Hello,

The cd/dvd drive in my laptop is malfunctioning. It has a strange problem. The drive can NOT read or boot from CDs but has no problem reading or booting from DVDs.

As the laptop is out of warranty now, replacing the drive is turning out to be too costly.  :(  The laptop also does not support booting from external cd/dvd drives.

For data cds, I have copied all data from cds to dvds and been able to use them, but I am having problem in burning bootable cd iso files to dvds.

I tried to directly burn the bootable cd iso file to a dvd, but this does not seem to work.

How do I convert the bootable cd iso file to bootable dvd iso file OR burn a CD iso to create a bootable DVD.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
ML

In general, you can burn small ISO's (CD images) to recordable DVD disc's and use it with no problem.
