After getting an error message from UltraISO when trying to make an image of an audio CD, I decided to search this forum for more info on just what is going on.

Unforturnately, I didn't find anything which was helpful.

What few posts I did find about this topic often were answered with a reference to see another post for further info.
However, the link provided to this post does not work. Here's the "bad" link:

Could someone please point me towards the post which this link is supposed to reference?

Please post the error message in detail.

The "error" message is:
"Cannot save audio CD as standard ISO format."

The message is easy enough to understand: if I want to create an image file of an audio CD I have to use a format other than "Standard ISO".  But the message tells me nothing other than that UltraISO can't do what I thought I wanted it to do.

I'd like to know WHY what I thought I wanted to do cannot be done. I tried searching this forum, but didn't find any further information about this aside from that link (in my first post) which does not "work". (It just takes me to the main forum page. It does not lead to any posts in this forum).

BTW, as long as I'm asking, when I tried to use the "Check CD/DVD" function with an audio CD I got the response "Sorry, this version cannot check an Audio CD".

What is it about audio CD's that makes them so "difficult" for UltraISO to do anything with??

Thanks zjohnr for the explanation.

Standard ISO format is designed for storing data CD/DVD images only, audio CD cannot be saved in this format anyway. Please select BIN/CUE or NRG format instead.

Sorry, this forum has been moved to a new place, some old link is not valid and redirected to the main forum page.

This is a limitation of UltraISO (to be considered at future versions).

Hi

Could i not create a bin/cue image of an audio cd and convert that in winiso to an iso image? Would that be a work around?

Why do you guys insist on using an iso as imagefile for audio cd's? :)
An iso contains "cooked" data, without subchannel storage possability and it's mode 1 2048 bytes and can't store cdtext
A cue/bin is mode 1 or mode 2 2352 bytes with subchannel data and can store cdtext....
