Does anyone have an idea how I can boot from a USB-harddisk? Maybe by booting from a cd/dvd, that runs windows from the USB-drive?

You will need to go into the BIOS setting on your computer and change the boot device setting in there so it will boot of the usb device this may not be possible on some of the older machines

Well u can get those options of booting the USB drive...by UPGRADING ur BIOS...check ur mother board manufacture and BIOS name.Search on the NET for the BIOS UPGRADE...
