Urie, check oput this thread:

http://www.ezbsys.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=23

They found that apparently TrueImage 7 performs  a CRC check on its MBR which was what causes problems copying everything over to one larger image file. They got around it by using the MBR from a TrueImage 6 disk and then adding all the TrueImage files to it. It's working flawlessly for me  :;):

BTW, by copying the contents of  all 5  floppies you are copying the recovery manager.

Anothe trick someone posted was to tack a USB memory  device, Memory Stick, etc. and tell TrueImage to makeit's recovery disk to that device. Then, grab the Floppy SeedImage as discussed in the thread I posted above and copy all the files from your memory device to that floppy image. It's basicallt the same as the five floppy images, except rather than having all the seperate TIMAGE files you will only have one of them.

Hope this helps!

Let me know if you have any more questions about this.

Hannes sorry m8 but that doesn't work you can run Trueimage with no problem but the recovery manager is't there if you make a bootable cd you will see that it is 15 meg in size the first 7meg is the boot sector and  trueimage is there and on the root of the cd is a folder named Recovery Manager, which is about 8 meg ,if you were to extract the boot image with winiso example: timage.WBT you will see it is 7meg and you can boot this with BCDW.
Thank for you help

Urie, I guess I must be misunderstanding what the recovery manager is or does. I'll  mess with it in a little bit and see if I can figure out how we might get it working. I'll post back again shortly.

Urie, I looked into the recovery manager further. You do not run the recovery manager from bootable floppies or a bootable CD. Instead, you install the recovery manager from within Windows. In the event that your OS does not start you then press F11 during startup to run the recovery manager from your HD but without loading the Operating System.

In the event that you cannot boot from the HD at all you then can boot from the floppies or bootable CD. Note that booting from the floppies or the CD allows you to image your HD(s) and to restore images as well.

The bottomline is that the recovery manager is useless  from a bootable CD because you don't run  it from there.

Thanks Hannes for your work so far but you can run recovery manager from the acronis bootable cd the reason i was trying to get this to work is to save having to install true image on some machines i,e on a newly installed system just so you can put on the recovery partition but at the end of the day i can allways use the acronis cd or install the full program onto the new system.

Thanks again and a merry xmas to you

Okay, Urie - I see what you mean now. I haven't messed with the recovery manager before and there was no reference to running it outside of Windows in the documentation, thus the confusion.

Now you have curious as well.  If I manage to turn anything up I'll let you know.

BTW, just as a side note I see that Acronis has a maintenance release of TrueImage 7 out already. You can grab it from their web site.
