There is a sample in EasyBoot User's Manual (Click 'Help' button on 'File' page, then choose 'Contents' menu) for making Windows 98/XP multiboot CD,  here is detail instruction to add extra Windows 2000(Pro/Server/Advanced Server):
   =============================
  1. Prepare Windows 2000 files
  1) make sub-directory 'wn2k' in "C:\EasyBoot\disk1"
  2) copy directory i386 from  Windows 2000 CD to C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k
  4) modify "C:\EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot\w2ksect.bin" by UltraEdit, change all 'I386' to 'WN2K' and save it as 'wn2k.bin'
  5) copy boot files from C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k\i386 to C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k:(save attachment w2k.bat to C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k and run it)
  6) modify C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k\setupldr.bin by UltraEdit, change all 'I386' to 'WN2K'
  7) modify C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k\Textsetup.sif by UltraEdit, change 'SetupSourcePath = "\"' to 'SetupSourcePath = "\WN2K"'
  2. make boot menu by EasyBoot
  use 'run w2ksect.bin' to setup Windows XP
  use 'run wn2k.bin' to setup windows 2000
  use 'run setup98.img' to setup Windows 98
 ===============================
 Get wn2k.bat here: < http://dw.ezbsys.net/w2k.zip >.

Note: 1)You need a DVD-R to hold this large ISO image
        2)This method applys to Windows 2003 Server(All 32bit versions), you can get w2003.bat here: < http://dw.ezbsys.net/w2003.zip >.
        3) You can put another Windows XP as well, and here is wxp.bat: < http://dw.ezbsys.net/wxp.zip >.

You lost the files in root directory:

  For Windows 2000 Professional, put 'cdrom_ip.5' to C:\EasyBoot\disk1

 For Windows 2000 Server, put cdrom_is.5 to C:\EasyBoot\disk1

 For Windows 2000 Advanced Server, put cdrom_ia.5 to C:\EasyBoot\disk1
Posted by peter on Nov. 19 2003,04:40
Okay, that works nice for fist.

But what if i would create a disc which contains
different versions of Win2K. Where should i put the
CDROM_IP.5 (Professional) and CDROM_IS.5 (Server)?

Also in the root of the disc???

More thing to do: make another directory such as 'wpro' and 'wsvr', and modify files just as the guide in the top message.

Does this method work  for Slipstreamed versions of XP or Windows 2000 as well or would the batch file need to be updated to copy any different or additional files?

Ok Having a bit of a problem. Here's what I got.

4) modify "C:\EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot\w2ksect.bin" by UltraEdit, change all 'I386' to 'WN2K' and save it as 'wn2k.bin'

Ok when I open this file with Ultraedit-32 all I get is a garbled mess I only see I386 in one place.....the very last word. I think I'm doing something wrong.

Quote

5) copy boot files from C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k\i386 to C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k:(save attachment w2k.bat to C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k and run it)

copy all the files from I386 or just some files....I'm not quite sure what "BOOT" files means. Unless they're talking about a certain file needed to boot the computer.

Thanks in advance for your help.

EasyBoot 4.55 has build-in functionality to replace text in a binary file, please do it this way:
4) copy "C:\EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot\w2ksect.bin" to "C:\EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot\wn2k.bin", click 'Tools' button, and select 'Replace Text' from popup menu. A dialoge will appear, set 'file' to "C:\EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot\wn2k.bin", 'Text to Search' as 'I386' and 'Relpace with' as 'WN2K', then click "Replace" to finish.

"BOOT FILES" are those files needed by Windows 2000 to startup you PC.

Ok got the first part done. now When working with the boot files is there a list somewhere of what files are required to boot the system. Sorry I don't know what files are required.

Thanks again for the help

Okay, this is rather long, but I think it will help. This is a rough draft so my apologies if it doesn't read really smoothly yet, but I'm working on it. It may also need a little clarification in spots but I think it should help anyway.

Any feedback is welcome!

The purpose of this information is to show how to create a CD or DVD with EasyBoot for booting multiple copies of Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003 or any combination of these.

For example, with this procedure you can create a single DVD with Windows XP Pro Retail and Volume License, Windows 2000 Pro, Server, and Advanced Server, Server 2003 Web, Standard, Enterprise, and Datacenter as well  as Volume License versions of all of these and still have more than have the disc free!

__

This procedure assumes that you are working with Windows XP. The same procedure will work for Windows 2000 and Server 2003. Just modify the directory names you use to suit your needs with each OS.

1) Under “c:\EasyBoot\disk1” create a subdirectory called “WXP1”

Note: You can use any valid 4 character directory name here, however you should make certain to use all caps. Substitute whatever you use for “WXP1” in all the references below.

2) Copy the contents of your Windows XP CD to the “WXP1” directory. You can delete extra folders such as the Support directory later if you wish, but you should copy the entire CD contents over for now, especially if you want to slipstream in a Service Pack (See “Optional Steps to Slipstream in SP1” below).

Optional Steps to Slipstream in SP1

If your installation files do not already have the latest Service Pack slipstreamed in then you can slipstream in the Service Pack now. This example shows how to slipstream SP1a into Windows XP. The same procedure works for Windows 2000. Of course, you simply need to modify the directory names below and the name of the Service Pack file.

A) Copy the contents of the Windows XP CD to a directory on a HD. In this example, we’ll assume C:\XP
B) Download the FULL SP1 or SP1a package (not the minimal install package).
C) Make a directory on you HD to extract the Service Pack files to, for example, C:\SP1a.
D) Open a command prompt and change to the directory where the SP is located. Issue the command “xpsp1a_en_x86.exe –x”. When asked where to extract the files to, point to the directory you just created (C:\SP1a in the example above).
E) Change to the directory where the SP files were just extracted to and go to the update directory.
F) Issue the command “update /s:c:\xp”

You have now slipstreamed the Service Pack into your installation files.

If you now want to create a bootable CD with the slipstreamed Service Pack do the following:

A) Extract the boot sector from your original Windows CD using a utility such as Ultra ISO.
B) Open a CD Burning application such as Nero or Easy CD Creator. Choose to create a bootable CD. You should set the emulation type to “No Emulation” and load 4 sectors.
C) If using Nero Burning ROM be sure to check the box that reads:

Do not add the “;1” ISO file version extension.
Note: Current  versions of Easy CD Creator don’t have this option  but seem to work properly by default.

D) Use the Joliet file system, allow paths more than 8 levels deep, and allow more than 255 characters in the path. Set the volume label to be the same as the original CD.

End of Optional Steps to Slipstream SP1

3) Copy the files from the root of your Windows XP CD to the “c:\EasyBoot\Disk1” directory. For Windows 2000 this includes all files whose names start with “cdrom”. For Windows XP and Server 2003 copy all files starting with “win51”. This includes the files such as “WIN51”, “WIN51IP”, etc.

4) Use a tool such as UltaISO to save the bootsector from your CD to the “c:\Easyboot\Disk1\ezboot” directory. As an alternative you can use download a bootsector file. Rename as you see fit. For example, if you plan to have two copies of Windows XP, such as a retail version and a Volume License edition you can call one bootsector file “WXP1.bin” and one “WXP2.bin”. Use the search and replace text tool built into EasyBoot to change all occurrences of “I386” to “WXP1” in this file (remember to use all caps). The name of the bin file is not what matters here. What matters is that I386 is modified to match the name of the directory that your installation files are in.

5) Copy the boot files from the “i386” directory to the “WXP1” directory. To do this, use the appropriate batch file available for download from EZB Systems (see < http://ezbsys.com/download/ >). Place the batch file for Windows XP in the “WXP1” directory and then run it by double-clicking it. After it has run you can delete it if you wish.

Note: All the batch file is doing is copying the files that would be found on the startup diskettes. In other words, you can copy the disks as an alternative to using the batch file.

6) Edit the file “setupldr.bin” in the “WXP1” directory. Again, use the search and replace text tool built into EasyBoot. Change all references of “i386” to “WXP1”. Use all capital letters except for the “i” in “i386”.

7) Edit the file “txtsetup.sif” in the “WXP1” directory and change the value for “SetupSourcePath” from “\” to “\WXP1”. Note: You can use notepad to do this, however, it is very important to check the file after you save it to be sure that notepad has not appended a “.txt” extension to the end of it!

8) When making your boot menu in EasyBoot use “run wxp1.bin” to run this installation of Windows  XP.

Note: During installation of the Operating System, at the time of the first reboot you should eject the CD or DVD and reinsert it only when Windows prompts for it again. I found that even though I set EasyBoot to boot from the HD when it timed out, for some reason Windows XP could not find files on the CD then.  If I boot directly to the HD then all works fine. At least, that’s what happened in my VMWare test. It's possible this may be a quick in VMWare but I  thought I'd mention in case anyone else runs into this.

I try to do a bootable CD with Windows 98/2000/XP, but don't works... I edit the win2k.bin (replaced the I386 for WIN2K) and the setupldr.bin and the file txtsetup.sif but didn't work. The message of error is:
Cannot boot from a CD - Code 5

What can i do to solve this problem ???

Please send me a better explanation to do it....

Thank you...
Posted by Hannes on Jan. 01 2004,23:45
Anderson, in you message you say that you are using "WIN2K". This is 5 characters. You need to use 4  characters!

While "WIN2K" will not work, "WN2K" will. Try that and if it doesn't work we'll go over the entire process in more detail.

Let me know if this helps!

I did all you have said here: Edited w2sect.bin, renamed as w2kprof.bin, added to a menu.
Made a dir named W2KP, copied inside i386 dir from Win2k Prof, runned the w2k.bat provided by you,
edited the setupldr.bin (replaced all i386 with W2KP) and txtsetup.sif (SetupSourcePath = "\W2KP"),
and when I start the installation from DVD after checking the system, I get a message "Please insert Windows 2000 Proffesional files into Drive A:".:(  Does anyone have an ideea???

Thanks in advance.

OK... I have forgotten the files CDROM_IP.5 from WIN2K cd-rom... that was why it was asking for the files... I have repaired this and now I got a new message: "File: \nt5p\c_1252.nls Could not be loaded"

The file is in sub-dir i386.... what can I do, or where did I go wrong.

The instructions here address making a bootable CD/DVD.  I want to take that one step further and have my entire system backed up to (probably 2) DVDs after a fresh installation of Windows XP and ALL of my typical software (MS Office, Tweek UI, WinZip, WinAmp, and so on).  This way when my system "breaks" I can simply restore it to this pristine condition when ever I need to.  About twice a year, usually when my system starts to get sluggish, I reformat and restore my entire C: drive from OEM supplied restore disks  but that does not include all of my other productivity software... just the basic image from the manufacturer.

Any advice on doing this on a couple of DVDs.

I recomand Norton Ghost and Acronis TrueImage, both can backup/restore a entire disk partition for you. EasyBoot can integrates these tools with no problem.

Has anyone else seen this or am I the only one to get this.

I have created a single boot cd with Windows 2000 Pro SP4. I have gotten the menu to work just fine. The menu launches the Win2k setup just fine. (After add the cdrom_ip5 file..hehe) but now I am getting (Cannot find the License Agreement File, Setup will now exit). WTF?  I have copied EVERYTHING like stated above. Must I check or uncheck "Hide Boot Folder" and/or other options while I create the ISO?

Thanks!

I am still having the issue where my W2k Pro sp4 cd boots but once it asks me if I want to install a "fresh" copy of W2k, the system states:

"Setup cannot find the End User Licensing Agreement (EULA)
Setup cannot continue. To quit, press F3."

-----------------------------------------------------

I have verified that in my TXTSETUP.SIF file the "SetupSourcePath" line states the following:

SetupSourcePath = "\I386"

(Please bear in mind that I am not trying to make an all in one cd. All I need it W2kPro SP4)

I have ultraedit'ed the setupldr.bin file and found only three entries with I386. Since I am leaving the I386 Directory, I did not change anything there. Should I changed something here?

I also verified that the w2ksect.bin file is pointed to the I386 directory as well.

I have also verified the the EULA.txt file is located in the I386 directory.

I have also placed the Cd in a up and running system (Windows XP) and examined the CD. The I386 Dir is not hidden and you can plainly see the EULA.TXT file on the CD. (I cannot see the EZBOOT dir as when I created the ISO I selected to "hide the boot folder."

What little #### thing am I missing here? The CD boots fine. The W2k Setup program launches just fine, it just cannot find the eula.txt file. I am sooo darn angry right now. (I am soooo close, yet soooo far.)  :D

Hi! Here is a solution where u won’t need any win2k.bat or other bat files. And u won’t have to copy boot files also.... so here what u should do

I am assuming I will create a bootable CD with 3 OS (XP, 2K & 98)

Step1: copy the folder “i386” from Windows 2000CD into “EasyBoot\disk1\”
Step2: rename “i386” to “WN2K”

Step3: copy the folder “i386” from Windows XPCD into “EasyBoot\disk1\”
Step4: rename “i386” to “WNXP”

Step5: create a folder “WIN98” under “EasyBoot\disk1\”
Step6: copy all files from “Setup” from Windows98CD into “EasyBoot\disk1\WIN98\”

Step7: make a duplicate copy of the file “EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot\w2ksect.bin”. and rename it into “wxpsect.bin”

Step8: open “replace text” from “EasyBoot – Tools”. browse the file “SETUPLDR.BIN” from “EasyBoot\disk1\WN2K\”. find “i386” and replace all with “WN2K”
Step9: browse the file “TXTSETUP.SIF” from “EasyBoot\disk1\WN2K\”. find “i386” and replace all with “WN2K”
Step10: browse the file “SETUPLDR.BIN” from “EasyBoot\disk1\WNXP\”. find “i386” and replace all with “WNXP”
Step11: browse the file “TXTSETUP.SIF” from “EasyBoot\disk1\WNXP\”. find “i386” and replace all with “WNXP”
Step12: browse the file “w2ksect.bin” from “EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot\”. find “i386” and replace all with “WN2K”
Step13: browse the file “wxpsect.bin” from “EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot\”. find “i386” and replace all with “WNXP”

Step16: copy all files Starts with “CDROM” from Windows2000CD into “EasyBoot\disk1\”
Step17: copy all files Starts with “WIN51” from WindowsXP CD into “EasyBoot\disk1\”

If u also want ur CD to be able to run from Windows environment. do the following.
Step18: copy the file “Setup.exe” from “Windows 2K CD into “EasyBoot\disk1\”
Step19: rename the file to “2kSetup.exe”
Step20: copy the file “Setup.exe” from “Windows XP CD into “EasyBoot\disk1\”
Step21: rename the file to “XPSetup.exe”

Step22: open “replace text” from “EasyBoot – Tools”. browse the file “2kSetup.exe” from “EasyBoot\disk1\”. find “i386” and replace all with “WN2K”
Step23: browse the file “XpSetup.exe” from “EasyBoot\disk1\”. find “i386” and replace all with “WNXP”

That’s it boys select “w2ksect.bin” for Windows2000, select “wxpsect.bin” for WindowsXP. And select “setup98.img” for win98.

Build ISO and burn…………my ISO’s size were 768MB. Remove the Folder “LANG” from “EasyBoot\disk1\WN2K\” and “EasyBoot\disk1\WNXP\” if u don’t need any other language rather then English. It will save lots of space.

My DirStructure was Something like this :

Hi, I am trying to get a HP Pavilion to boot up from CD using a Win2k CD.  So far with miserable luck.  I tried Bart's CD boot site. Now trying easyboot.

1. Prepare Windows 2000 files

 1) make sub-directory 'wn2k' in "C:\EasyBoot\disk1"

directory made!

 2) copy directory i386 from  Windows 2000 CD to C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k

yep copied the whole directory over!

 4) modify "C:\EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot\w2ksect.bin" by UltraEdit, change all 'I386' to 'WN2K' and save it as 'wn2k.bin'

Did a search and replace.  Found only one instance and replaced!

 5) copy boot files from C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k\i386 to C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k:

Which are the boot files??  Which files?  Ok i just copied all that was in i386 including subdirectories to C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k\  i am not sure which are the "boot files"??

(save attachment w2k.bat to C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k and run it)

Ok isn't this a new step?  I copied it to wn2k dir and ran it.  what did it do?

6) modify C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k\setupldr.bin by UltraEdit, change all 'I386' to 'WN2K'

Found 50 instances with search and replace, replaced all after making the file writable.

7) modify C:\EasyBoot\disk1\wn2k\Textsetup.sif by UltraEdit, change 'SetupSourcePath = "\"' to 'SetupSourcePath = "\WN2K"'

Ok changed that line!

2. make boot menu by EasyBoot
use 'run wn2k.bin' to setup windows 2000

Ok, I replace the file name on that line to wn2k.bin and made a menu item and saved.  Did not see any other options that were needed to be changed.

Last I pressed make ISO, and Burn CD.  I burned the CD, I put it in the laptop and got the following error messages.

Bad volume descriptor type
bad standard identifier
bad blame description version
directory ezboot not found
error loading CD image menu EZB

wow what did i miss here !! Thanks Rich

my old solution did worked for me i dont understand why it didn't work for u guys. i am extreamly sorry about that. what eva solution any 1 gives u can try that before u actually burn it using "microsoft virtual pc 2004" download it. here is the cracked link for that. i hope it not iligal for giving links. please forgive me for the first time if it is.

< http://download.pods.lv/VirtualPC/MicrosoftVirtualPC2004English.rar >
Serial: GP884-RWM4K-VY2J2-3X6XC-YXY73

MS Virtual PC can create many virtual pc with in ur winxp or 2000 os. just run it that create a drive give it about 1.5GB space & 128 MB or ram and that it its dont. u know what u have ?

u have a pc with
ur real processor speed
128MB ram
1.5GB of HDD
Sound Card
NetWork card
etc . . . .

And Here is another solution that also works for me.......100% sure i create almost 3 set of os cd.
1. has winxppro, win2kpro, win98
2. has win2ksvr, win2kAdvSvr, WinNT4
3. WITH 2003 SERVER 3 in 1.
All r service pack intregated. so it works i also test those in virtual pc.

I tried to make a 98/XP/2000/2003Server DVD. Everything seemed to work except when I tried to install 20003 Standard Server I get following eror message:

The signature for Windows Setup is invalid.  The error code is 57.

This is after it finishes the text based version of the install and restarts the machine. It is in the GUI install part and then this error message comes.

Any ideas? ( I have edited all the files according to Windows 2000 tutorial and created folders etc according to that. And used the w2003.bat to copy the files to the proper directorries ).

PS: BTW, the batch file for 2003 server has a bug ;) The mkdri command is typed as mkdi in the batch file. So can someone fix it for others not to get a wrong directory structure.

I have made several attempts and can't seem to get windows 2000 to boot.  Both 98SE and XP Pro are working but when I choose 2000 Pro I get a black screen with a blinking curser in the top left.

The one variation from your instructions I have is my i386 folder does not contain Textsetup.sif.  It does contain a Txtsetup.sif.  I have tried ignoring step number 7 and I have tried applying step number seven to the Txtsetup.sif file.  It does not work either way.  Do your have any ideas as to what is going on.

How to make WinXp Installation Bootable in DVD
I have a CD which consists of;
1. Bootable windows XP installation RU1
2. Microsoft OfficeXp 2003
3. Microsoft Frontpage XP
4. Xp softwares and applications

All CDs are are to be burned into one DVD disk and I want this DVD to have a Windows XP boot system (bootable DVD windows Xp installation) and other softwares as I mentioned above. Could you guide me through a step-by-step procedure to make a bootable DVD?
Tools that I have installed in my PC are DVD writer SOHW812 and recording software Nero 6.03.
I have tried 3 times to burn a bootable DVD but I have always failed.
The steps that I have taken to make a bootable DVD are as follows:
1. I created windows xp bootable floopy disk comsisting of 6 disks.
2. I inserted a blank DVD in the DVD writer drive, then I run Nero 6.03.
The next step I took are:
1. click the icoon boot disk in Nero then Nero ask for image disk 1.
2. I inserted floppy disk 1 (after I inserted disk 1, why didn't Nero ask for disk 2?)
3. Then I burned the other applications.
4. After the burning of all applications is completed, I tried to boot from the DVD.
5. At first DVD was able to boot but then it ask me to insert disk 2 into floppy disk drive. Why is that so?

Thank you very much for your help. I would be expecting your prompt response.

shurid,

I have followed your post for a 98/200/XP 3 in 1 CD to the letter, but have the following problems...

Win98 - Works fine :)

Win2K - Setup Runs fine, but on first reboot when the GUI setup starts, I am prompted to insert the Win 2000 CD. It is looking for the files in D:\i386. I can change the path to look in D:\WN2K, but have to do it for every file. :(

WinXP - Setup fails. Just after the F6 for additional drivers, it then prompts me to insert the Win XP Home SP1 CD in Drive A: !!! :(

If anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Tim

I am having similar problem when I try to install Server 2003 I get a BSD "Process1_Initialization_Failed"
I corrected the typo in w2003.bat "mkdir system32" worked ok for me.
Did you use w2ksect.bin or the boot image from your Server 2003 cd?
Also my cd doesn't have CDROM_IS.?
it has WP51IS only.

Hi,

I am trying to create a 4n1 Dvd (xp, w98, network boot and Server 2003 standard). Everyting works except Server 2003
it gives me a BSD "Process1_Initialization_Failed" when I try
to install 2003. I used w2ksect.bin and w2003.bat as suggested in easyboot manual.

I was wondering if you have solved your problem or have any
suggestion to mine.

Thanks,

Options according to different OS using EasyBoot…

Well, this is rather long…

Please note that this is a generally example how to create a DOS-environment using Easyboot together with “standard-bootfloppy-image”.
-----------------------------------------------
Example 1.
Create a folder in EasyBoot\disk1 (in this example: “xp_pro” Note: 8 letters or less). Copy all stuff from CD containing WinXPpro, to “xp_pro”-folder.
It should now look like this:  EasyBoot\disk1\xp_pro\i386  (with bootfont.bin, folders, in fact every thing WinXPpro-CD contains).

Now use WinXP (or WinMe, Win98) to create a bootable floppy, or download from Internet.
In this example boot floppy was made thru WinXP-pro.

Note: I have left out country codes, they are automatically inserted in an appropriated way when WinXP creates the boot floppy. No problems with them. And second, this bootfloppy are designed to start OS-installation on HD C:

You still need to do some changes in autoexec.bat and config.sys. You also need to insert two other files on this boot floppy. The two files are: VIDE-CDD.SYS (or similar) and MSCDEX (or similar).
In the example I also use unattended installation and smartdrive (speeds up installation).
The unattend.txt-file (unattend.txt) is automatically copied to C: This file may later be deleted (when installation is finished).
However Autoexec.bat should look like this:

loadhigh MSCDEX /D:MSCD001 /L:X
Rem delete next line (“a:\smartdrv.exe”) if you are not able to find smartdrive
a:\smartdrv.exe
rem delete next line (“copy a:unattend.txt c:”) to avoid unattended installation
copy a:unattend.txt c:
PATH=a:\;a:\dos;x:
set SetupFiles=x:\winxp\i386
rem delete last part of next line “/u:C:\unattend.txt” to avoid unattended installation
X:\winxp\I386\winnt /s:%SetupFiles% /u:C:\unattend.txt

--------------------------------------------------
Config.sys should look like this:

DOS=HIGH,UMB
buffers=40
device=display.sys con=(ega,,1)
DEVICE=VIDE-CDD.SYS /D:MSCD001

Example 2.
Want some more OS on EasyBoot? Well just create a new folder with different name and put your different OS (all stuff from CD) to this new folder, like this: EasyBoot\disk1\xphome\i386  In this example, I have created a new folder, named xphome, and then just copied every thing from WinXPhome-CD to this “xphome”-folder. But I have to change two paths in Autoexec.bat from “xp_pro” to “xphome”. Then create a new boot-image witch later will be used as bootimage in EasyBoot.
Autoexec should look like this according to this second example
Note: Two lines are changed, line 6 and 8:

loadhigh MSCDEX /D:MSCD001 /L:X
Rem delete next line (“a:\smartdrv.exe”) if you are not able to find smartdrive
a:\smartdrv.exe
rem delete next line (“copy a:unattend.txt c:”) to avoid unattended installation
copy a:unattend.txt c:
PATH=a:\;a:\dos;x:
set SetupFiles=x:\xphome\i386
rem delete last part of next line “/u:C:\unattend.txt” to avoid unattended installation
X:\ xphome \I386\winnt /s:%SetupFiles% /u:C:\unattend.txt
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Make different floppy-images according to examples above. Images like this: xphome.ima (installing xphome) and xp_pro.ima (installing WinXPpro) or what ever you want to name this images to). Use it as usual in EasyBoot (“run xphome.ima” and/or “run xp_pro.ima” ).
The same with Win2000, Win2000-server and so on. Just remember, name of the directory (folder) must be maximum 8 letters, like “2000ser” or “2000pro”.

Note: You do not need to do any changes in config.sys. Only the path in Autoexec.bat (line 6 and 8) in case you want to achieve “super-multi-install options” according to different OS.
Download Winimage from: < http://www.winimage.com/ > or use UltraISO to create the bootable image (images) using those different “boot floppy” as source.
Use images in Easyboot to start different WinXP\WinHome\2000 installations or whatever.

I also use smarddrive (command showed in Autoexec.bat “smartdrv.exe”). Download smartdrive from Internet or from an old bootfloppy. It’s a good idea to use smartdrive (speeds up installation-procedure).
As you can figure out above, the CD/DVD-reader unit is “renamed” with a DOS-command to letter X. That means you have to start from unit one of CD/DVD-readers, not the second unit (in case there are several CD/DVD units).
In this example VIDE-CDD.SYS is used to support CD/DVD-reader in DOS, and of course MSCDEX . You may need/use (or own) another SYS-file supporting your CD/DVD-reader, but you always need MSCDEX (or similar) in autoexec.bat to support CD/DVD-reader in DOS.

Sorry about my fragmented English – hope you don’t mind?

Posted by eureka on Sep. 01 2004,03:04
Sorry bad counting from me.
It is line 7 and 9 that must be changed in Autoexec.bat. Not line 6 and 8 (He, he, he…promise to use my fingers when counting next time).

Posted by eureka on Sep. 01 2004,07:15
If you use my example (creating multiboot-OS), then you probably need to edit boot.ini-file on C: (when installation is finished). Edit the lines in boot.ini to look more “standard”, like this (here showing boot.ini according to WinXPpro):

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Now you get a “normal” start-procedure instead of that extra choice - when starting computer.
If using unattended. Don’t forget to copy unattend.txt-file to boot floppy.

When trying to add any of the Windows 2003 server family i get the following message:

INF file txtsetup.sif is corrup or missing, status 18

The file is in the specified directory. I have only changed the file the same way i change the XP file.

Any suggestions

Hello David!

Your problems seems to be with the way you initiate the unattended installation.
Please rename txtsetup.sif to unattend.txt and then insert (place) this unattend.txt on the boot floppy BEFORE you transform boot floppy to actual image.
You may use (copy) my text according to the command lines in the unattended section, on Autoexec.bat

Always remember, short name on the image you later use in EasyBoot (less than 8 letters).

Give it a try...

The proble with doing it that way is that I extracted  the boot image from the ISO provided by Microsoft Msdn. This is the only bootable copy I have.

So where should I place the file.

Thanks

Hello David!

Hmmm… I am not exactly sure what you mean David.

“I extracted  the boot image from the ISO provided by Microsoft Msdn”…
You cannot use this boot image. You have to create a boot image from a bootable floppy, created in the way I have described it. In fact, we do not have any use of such an image from any ISO! What we are trying here is to create a DOS-environment using Easyboot together with “standard boot floppy” and then create a boot-image using this changed (edited) boot floppy as source.
Please download from this link: < http://www.brianashley.net/windowsbootdisk/Windows > ME Custom, No RAMdrive/bootmec.exe

Have a floppy ready in the floppy unit (when its been downloaded). Start downloaded file “bootmec.exe” and it automatically creates a boot floppy.
Now, make appropriate changes in Autoexec.bat and config.sys (example showing WinXP).
Autoexec.bat should look EXACTLY like this. Just copy text to Autoexec.bat if you want to. Delete everything else (other text):

MSCDEX /D:MSCD001 /L:X
rem delete next line (“copy a:unattend.txt c:”) to avoid unattended installation
copy a:unattend.txt c:
PATH=a:\;a:\dos;x:
set SetupFiles=x:\winxp\i386
rem delete last part of next line “/u:C:\unattend.txt” to avoid unattended installation
X:\winxp\I386\winnt /s:%SetupFiles% /u:C:\unattend.txt

Please note: Copy the file unattend.txt to boot floppy if you want to use the option with unattended installation. Otherwise, delete last part on line 7 “/u:C:\unattend.txt” in Autoexec.bat
---------------------------------------
Config.sys should look EXACTLY like this:

DOS=HIGH,UMB
buffers=40
DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:MSCD001
LASTDRIVE=Z

There is no smartdriver on this boot floppy. Well… no problems. It’s not necessary, it works fine bye any way.

Now create an image with this boot floppy as source, and use it in EasyBoot as usually.

WinXP works fine. I can't get 2003 Server to work. will this work with 2003
Posted by David on Sep. 03 2004,10:24
If so how is it done? I am new to this sort of thing

please help!

Posted by David on Sep. 03 2004,13:12
Seems that the 2003.bat file doesn't copy all the required files for setup. You need to copy all of the contents in the I386 directory.

Also becarefull what you name your directory

Good news about WinXP. Always nice with feedback, especially if it works out…

I hope you understand that all stuff according to install/set-up procedure in DOS must be done on partitions with file system FAT32 and not NTFS. If installing on NTFS you need up to 6 floppies!!! However installing on FAT32 and then later convert to NTFS (if you want to) is quite easy.

But now to the issue installing win 2003 server. Test this:
Create a folder named 2003serv in EasyBoot\disk1
Copy all stuff from CD containing 2003 server OS to folder “2003serv” It should no look like this: EasyBoot\disk1\2003serv\i386

Download boot floppy from: < http://freepctech.com/pc/002/files010.shtml >  choose to download “MS Windows XP System setup disk” and make a new fresh  boot floppy using downloaded boot-floppy-file.
If you consider using unattended installation, don’t forget to copy unattend.txt to this new boot floppy.
Edit Autoexec.bat on your new boot floppy.
Autoexec.bat should look like this (delete other text):

@echo off
a:\smartdrv.exe
MSCDEX.EXE  /D:tomato /L:R
Rem delete next line “copy a:unattend.txt c:” to avoid unattended installation.
copy a:unattend.txt c:
PATH=a:\;a:\dos;R:
set SetupFiles=R:\2003serv\i386
rem delete last part of next line “/u:C:\unattend.txt” to avoid unattended installation
R:\2003serv\I386\winnt /s:%SetupFiles%  /u:C:\unattend.txt
--------------------------------------
Config.sys should look like this:

DEVICE=HIMEM.SYS /testmem:off
FILES=30
BUFFERS=20
DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato
LASTDRIVE=Z
----------------------------------------
Create an image with this boot floppy as source. Name it something like: 2003serv (note: max 8 letters) Use it in EasyBoot as usual.
Give it a try…

if you use the tool cdimage (search google theres also cdimagegui for those that dont like cmd)
you can setup it up to make an iso using dupes of files that are the same to save space (lots of space if you want 2k/xp/2k3 on the same cd)

it didnt seem to be mentioned in this thread so i thought i would

eureka - Do you have some reference you can provide as to how to take the 6 floppy WinXP setup (from MS) and create the boot image for easyboot?  I use NTFS.  Spent the better of the last three days trying to get this to work without success.  I can get 8 simple boot images to work (all IMA) but unable to get complex ISO w/BIN images to boot correctly.  Such as: WinXP, Acronis True Image & Acronis DriveCleanser.)  Any concrete concise feedback is greatly appreciated.   ???

Posted by eureka on Sep. 06 2004,04:46
Well Zardoz2293… Good question from you - perhaps bad answer from me…?
Have been struggle with the same idea (using those boot floppies) - without success.

Found a program that might help us “getting up on the highway”.
Test BalderMultiboot < http://www.balder.ms/multiboot/ >
Bye using BalderMultiboot I have now successfully combined Bart PE and WinXP_pro, together with EasyBoot.

If using “Balder” you have to edit bootsect.bin (you may use w2ksect.bin) and with help of “Hex Workshop” < http://www.bpsoft.com/ > make necessary changes in bootsector, meaning; pointing to right “boot-directory”.  Last issue is in fact not that difficult to achieve, (as it might look like).

Using BalderMultiboot
Please note: you can only create one OS at time, using BalderMultiboot in “Demo Edition-mode”

When Balder is finished, (creating two directories, probably in “My documents\My multiboot\MBRoot”), inside directory MBRoot you should have 2 folders, named something like: “English” with subdirectories, and a second folder named “Xp01” (if using WinXpro). Copy both folders to EasyBoot\disk1
IMPORTANT:  “Xp01” is the “boot-directory” that bootsect.bin, must be edited to point to.
Note: “English” might have a different name, and the same with “Xp01”, according to language and/or OS (and of course different OS as well).

Using Hex Workshop.
Open a bootsect.bin-file (use w2ksect.bin) with Hex Workshop. Scroll down until you see the following text in the right hand side “SETUPLDR.BINBOOTFIX.BINI386” (no quotes). All we're concerned with is I386. It’s those letters (and numbers) that are pointing to the “boot-directory”. In this example it should instead point to “boot-directory” “XP01” (no quotes). To achieve this, do as followed: DO NOT USE DELETE OR SPACE! Just place the marker in front of  I386 and write XP01 and STOP WRITING THERE! - only those 4 letters/numbers, not more or less (note: letters must be written as capitals). 0= not O it’s a zero(0). Choose to “Save as”, (perhaps with a name like “winxp.bin”).
Use “winxp.bin” in EasyBoot to start set-up/installation of WinXPpro, (that’s been used in this example).

However, I have been trying the same with OS like: 2000server (no success), 2000pro (no success) but WinXPpro works perfect. Why??? Seems that BalderMultiboot are optimised according to newer OS, or what??? But to achieve “multiOS” I personally use DOS (winnt.exe), for those OS that wont work the “NTFS-way” (look in to earlier comments from me).

Well, hope my English was readable…

eureka - This works for booting froma cd/dvd but not from vmware can you help.

Is there a similar method for 2000

Thanks for the help

Posted by eureka on Sep. 06 2004,12:03
Hello David!

Quote: This works for booting from a cd/dvd but not from vmware can you help….

Works from DVD? You mean that you actually have created a DVD, holding several OS and bye using BalderMultiboot (that I suggested) now have achieved an DVD – (using EasyBoot) - now can setup different OS (like WinXp_pro and/or 2003server and so on) is that what you are saying?
Please confirm!!!

About vmware, am I not much to help. I’m using “Microsoft virtual PC”. Thought it should be better synchronized with Microsoft’s own software (sometimes it doesn’t look so).

I’m not the owner of DVD-burner, witch highly limits my ability to fully participate in our efforts to make a multiboot-DVD, using EasyBoot. I need help and support from you gentlemen (and ladies not to forget!). Seems that some of you, have the technically capacity to test my suggestions. Hope you all don’t mind.

Hi eureka,

     I am now able to confirm that yes I have, winxp, w2kPro, w2kserver, and all the Server 2003 family working from a bootable dvd.

However using this method does mean that i can't use it in vmware. As I get the following message:

   An Internal Setup error has occured.

   Could not find a place for a swap file

   Setup cannot continue. Press ENTER to exit.

I am aware you are unable to give suggestions, but I wondered if anyone else has any ideas.

Thanks for your help

Posted by eureka on Sep. 07 2004,13:22
Hi David,

First of all. Congratulations to you from me.

Quote: “An Internal Setup error has occurred.   Could not find a place for a swap file…”
Well don’t be sorry about that, because it’s the same problems with “Microsoft Virtual PC”.

Please kill my curiosity and answer this last questions.
1. Do you on this “super-DVD” use EasyBoot as supposed?
2. Did you use BalderMultiboot to achieve all this?

To all people ATTENTION: Read this if some other problems occur: < http://bootcd.narod.ru/ntbootbin_e.htm >

Again congratulations David.

He, he nice with positive feedback.

anyone can help me???

Posted by eureka on Sep. 24 2004,17:50
Hello Gitaristi...

Ghost and partition magic in EasyBoot…

Create a folder named ghost in easyboot\disk1 and put ghost.exe in this folder.
NOTE!!! You cannot use Ghost32, only Ghost.exe intended to be used in DOS-environments. Ghost v.8 works fine and even supports NTFS.

Use WinXP (or WinMe, Win98) to create a bootable floppy, or download from Internet: < http://freepctech.com/pc/002/files010.shtml > choose to download “MS Windows XP System setup disk” and make a new fresh boot floppy using downloaded boot-floppy-file.

Edit Autoexec.bat on your new boot floppy.
Autoexec.bat should look like this (delete other text):

@echo off
MSCDEX.EXE  /D:tomato /L:R
PATH=a:\;a:\dos;R:
R:\ghost\ghost.exe
--------------------------------------
Config.sys should look like this:

DEVICE=HIMEM.SYS /testmem:off
FILES=30
BUFFERS=20
DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato
LASTDRIVE=Z
--------------------------------------------------
Create the bootable image using this floppy. Use this image in Easyboot as usually.

As you can figure out above, the CD/DVD-reader unit is “renamed” with a DOS-command to letter X. That means you have to start from unit one of CD/DVD-readers, not the second unit (in case there are several CD/DVD units).

--------------------------------------
Partition magic.
Basically the same procedure, but of course different path and some more files in another folder (name folder pq , and put necessary files according to partition magic in this “pq”-folder).
NOTE!!! You can only use partition magic.exe intended for DOS-environments.

Autoexec.bat should look like this (delete other text):

@echo off
MSCDEX.EXE  /D:tomato /L:R
PATH=a:\;a:\dos;R:
R:\pq\pqmagic.exe
--------------------------------------
Config.sys should look like this:

DEVICE=HIMEM.SYS /testmem:off
FILES=30
BUFFERS=20
DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato
LASTDRIVE=Z

It is also possible to create mouse support. Put command in Autoexec (like “mouse.exe” if that’s the name of mouse support).

Have a nice day...

Hello again David!

Windows me and EasyBoot...

Create a folder named winme in easyboot\disk1 and put all files from winme-CD in this folder (every cab-file and so on, in fact every file!).

@echo off
MSCDEX.EXE  /D:tomato /L:R
PATH=a:\;a:\dos;R:
R:\winme\install.exe
--------------------------------------
Config.sys should look like this:

DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato

Note: It´s very easy to combine this with unattended installation if you would like. Create a “msbatch.inf” file and place it in the winme-folder to fix this.

Posted by eureka on Sep. 25 2004,07:14
Hi David!
Forgot to mention that WinMe needs FAT32 (but you probably already now that?).

Secondly, a good advice: if running WinMe, deactivate “System restore”-function.
System restore in WinMe is probably the most instable function that Microsoft has developed.

Without System restore, WinMe is just as stable as Win98. That means (he, he, he): still far from 100% stable.

Hello dmardenda!

Well, not sure if I’m the target of this question from you dmardenda? However, here’s the answer on your request.

Dear user of EasyBoot (I’m not consider myself an expert in any way – maybe more like a amateur – just trying to do my very best). I have been tested this just a couple of minutes ago.

Please note that this is a generally example how to create a DOS-environment using Easyboot together with Drive image 2002.
It’s good if you are familiar with DOS-environments, and watch out for troubles according to the differences between NTFS and FAT32-filessystems.
-----------------------------------------------
Create your Drive image file and move this image (a large one you said?) to appropriate folder (easyboot\disk1).

Create a folder named pqdi in EasyBoot\disk1
Copy necessary files according to Drive image 2002 to this new folder named pqdi, that would bee this files: Pqdi.ovl, Dihelp.dat, Pqdi.rtc, Pqdi.pqg, and finally Pqdi.exe

Download boot disk from here: < http://freepctech.com/pc/002/files010.shtml > choose to download “MS Windows XP System setup disk” and make a new fresh boot floppy using downloaded boot-floppy-file.
Note: This boot disk has built in ps/2-mouse support.
-----------------------------------------------
Edit Autoexec.bat to look like this (delete other text):

@echo off
mouse
MSCDEX.EXE  /D:tomato /L:R
PATH=a:\;a:\dos;R:\pqdi
pqdi.exe
--------------------------------------
Config.sys should look like this:

DEVICE=HIMEM.SYS /testmem:off
FILES=30
BUFFERS=20

DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato

rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato /P:1f0,14
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato /P:170,15
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato /P:170,10
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato /P:1e8,12
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato /P:1e8,11
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato /P:168,10
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato /P:168,9

LASTDRIVE=Z

Note: As you can figure out above (in Autoexec.bat), the CD/DVD-reader unit is “renamed” with a DOS-command to letter R
-----------------------------
Create bootimage with this boot floppy as source and name it something like: pqdi.ima (Note: not pqdi.imz that’s wrong format!). Use this image to start power quest drive image in EasyBoot as usual (run pqdi.ima).

How to create bootable image? Well use Winimage: < http://www.winimage.com/download.htm >

Hope my English was readable?

Dmardenda here comes Drive image 7…

Guess that ”Drive image 7” is Symantec ghost version 7.0?

Loading ghost-image using Easyboot.

Please note that this is a generally example how to create a DOS-environment using Easyboot together with Ghost.
It’s good if you are familiar with DOS-environments, and watch out for troubles according to the differences between NTFS and FAT32-filessystems.
-----------------------------------------------
Create your ghost-image and move this ghost-image to appropriate folder (easyboot\disk1).

Create a folder named ghost in easyboot\disk1 and put ghost.exe in this folder.
Attention! You cannot use Ghost32, only Ghost.exe intended to be used in DOS-environments. Ghost v.8 works fine and supports NTFS.
Create a boot disk in the same way that’s been showed in earlier example (Drive image 2002).
Edit Autoexec.bat
-------------------------------------------------
Autoexec.bat should look like this:

@echo off
mouse
MSCDEX.EXE  /D:tomato /L:R
PATH=a:\;a:\dos;R:\ghost
ghost.exe

--------------------------------------------------
Config.sys should look like this:

rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato /P:168,10
rem DEVICE=cd1.SYS /D:tomato /P:168,9

LASTDRIVE=Z

Note: As you can figure out above (in Autoexec.bat), the CD/DVD-reader unit is “renamed” with a DOS-command to letter R

Create the bootable image using this floppy. Name it something like ghost.ima. Use this image in Easyboot to start ghost.

Hope my English was readable?

Dmardenda - If you are creating image from a WinXP-system, don’t forget to delete pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys. Doing this decrease the size of image with up to 1,5 Gb.

You maybe need to use BartPe to achieve this.

Best regards

Merci eureka

Hi dmardenda

Seems that that your “Drive image 7 bootable disk” probably have a bootable record with the size of 2048 – basically the same as “normal” boot record according to bootable CD disk.

You should be able to save this boot record and then use it in the same way you start installation of WinXP or Bartpe. Save boot record with a short name (maximum 8 letters/numbers, like driveim7.bin). Copy all stuff from Drive image 7 bootable disk to EasyBoot\disk1 and start Drive image as usual in EasyBoot (run driveim7.bin)

Note: It is also possible that boot is made thru floppy disk-emulation, if this is the case; boot record must be saved as ima-record or img-record. Use UltraIso to save boot record and se what you get (what kind of boot record we are dealing with).

If you want to change path (create a new folder like “pqdi” in EasyBoot\disk1) and then edit boot-bin-file to point to this new folder. Please step back to page 10 in this topic showing how to edit bin-files (my answer to Zardoz2293) and use it as preference.

Best regards…

Where I can download plugin BartPe for drive image 7

I waiting your help Eureka

Thank's

Hi, dmardenda.
create bootable disk for Windows Xpsp1 + Drive image 7 using ezboot…
Quote: “I waiting your help Eureka” Well, don’t now if I’m that smart…? But trying to do my very best…

Well dmardenda maybe I’m fooling around, because I’m not sure what program I’m dealing with here.
But getting a little bit curios. I’m using powerquest drive image 2002 dos-version (and Ghost 8, dos-version) and both starts perfect from EasyBoot. What’s the difference between drive image 2002 and this “Drive image 7”…? Bye the way, there is even something called, Symantec Drive image 7? I guess quite many Drive image, wouldn’t you say? Seems (he, he, he) we are talking “bypass” with each other.

About; “Where I can download plugin BartPe for drive image 7?” There is probably no such plugin. You have to construct it bye your self (maybe a little bit tricky according to this “Drive image 7”).

Please confirm that I’ve got this right?
1. You have used BalderMultiboot, or by hand changed installation directory according to WinXP and this now works? Have I got this right?
2. Why change path to Drive image? (if you already make changes about WinXP), why not use original place EasyBoot\disk1\i386 (if this is the name of Drive Image-folder?)

However, if changing path to this “Drive image” - that seems to use a kind of  “SETUPLDR.BIN” witch you have edit and changed path inside - did you do this in all four places? If not, look how it is done in example down below (BartPe).

I suppose you using some kind of DVD to hold all this. Why not place BartPe on the same DVD?

Do it this way (I’m using BartPe in this way):
Create BartPe-stuff as usual, then open directory pebldr change name on i386 to Bart. When done, move “Bart” and other files like win51.ip and so on to EasyBoot\disk1  BUT LEAVE bootsect.bin  now start editing this file and force it to point to BART instead of I386. Before moving file, changes name from bootsect.bin to bartpe.bin and then move it to EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot  start BartPe in EasyBoot as usual (run bartpe.bin).

Now finally open folder Bart in EasyBoot\disk1 and edit Setupldr.bin force it to point to BART - must be done in four places - to do this: open Hex Workshop and use Edit. Then use “Find”, and in new window, set “Type” to “text string”. Write I386 in “Value”. Push OK make changes and use F3 to search next text string. Make all four changes in path.
Attention: always use capitals when editing in bin-files, and only change I386 and not more or less letters/numbers when editing bin-files.

Don’t forget to move “Programs” in pebldr to EasyBoot\disk1 as well.

As usual, no guaranties, but worth to test…
Best regards

Hi, dmardenda

Some thoughts about Bartpe and ”drive image plugin”.

Note: I’m using Sherpya plugin (xpe) in Bartpe, not Nu2Menu.
I have Powerquest Partition magic7 running in Bartpe - and using Bartpe as usual in EasyBoot – works perfect.
Sherpya plugin (xpe) is a little bit slow comparing to Nu2Menu - but Sherpya looks and feels better.

If using Sherpya-xpe: Drive Image 7 plugin could look like this:
------------------------------ Start of script

; PE Builder v3 plug-in INF file for Drive Image 7
; Created by eureka
; Freeware to be used at your own risk

[Version]
Signature= "$Windows NT$"

[PEBuilder]
Name="driveimage7"
Enable=1

[WinntDirectories]
a="Programs\driveimage7",2

[SourceDisksFiles]
; Note: not necessary to full fill with all files, could later be injected manually into folder
; Pebldr\Programs\driveimage7
; Change name on XXX.exe  to accurate name of exe-file (like pqdi.exe)
XXX.exe=a,,1

[Software.AddReg]
; Add to Start Menu\Programs
; Change name on XXX.exe  to accurate name of exe-file (like pqdi.exe)
0x2,"Sherpya\XPEinit\Programs","driveimage7","%SystemDrive%\Programs\driveimage7\XXX.exe

----------------------------------- End of script

This should work if using Sherpya plugin (xpe).

Instructions:
In plugin folder create a new folder named driveimage7  and inside this, create another folder named files
Now save script (look above) with the name: driveimage7.inf  place this file (script) in “files”
It should now look like this pe\plugin\driveimage7\files\driveimage7.inf  also place accurate Drive Image.exe file in “files”
Note: Only software intended for use in 32-bit environments will function.

Run BartPe, when finished inject all the rest of necessary files, according to Drive Image 7 into: pebldr\Programs\driveimage7
Now you have all necessary files in folder “driveimage7” to make it work.
Copy folder Programs and folder i386 (rename?) from pebldr to EasyBoot\disk1 as usual.

If you want a full function-Bartpe-CD, run Bartpe a second time but now choose to only “Rebuild the ISO image”, now you have the right ISO-file as well, just in case you want to use Bartpe as “standalone service-CD”.

Best regards.

Already works fine but when the computer restarts and the setup in vga modus means gui starts
The Source is example D:\I386 it should be D:\wn51\I386
and the setup wants to change it to D:\wn51\I386
also when setup starts it should not ask for the path.
have someone an idea ?

Hi dmardenda                                       On the keyboard: eureka

Download floppy-image with the size 11,52 Mb from here: < http://bootcd.narod.ru/fd011520.zip >

More images here - if you in future need more (and/or larger images): < http://bootcd.narod.ru/images_e.htm >

------------------------
Use WinImage (http://www.winimage.com/winimage.htm) to inject and manage files according to true image 8.

Please note that I’m not that well informed about True Image 8 (Acronis?).
However, as far as I know, there is a kind of  “auto create” of boot-floppy/CD in true image 8 (Acronis?). Use this when you creating this “super-extended size” of boot-floppy. Use img/ima in Easyboot as usually (like “run acronis8.ima” - or what you like to call it).

Attention: Download speed is hopeless slow on narod.ru (He, He - it’s like walking in mud). But it works!

Best regards from eureka (keep up the good work!)

Hi dmardenda                                       On the keyboard: eureka

Sorry about your troubles “dida”. Hope this may fix everything for you…

Do it this way:
1. Download and install UltraIso from EasyBoot download site.
2. Have also WinIso installed.
3. Open EasyBoot and push on Tools, choose to “Create new image” - you may later change name of this “extra large image”.
4. Choose appropriate size (maybe 11520 – that should be enough?).
5. Finally, choose any working img/ima-image in EasyBoot/disk1/ezboot as “Seed Image” – you may use Win98.ima (originally delivered with EasyBoot).

Now you have an image of right size – meaning big enough. It’s a nice image – but it’s not bootable at this point!! Do as following to make it bootable:

Open image with UltraIso. In UltraIso, push on “Bootable”, choose to “Load boot file” – go to EasyBoot/disk1/ezboot and use any img/ima-image that you now is bootable, and load boot-sector – you may use Win98.ima (originally delivered with EasyBoot).
Save file with new name (meaning acronis8 or whatever).

Now you may open this “super size-image” with WinIso and inject all necessary files according to trueimage 8.

regards from eureka

Posted by eureka on Oct. 22 2004,17:41
Hi dmardenda

Found out that its not necessary using UltraIso (but it’s still a nice tool to have!). Just use EasyBoot\Tools, choose size of image and then point to Win98.ima in EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot, as seed image. In this way you automatically create a bootable image with size of your choice – “easy as a cake”.

Using this, I have created images large enough to hold Paragon, ghost (dosversion with NTFS-support) and a bunch of other nice tools easily started from EasyBoot – each one on their own bootable image.

Regards from eureka. (Hope I haven’t mix it up to much for you dmardenda)

When the programmers decide to make a program easy should it then be called easyboot not until it is easy to make a boot cd. Dang dickheads don't know there ass from a hole in the ground.

Hello shakeer42675

” does anybody knows how to use ultraedit to change the entries for i386 to wn2k in the w2ksect.bin and setupldr.bin”

Why not use “the easy way”? Use: EasyBoot\Tools\Replace text

Refer to the: “EayBoot way”...

You have to be exactly according to caps (uppercase) or no caps when replacing text inside those files.
For example: changing text in “w2ksect.bin” you must insert I386 (not i386) in the field: “Text to find”.
When changing text in “setupldr.bin” you must use i386 (not I386) in the field: “Text to find”, otherwise you won’t find any text to change.

Attention: When changing text (i386) in setupldr.bin and (I386) in w2ksect.bin, use caps (WN2K) in both.

Hi there!

You all do a great work outhere. However, my problem is very complex, and I would like to ask for assistance on a matter: I have built a BartPE cd, with lots of stuff. I also created the Power Quest Partition Magic image, using the BartPE PM plugin... My problem is: when I burn the BartPE CD it works perfectly, the GUI is OK ( I use Sherpya's XPE plugin), BUT when I burn the CD created with EZBoot (this great piece of software) containing: BartPE, PM 8.0 for DOS and other DOS/Linux  images the BartPE GUI looses all the graphics (such as the start menu, the toolbars, etc) but all the other images work O.K. (such as PM8.0 for DOS)
I used, at first, a 640x480 background image, 8 bits in depth, this result. I changed to 800x600x16, believing that the VGA divers used by EZBoot don't work well with the ones BartPE uses, however, I got the same result, the statusbar appears, no Start Menu, no toolbars, and minimised windows don't show on the taskbar. My belief is that there is either something I did wrong, when creating the EZBoot ISO, or that EZBoot somehow does not work well with perinstalled enviroiments (such as BartPE). Please help, since I ran out of ideas! Thank you all and keep up the good work.

Sorry for the delay in my respond to you (even it's a Sunday). It's always some other stuff that occupies my time...

Some questions if you don't mind? (I now, it's boring but necessary...)
I assume that you wan't to start installation (WinXP as example) and you get this: "Couldn’t Find NTLDR"

1. Did you change path to RUK2 in "bin-loader"? bin-loader "run xxx.bin"  (resides in ezboot-folder and starts setup procedure= original name: "w2ksect.bin").
Note: I don't now the name on bin-loader of yours, so I just name to xxx.bin (name on the file itself doesn't matter).
Attention: Use uppercase (CAPS) when changing path from i386 to RUK2 in "bin-loader" (inside "w2ksect.bin"). Only one text string should be replaced here.

2. Make sure you have "Setupldr.bin" in folder RUK2 (together with the rest of "setup-files" and of course, folder i386), and did you change path to RUK2 in this file to ("Setupldr.bin")? If using XPsp2, four text strings should be replaced in "Setupldr.bin".
Attention: Use uppercase (CAPS) when changing path in this file to.

3. Finally: Make sure that folder RUK2 is named with uppercase (CAPS) as well. Not ruk2, must be RUK2

Sorry, correction from me concerning “I386” or “i386” (major difference there).

It’s “I386” in "w2ksect.bin" and “i386” in “Setupldr.bin” that you must search fore, in “Text to find” (if using EasyBoot-tool to change text with).

Great to hear that you solved your problems so far.
Have you tested fully out? I mean the procedure with copying files and rebooting computer (using Virtuell PC or whatever).

Common problems are that people forget to put ident files not only on the root (EasyBoot\disk1), but also (in this case) folder RUK2.

Make sure you have all the three win51, win51ip and/or win51ip.sp2 files in the root directory as well as in the “Setup-folder” (RUK2).

Notice (extra) different ident files depending to different system.

XP Professional:
Win51ip.sp1 - sp1 ident file
Win51ip.sp2 - sp2 ident file

XP Home:
Win51ic.sp1 - sp1 ident file
Win51ic.sp2 - sp2 ident file

And others according to Win2000 and so on…

Finally: Thanks for nice feedback!

D*MN, can't get it to work like it should :S

I have 2 xp installations on 1 cd (both xp pro, one is unattended, the other is just a stripped xp installation).

the menu shows up like it should, and setup starts too, but then the error shows up that the eula.txt cannot be found.

I have 2 directories for each windows installation, the structure is like this:

ezboot
WXP1
- ASMS
- LANG
- SYSTEM32
- $OEM$ (this dir is for the extra software in the unattended cd)

WXP2
- ASMS
- LANG
- SYSTEM32

I changed the sourcepath entry in the txtsetup files to WXP1 and WXP2, but the error keeps coming.

I also checked if the win51*** files are in the dirs, and they are.

I don't know how to fix it, any idea's?

Thanks

Test following: Make sure that you don’t have this files in WXP1 or WXP2: “1394VDBG.sy_” and “Txtsetup.si_”, if so, delete this two. In same time, make sure you have winnt.sif in WXP1 and WXP2 (not in i386!).

Finally, make sure you have this in winnt.sif:  MsDosInitiated="0"

Thanks for the quick response.

I just made a new iso, and I changed the entry in txtsetup.sif to "./wxp1", maybe that works (will check it out in a few minutes).

if that doesn't work, I'll try your suggestions, but you said "not in I386", but I don't have an I386 directory on my xpcd, do you mean that the WXP1 and WXP2 dirs have to be in the I386 dir?
Posted by V3N0M on Oct. 24 2005,05:13
:S, my solution didn't work, but I don't know which I386 directory you mean, because I have one on the original XP cd, but not on the multiboot CD (after running the wxp.bat, files are moved, and the I386 is gone).

should I copy my windows cd to the WXP1 dir, and skip the wxp.bat?
Posted by eureka on Oct. 24 2005,05:32
To V3N0M

WXP1 must be the ”setup-folder”. In here you have “setup-files”, AND FOLDER i386!!!!!!!!

Attention: In txtsetup.sif, setupsource must look like this:   \wxp1\

Structure should look like this:

EasyBoot\disk1\WXP1\i386
EasyBoot\disk1\WXP1\SYSTEM32
EasyBoot\disk1\WXP1\(all necessary files to initiate setup, witch is plenty of files, including txtsetup.sif and winnt.sif)

The same with WXP2-folder.

Note: This WXP1(or WXP2)-folders is only a subdirectory for holding setup-files.

A brief explanation how it works: When you start setup (running equivalent “w2ksect.bin”) this starts setupldr.bin in folder WXP1 (or WXP2). Files are then copied to two different folders on [C:] (one boot-folder and another folder holding installation-files). When finished, computer reboots and continue installation. Note: Setup program still needs to have CD/DVD in reader-unit!

Some point about OEM-folder: < http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314479 >

He, he talking about quick replay… I’m not that fast on keyboard…

You need folder i386 in WXP1 (WXP2). AND DO NOT rename it to I386

Step 1: I quote from “practical guide”: “Copy i386 folder to….” (in your case C:\EasyBoot\disk1\WXP1 (the same with WXP2).

Step 2: Copy wxp.bat from 'c:\easyboot\resource' to 'c:\easyboot\disk1\WXP1' and run wxp.bat from there. Same with WXP2.

Step 3: Make changes in txtsetup.sif (in WXP1 not txtsetup.sif in i386, you can delete file in i386) and finally inject your winnt.sif (unattended file) to WXP1 and WXP2.

Very nice, but if you would like to use nLitghted you need to following my suggestion down here.

Okay!

Step 1: Run wxp.bat with the original (full) i386-folder (you have already done this with success! So you may skip this now).

Step 2: When finished with step 1, delete original i386-folder completely and copy “nLighted” i386-folder to WXP1-folder (and/or WXP2-folder).

Step 3: Move or copy txtsetup.sif from this “nLighted” i386 folder to WXP1 (and/or WXP2-folder) witch hold boot-files. You need to do this because original txtsetup.sif that is copied (with help of wxp.bat) from original i386-folder, isn’t the same as the “nLighted” txtsetup.sif file. Major difference between these files! Don’t forget your winnt.sif file to make it unattended!

I just installed XP on vmware without any problems, and now I understand why it works: the files I used for the wxp.bat, are the nlited files, i described them to you as the wxp source files, to make it as easy as posible, but the files are the output of nlite.

it works like a charm, only a few bugs in my installation, like auto applying a theme file, should be done in the none-unattended install too.

but thank you so much for your explanation, now I can burn it to cd, and finally reinstall my pc without lots of work (yes it fits on a cd, 2 xp installations + 300 MB of extra apps (including office 2003).

Nice work from you.

Well I don’t want to be boastful, but I have three different XP: “standard system”, “normal light” and a “minilight” (last one reduced to a minimum for gambling) - and on same CD (699Mb), I also have BartPe (reatogo version). To make this you need to use “Optimize” when creating ISO in EasyBoot.

Anyway, nice picture (he, he, he) hope “uncle Bill” doesn’t se it....

Keep it up…

wow, that's pretty much in one cd.
I used the optimize function too, because the i386 dir is 270 mb, and I got 350 mb software on the disc, 2 * 270 = 540, + 350 = way too much :P this program is so cool.

and about that "hope that uncle bill doesn't see it" part, ah, what the ..., there's much more that I hope "uncle bill" doesn't see  :p

i'll do the last tests, and then the project is complete.

thanks for all your help.

cool picture, I chose to use a linux pic on the boot menu, and on the setup bg, there's so much possible.

I also removed al the MS propaganda from the setup (the texts about how good windows is :p ), and it looks pretty clear.

I'm about to run the last couple of tests, and then it's cd burning time.

never having to fill in the XP key, never look for the office cd, and winamp and so much more installable with just a few clicks.

2eureka Unfortunately I Have one more problem. This time with Windows 2003. I`am doing everything just like for WinXp and Win2000. I tried to install from original CD everything works fine. All installations  I do in VMware Workstation 5.0.0 build 13124. I tried both Win2003 and Win2003SP1.

Unfortunately I don’t have win2003, witch is a huge drawback for me.
But I do remember to have seen this problem (can’t for the moment remember where).

For the present moment a solution could be to use original place for i386? I mean, put i386 on the root as usual (EasyBoot\disk\i386) and other stuff (XP, 2000 and more) in “special setup-folders” as you already have done.
Or test this: During reboot (finished copying files) release CD/DVD from it’s unit and when you see "starting windows" (computer now starts from hard-disk) put CD/DVD back in it’s unit. Note: Only too see if it solves the BSOD.

I heard about problems according to computers with RAID/SATA (especially hardware with VIA Chipsets) when installing win2003. VIA Chipsets are very sensitive to RAID controllers hogging the PCI Bus. But it’s probybly something else in your case.

Please test this: add the whole contents of the entire I386-folder (from CD) to the same folder as Setup-files already has been copied to. You don’t need to overwrite boot-files. Note: The whole content of ISO won’t bee larger due to the option “Optimize” in EasyBoot.

Example:
EasyBoot\disk1\2003\i386
EasyBoot\disk1\2003 (and everything from i386 in this folder as well, of course including Setup-files as usual).

I tried Windows 2003 English enterprise edition, win2003 with slipstreamed service pack 1 English enterprise edition, and win2003 with slipstreamed service pack 1 Russian enterprise edition. All releases when I install it from separate CD works fine.
And you didn`t understand me I get BSOD before restart after setup determed my hardware and "setup starts windows" on this stage:

Okay it’s problems already when initiating setup (before copying files and that stuff…).

Only to be sure… I quote: “disk1\w2k3” I hope (and believe) you used CAPS (uppercase) with W2K3, in reality like this: disk1\W2K3 just to clarify…

I suppose you used w2003.bat and run this in W2K3 to copy setup-files to this folder?
That’s why I suggested using every file from i386 in “setup-folder” W2K3 (to make sure no file was missing).
But you still have problems with setup…? Hmm… This is odd!!!!

You may need to use “Gosh way” to get a well working boot-folder: < http://gosh.msfnhosting.com/part1.htm >

Note: If using “Gosh way”, make sure you have a copy of original boot.ini file in some “temp-folder” and then overwrite changed boot.ini when setup (without reboot) is finished,”. You have boot.ini on the root [C:] Note: It’s hided!

As usual you need to change path in Setupldr.bin and in txtsetup.sif when using this bunch of fresh setup-files.

Please, note: Unfortunately I don’t have win2003, witch is a huge drawback for me.

But still… it should work… but in your case it doesn’t? Something with “hardware” in VMware Workstation?

hi all

i read everything, but nothing worked for me. i want to make a Multiboot DVD with WindowsPE, Windows XP/2000/2003 and other stuff like seagate seatools, ...

i've still got the problem with the NTLDR error. i renamed "i386" AND "I386" to "w2kp" (windows2000 pro), but i've still got the problem.
i also tried with windows 2003 server, here he says that the EasyBoot\disk1\wn03\vga850.fon file is missing. i realized that this file is in the "I386" Directory (EasyBoot\disk1\wn03\I386). i copied the whole I386 dirctory to "EasyBoot\disk1\wn03" but theres still the error. then i saw that the file is "vga850.fo_" but it must be "vga850.fon". im getting crazy!  :angry:
why must everything be so complicated!

sry for my english.
please help me. thx a lot ;)

äähm i'm sorry, i didn't mean rename. i meant "replaced the text" in these 2 files "Setupldr.bin" and "w2kp.bin" (w2ksect.bin)
Posted by eureka on Oct. 31 2005,16:36
To Legnad

About this folder of yours "w2kp", be sure to use CAPS (uppercase) like this: W2KP  not w2kp and this goes to the folder itself too, and of course the same when changing text in Setupldr.bin and same in “w2ksect.bin”.

About I quote: “EasyBoot\disk1\wn03\vga850.fon” This vga850fo_  isn’t copied with help of w2003.bat. But it is copied when creating XP-version (using wxp.bat). Use right mouse button and choose to Edit w2003.bat and then insert this:   copy i386\VGA850.FO*    At least now “vga850.fo_”   is copied to boot folder (W2KP).
Are you sure you haven’t mixed things up with? I mean what i386 folder is witch?

Attention: about this, “EasyBoot\disk1\wn03\vga850.fon” I repeat, must bee: “EasyBoot\disk1\WN03\vga850.fon”, as you can see, uppercase in WN03 not wn03!!!!! Same with changing text in Setupldr.bin and “w2ksect.bin”.

Anyway, I urge you to use “Gosh way” (“reducing size”) to make things run smooth. Link here: < http://gosh.msfnhosting.com/part1.htm >

Attention: If using “Gosh way”, make sure you make a copy of original “boot.ini”-file (before you go ahead). Put “boot.ini”-file in some “temp-folder” (or on floppy) and when setup (without reboot) is finished, overwrite changed boot.ini (It’s always changed due to the fact that the system thinks you are doing a new install). You have boot.ini on the root [C:] Note: It’s hided!

If using “Gosh way”, this create one functional boot-folder and one reduced folder with rest of setup-files.
You need to do this to every one of Windows XP/2000/2003.

I noticed that DamasterCheech have some good stuff to making it easier to every one.

No problems with your English – works perfect. Look at my English – far from perfect, but seems to work good enough (I hope, he, he…).

1. i forgot to copy this file "CDROM_IP.5" to "EasyBoot\disk1"
2. then there was the "VGA850.FON" error. ive added copy "VGA850.FO_ " at the end of the "w2k.bat" then i ran it.
3. now i have the "NTDETECT"-error. :(

Some help to explain…

Quote: ”now "NTDETECT failed" at the major startup of the setup”.
You mean when computer reboots (finished copying files)?
If so, this "NTDETECT"-error is caused by the fact that you don’t have necessary ident-files on the “second root”.
Ident-files ("CDROM_IP.5" and more files) must reside on the root [C:] and on “second root” witch is folder below i386. Example in your case:

EasyBoot\disk1\ CDROM_IP.5 (and more ident-files, because this is “the primary root”)
EasyBoot\disk1\ WN03\ CDROM_IP.5 (and more files, and a bunch of setup-files. Note: this is “the second root”)
EasyBoot\disk1\ WN03\i386\ (ident-files not necessary in here)

A brief explanation how it works: When you start setup (running equivalent “w2ksect.bin”) this starts setupldr.bin in folder WN03, and setup is looking on the root [C:] (“primary root”) for CDROM_IP.5 (and more ident-files).
Files from i386 are then copied to two different folders on [C:] (one boot-folder and another folder holding installation-files). When finished, computer reboots and continues installation. Installation program now looks on the “second root”, witch is WN03 (you have changed this in “txtsetup.sif\Setupsource”. That’s why you need ident-files in two places.
Note: Setup-program still needs to have CD/DVD in reader-unit!

hm you've got to know that i'm talking about win 2k. the ntdetect-error is at the start of the installation (directly after boot). i select the win2k setup in my boot-menu and then there it is. the ntdetect-error is before the "vga850.fon". strange.

i need a new structured manual how to add windows 2000 pro setup to the bootmenu/bootdvd. the one in easyboot help doesn't work. windows xp SP2 works, but windows 2000 and (server) 2003  don't.

aah, seems like it works. i've copied the "I386" from the cd in "...\disk1" and renamed it into "MW2K" (..\disk1\MW2K\). then i copied these "cdrom_nt.5" and "cdrom_ip.5"-files into "..\disk1" AND "..\disk1\MW2K\" as you said, and it seems to work. But i haven't got a "I386"-directory in "..\disk1\MW2K" which will be used later (as you say). that would mean that it doesn't work again... as i say: it won't work, neither in 1000 years.

**PLING** i know! im so dumb and i've copied the whole I386-directory because of the "vga850.fo_"-error. i only need these "vga*.fon" / "vga*.fo_" files!

i hope it works. ;)
if it works i'll write a structured manual here.

Step 1. Use EasyBoot >> Tools >> “Make floppy Image”  Note: This image is later used as “Seed Image” and must be created from floppy “one” (start-floppy of several floppy).

@Guest> Bootable CD is just a regular CD with a bootsector (known as a boot image) u add when making the iso
so copy ur files to dir
and open nero(bootable cd/dvd)/ulraiso(data cd/dvd)
set the bootsector to the loader (the easyboot loader, loader.bin)
make iso
burn
im a linux person now who uses syslinux and mkisofs (-b ./boot/loader.bin --no-emul-boot --boot-sector-size 4)
just relocate the distro structure to a subfolder (YOU MUST INCLUDE INITRD IN THE SUBFOLDER OR IT WILL NOT BOOT) and set the root= in isolinux.cfg to the new subfolder and initrd= to the new location of the initrd
simpler than windows yet waaaaaaaaaaay different

Hello all,

I've a problem booting my CD with Windows XP SP2 installation CD.

This is what I have done:

1. With UltraISO I've saved boot information from WinXP Sp2 CD to folder \disk1\ezboot\winxp.bif
2. I have copied everything from WinXP CD to folder \disk1\win98\ (I already have a folder named I386 in

\disk1!)
3. I have moved \disk1\win98\i386\*.* to \disk1\IWXP\*.*
4. I have copied \winxp\WIN51, \winxp\WIN51IP and \winxp\WIN51IP.SP2 in \disk1\
5. EasyBoot -> Tools -> Replace text; File = disk1\IWXP\SETUPLDR.BIN, Text = i386, Replace with = IWXP
6. Notepad -> disk1\IWXP\TXTSETUP.SIF -> In the section [SourceDisksNames.x86] I have replaced all '\i386'

with '\IWXP'
7. EasyBoot -> Tools -> Replace text; File = \disk1\ezboot\winxp.bif, Text = I386, Replace with = IWXP

Then I create menu in EasyBoot normally, create my ISO and burn it.
When I click on menu (to load windows xp installation) an error occur:
NTLDR not found...

Help me!
Thank you and sorry for my english!

To Sandra S

Structure should look something like this:

Example showing WinXP-pro.

EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot
EasyBoot\disk1\win51 (and more ident-files)
EasyBoot\disk1\ IWXP \ a bunch of boot-files including win51(and more ident-files)
EasyBoot\disk1\ IWXP \system32
EasyBoot\disk1\ IWXP \i386 (ident files not necessary in here)

To achieve above mentioned structure, do it this way:

1) Make a folder named  IWXP  under 'c:\easyboot\disk1'
2) Copy necessary ident files (win51 and more files) from XP directory, to 'c:\easyboot\disk1' and to inside of folder IWXP as well.
3) Copy I386 folder to 'c:\easyboot\disk1\ IWXP '
4) Copy wxp.bat from 'c:\easyboot\resource' to 'c:\easyboot\disk1\ IWXP ', and run it there (this creates a bunch of boot-files including a copy of folder “system32”).
5) Make a copy of w2ksect.bin in 'c:\easyboot\disk1\ezboot' and name it winxp.bin
6) Start EasyBoot, click 'Tools'->'Replace Text', browse file 'c:\easyboot\disk1\ezboot\ winxp.bin', and specify  I386  as "Text to Replace",  and IWXP  as "Replace to", then click 'Replace', 1 occurrence should be replaced. Note: use uppercase (big letters) to IWXP
7) Do step 6 to 'c:\easyboot\disk1\ IWXP \setupldr.bin', and replace  i386  to  IWXP  4 occurrences should be replaced Note: use uppercase (big letters) to IWXP
8) Open 'c:\easyboot\disk1\ IWXP \txtsetup.sif' by NotePad (or UltraEdit), search for 'SetupSourcePath', and change SetupSourcePath = "\" to SetupSourcePath = \IWXP\

Attention: don’t forget win51-files according to “prim.ROOT and sec.Root” (take attention to folder structure explained above here). Explanation here: < http://forum.ezbsystems.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=1188 >

As option put winnt.sif (unattended file) in IWXP -folder together with the rest of boot-files – in case you want unattended setup.

In EasyBoot set menu as usual: run winxp.bin

Hello!
I`ve made Win98/WinXp/win2000 multiboot DVD, but there is a problem with it. During the WindowsXP installation there isn`t the sign "Setup is inspecting your hardware..." and instead of seeing the very first stage where shows "Press F2 to install drivers for Sata/Raid" "Press something to start ASR" and etc I see black screen. And in a some time I see a disk selection dialogue, after it installation goes fine. But i`d like to fix this problem. Help me please.

Thanks for your tutorial, I haven't problem now!!!

Two questions:
1) can you explain this to me?
quote: "As option put winnt.sif (unattended file) in IWXP -folder together with the rest of boot-files - in case you want unattended setup."

2) I want to add BurtPE live cd, that use the SAME ident-files in disk1 (root) folder (win51 etc...). Can I share the ident-files between win xp installation CD and BurtPE live CD?

Thank you for your help eureka,
Regards

To Sandra S

Answer to question 1: unattended is an option to run setup (installation) completely automatic. Note: it’s possible to create an unattended file (winnt.sif) that only runs a “half automatic” installation. Read here: < http://www.overclockers.com/tips1158/ > and here: < http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=70 > and of course, surf to Microsoft and read more according to different unattended installation procedures. Note: The easiest way to use option with unattended is to create a file named winnt.sif this is perfectly described on that site < http://www.overclockers.com/tips1158/ >  Test and enjoy…

Answer to question 2: Yes , you can (and should) use the same ident files.

Hi, I realy have made a bootable cds and dvds

But the problem here is that I'm using All (windows 2000 SP4,XP SP2,2003 SP1)

The DVD work fine and it start the setup but when the pc restart and start installing, the Setup asks for the path (SP CD), and I tried to define the path eg. ROOT\XPPR\I386, but I must define it for every file will be installed.

I want to know If it is not working with the SP versions.

Thanks and best regards

Please read this: < http://forum.ezbsystems.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=1188 >

Quote: “I want to know If it is not working with the SP versions”.
And  the answer to your question is: It works!

In your case: “tried to define the path eg. ROOT\XPPR\I386” In this case you need ident files on both the root and in folder XPPR (together with the bunch of boot-files you already have collected there). Note: Ident files not necessary in folder I386.

I have read this forum from page 1 to 24 in 10 hours (!), made many ISO, and finally :
I've succeeded in creating a EasyBoot ISO with :
Acronis Loader (with Director Suite, etc...)
BartPE based on XP Pro SP1 and a second based on SP2
MS-DOS bootable floppy, and
Ultimate Boot CD

I had some problems with putting 2 versions of BartPE, but with many errors like NTLDR not found, "Please insert CD named SP2 of WinXP...", CDBOOT: Couldn't find NTLDR or Error while booting on the CD/DVD...., I've succeeded ! Simply in replacing i386 entries by WNXP in SETUPLDR.BIN (\WNXP) and wnxp.bin (\ezboot), putting WIN51IP and other ident-files in root directory, do not active Joliet, because I had a lsass.exe problem (Could not initialize application....), and it works!

Thanks a lot and excuse also my English, I am French

Then, how is a boot-file made (like w2k.bin, etc...), 'cause that is not very explicit by opening some one with notepad?

Posted by Cromorg on Oct. 17 2006,20:36
when editing win2kboot.bin and winxpboot.bin files use ultraedit becauseof other method error while systemboot .it says "Couldn't load NTLOADER" .open winxpboot.bin with ultraedit and find SETUPLDR.BINBOOTFIX.BINI386 click "I"(I386) and at leftside you will see  49 click 4 and than push button for WNXP "57 4E 58 50" and save it open w2kboot.bin push button for WN2K "57 4E 32 4B " and save it .You wont see  "Couldn't load NTLOADER" while DVD booting

sorry for my very bad english :D

floppy images (*.ima / img) larger than 2.88mb can not be bootable anyway. It is El Torito limitation.

For Windows Server 2003;

1- Do NOT ANY CHANGE boot file of Server 2003
2- Direct copy and Do NOT ANY CHANGE Entire CD to "Disk1" directory

Because I can't run correctly other ways

Well...I thought Easyboot was EASY....like MagicIso...that program does all the work...Maybe EasyBoot should be renamed to tweakboot or doityourselfboot....I am a bit dissapointed...

Hello gauda_78

Quote: ”I am a bit dissapointed”.

Well, in my opinion EasyBoot is a well functionally utility if used as “bootmanager” (witch is the main reason to use EasyBoot).
In fact, it’s even possible to run EasyBoot from USB devices (using a simple workaround).

So question is ???  What part of EasyBoot disappoints you most?

MooreRuby:I havent that much expirience with easyboot..just used it a few days...but I just mocked All the xp and vista files in the root of the dvd, extracted the boot image (using Magiciso) and used run vista.bif etc...And it worked out of the box.

Balder: Okey..the above was easy..but...maybe I expected it to be just what it says...an easyboot...that is EASY...with everything..hehe. But okey...Ill give easyboot thumbs up for the menu editing and the flexibillety (pardon my french)...all the stuff you can do with it is great...but I wouldnt use the word easy...I have tried to make a DVD with Backtrack3, winxpsp3, Vista ultimate, Ubuntu Hardy Heron, gparted, SuperGrub, Ultimate boot cd,  and Linux Defender. I have managed to work out everything but Backtrack3 and LinuxDefender. (believe me...it wasnt easy to get the other OS/tools to work). They all boot fine..but Backtrack3 gives an error message saying BT3 data directory not found and then stops. he BT3 directory is present at root-DVD so it is very strange, but they have a strange way of doing it. They are actually running a script to search for the BT3 dir...I really hate bad scripting (cause the scripter hadnt thought of MultiDVD).
Anyway...the Linux Defender cd is based on KNOPPIX..and I think I hate them allready...they give me an error message saying: "Can't find KNOPPIX filesystem"...and again..the KNOPPIX dir...is at root DVD. Knoppix suggested I should use Knoppix nodma on this error..but I have tried it and it doesnt work. It has nothing to do with dma, cause when I use the same files alone on a cd (without easyboot) in virtualbox (which I use all the testing on) it works just fine...I have tried using bcdw2 and isolinux integrated in easyboot...I even tried booting the direct iso-image with easyboot and bcdw2...but it refuses to work...
So...any ideas to make this work?

PS. Look, it is no doubt..easyboot is an amazing piece of software..no doubt. It is just so frustrating when you expect things to be easy and you spend days on trying to solve it...:(

@gauda_78

Well that’s a statement that is more clarifying

Overall comparing with freeware, easyboot is superior in many ways :p
The big drawback seems to be how to start linux based applications :(

As you seem to be aquinted with grub I suggest you use a floppy image.

Do it this way:

1. Create a working floppy image that loads grub inside itself (let’s call it grub.ima).
2. In file menu.lst inject text that responding to right “boot-sequence” for your linux-application.
3. Copy grub-image to folder ezboot and use “standard-command”: run grub.ima

You can use different grub.ima with different menu.lst and with different name to separate them apart in folder ezboot.
In this way EasyBoot itself only starts grub.ima not the “boot-sequence” of different Linux-applications, this is where grub enters the scene. The trick is to find out right start parameters (text lines) in menu.lst
In my opinion, it’s this kind of workarounds that makes easyboot so versatile

Note1: as I’m no expert in Linux I can’t guide much deeply what parameters in menu.lst that’s responding to different Linux-application, it’s just an idea for a workaround. In theory it should work but in practice ???
Note2: its xoben that are the “controller” of this board (only to clarifying) I’m as you, humble user of a fine piece of program.
---------------------------------
Edit1: Tested Backtrack3 (bt3-final.iso) seems to work. Do it this way:

1. Open downloaded Backtrack3 ISO file (I prefer UltraIso) and extract folder “Bt3” to EasyBoot\disk1     Continue with deleting folder  “Bt3” in ISO file. Keep folder “boot” in ISO file when saving.
2. Copy (or move) Backtrack3 ISO file (now heavily reduced in size) to EasyBoot\disk1 and rename also ISO to bt3.iso
3. Create bootable floppy image that have grub boot sector, read here: < http://www.ezbsystems.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=2472 >
Change text lines in menu.lst to this

timeout 0

find --set-root --ignore-floppies /bt3.iso
map /bt3.iso (hd32)
map --hook
root (hd32)
chainloader (hd32)

4. When saving modified floppy image to folder ezboot, rename it to bt3.ima
5. Set menu command to:  run bt3.ima
6. When creating ISO, make sure you use low case to letters (do not set this run Bt3.Ima use run bt3.ima) and check "Allow lower case".

Edit2: To fix BitDefender (you need the complete ISO). Open bitdefender-ISO and copy folder knoppix to EasyBoot\disk1  continue with deleting folder knoppix in ISO and save changes to this ISO, in same time rename ISO to bitdef.iso. Move (or copy) bitdef.iso to EasyBoot\disk1.
Make a copy of floppy image (bt3.ima) and rename this to bitdef.ima. Move  bitdef.ima to folder ezboot. Pull out text file menu.lst and change text to:

timeout 0

find --set-root --ignore-floppies /bitdef.iso
map / bitdef.iso (hd32)
map --hook
root (hd32)
chainloader (hd32)

Inject this changed menu.lst back to bitdef.ima and save changes. Use command in menu:  run bitdef.ima

When creating ISO check “Allow lower case” and check “Joliet”.

Note1: I tested this in Virtual PC and it works
Note2: I tested this starting EasyBoot from USB device (UDF/Stick) and it works perfect :D

Thanks Balder! :) So kind of you to try help me with this...
Actually the grub was a little frustrating...eventually I got it to workbefore I read your post which you made seem so easy. :)
But I didnt run it like an iso...isnt there some problems running it like an iso? Like installing and stuff..I know backtrack isnt probably a good example..but winx for example..wouldnt it be problems this way?
Actually I found out that Linux Defender and Backtrack worked perfectly after enabling Joliet in making the Iso-file...but I guess I could have enabled the "lower case.." also to make it work.

Anyway...my problem  now is the USB Kingston 16 GB- datatraveler-stick...I cant make it run easyboot...
Is it possible to run easyboot via Grub?

Posted by balder on Jan. 13 2009,05:39
Hi again gauda_78

Yes as I stated: “When creating ISO check “Allow lower case” and check “Joliet”.”

But now to the issue you asked: “Like installing and stuff” Yes and no in both times. You can’t use this approach to setup Windows XP etcetera. Files inside this kind of ISO are “hard coded”. But in many cases you can map and boot ISO using grub. Example is “boot files” that belongs to Linux Defender and Backtrack. That means less files and folders on the root of CD/DVD build. I used a separate folder with name ISO where I put this different ISO. In grub menu.lst I only change path from:

find --set-root /bt3.iso  (note: bt3 is my “downsized” backtrack ISO  with size 6,23 MB, just to clarify)
map /bt3.iso (hd32)

to this path:

find --set-root /iso/bt3.iso
map /iso/bt3.iso (hd32)

I use grub here because I find it easy as a workaround to have a cleaner environment on the root of CD/DVD.
Second reason to use grub, is that I use this to load/run EasyBoot ISO from USB device witch is a pretty heavy reason to my opinion.

When creating this kind of CD/DVD (including different linux\isolinux) I strongly recommend the use of Ultraiso when creating ISO (use loader.bin in folder ezboot as “boot loader”).
When creating ISO and using UltraIso set following parameters:

For CD Filesystem set: Check Joliet and check RockRidge

For ISO 9660 FileName Format set: Windows/Unix(31) and check Allow Lower Case

For Joliet FileName Format set: Extended(110)

Attention! Setting above works for “LiveXP” (Reatogo/BartPE) including Linux/isolinux systems but not in combination with WinXP setup files. This kind of combinations seems hard to overcome. I guess we have to accept one “rescue”-CD/DVD and one “super-setup-CD/DVD. Seems not possible to merge this together without having problems :(

If I understand you right you want options to run EasyBoot from USB device. Yes this is possible. Extra interesting is that you have a rather large USB “datatraveler-stick” :p

It’s described < here > (in case you want to do it “manually”)

Or you can use one of my scripts - download < here >
Read carefully information in help (press help button in script) :cool:

Edit: Here is a ”gift” from me. Download < here > (It's the same EasyBoot-ISO file as "internal iso" in script that makes USB device bootable)
Copy this G-zipped EasyBoot ISO to folder “iso” on your USB device (that you already have run my script to=bootable via grub). Change text in menu.lst on USB device to this:

timeout 0

find --set-root --ignore-floppies /iso/balder.iso.gz
map --mem /iso/balder.iso.gz (hd32)
map --hook
chainloader (hd32)
boot

This will load G-zipped EasyBoot-ISO to memory to avoid problems according to "File for drive emulation must be in one contiguous disk area".

You can investigate my type of EasyBoot ISO following up with open G-zipped “kick-starter” images that I use. In this way you now have floppy images that already are prepared with grub MBR. All you have to do in future is to change text in menu.lst in this “grub images”. EasyBoot can load these G-zipped images with a breeze as EasyBoot has built-in command “memdisk”.
Note: to make file as small as possible I have excluded bmp images when creating ISO in EasyBoot.

Don’t you agree that EasyBoot is versatile as this program can be used in so many different situations and be used on both CD/DVD as well as on USB devices?

For Win98 read < HERE >

For WinXP-sp3 and Win7 read < HERE >

For Ubuntu read post nr:16 < HERE >
Note: Testing UBUNTU in Virtual PC is a very slow procedure. It can take several minutes with some text in the window before anything happens... :p

For Mandriva 2010 KDE4.

Give some examples of what you mean!

Note: EasyBoot has limited options to launch ISO-files – but this is solved using my script collection, or especially designed "grub-kicker-images" :O

You have download of script-collection below in every post I write in this forum :;):
