Does anyone know how to create a bootable dvd with an image that can be restored from that same disk? (A all in one package per say.) I want to be able to boot the dvd disk and put my windows xp image back on the hard drive when it fails without having to reinstall my system. Is it possible?

You can certainly do that with EasyBoot.

Just add your "ghost" program to the boot menu (Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost, etc.) and then put your Windows XP Image inside the directory \Disk1. This way, your image file will be accessible within your integrated "ghost" application.
