hello balder ,

I've chance to reinstall Win8 on a new Sony notebook. It is UEFI Bios and GPT partitioned. It has no dvdrom in it.

I boot with external dvdrom with the dvd I made by Easyboot , but fail.
I boot with usb stick and usb harddisk which are mde by Easyboot , also fail.

What I mean fail is mean GPT can't reconize Grub4dos. All of my boot device can't boot up at all.

As some forum said "UEFI does not like Grub4dos and so all boot Images failed. The boot CD's were not compatible with UEFI"

Here is the website talking about this "UEFI Windows 8 + BIOS Grub4dos = MultiBoot USB-Harddisk" at http://reboot.pro/topic....arddisk

Unfortunately , I don't quite understand how they succeed. Would you mind to take a look there , if you can understand , would you mind to teach me how , step by step.

Recently , I install Win8 on many new desktop computer , they are all with UEFI Bios. I think now all the motherboard are with UEFI Bios like : Ausus , Gigabyte , AsRock ......

It's also time for you to study about EUFI / GPT and Easyboot.

I need your help. Thanks

Unfortunately you are drawing the right conclusion - Grub4dos cannot handle GPT partitions - this is at this point a well known fact :(

But how far did it work?
Did you get the EasyBoot menu up and run - or what?

But...Hmmmm... Why using grub at all?
You only need the basic 'standard' command in EasyBoot menu:  run /bootmgr  - having all files and folders related to Win8 in folder disk1 of course

However as I'm not using GPT partitions at present time and have no motherboard with UEFI, I cannot be to any great help :(
However, I'm still curios if above menu command is working alright - or if even menu of EasyBoot shows up at all!

The EUFI case - and I quote from given link: "In my case BIOS Grub4dos booting Image files on UEFI computer is only possible after switching in UEFI the Advanced OS setting from Win8 to Win7 / Other"
It's a little bit hazardous, I mean you cannot even be sure this works to all other 'UEFI-computers' :O

Yes you are 100% right there - but I have a  lack of equipment (hardware) to test ideas ???
I have no plans to by new equipment only for this task (at least not in a close future, perhaps when the right time has come)

hello balder ,

I have to make it clear that :

1. All desktop computers with UEFI Bios and GPT can boot up Easyboot normally. And all software inside can be used normally like MBR.

2. I can't boot up the Easyboot when I was encountering the Sony notebook.

How far did I can't boot up ? Sorry , I can't remember. What I can remember is by that time , I can only use a Windows 7 / 8 of 64-bit DVD to boot it up.

So you are right , you don't have to buy a EUFI motherboard as that might helpless , unless you have a UEFI notebook. Anyway thanks for you answer.
