The answer is YES. But more steps are needed:
1) Download and setup Bart PE Builder from < http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ >
2) Create a bootable ISO from bootable Windows XP CD
3)  Open the ISO image  (C:\pebuilder3110a\pebuilder.iso for example) and write  to a USB flash drive just like ubuntu. (USB-ZIP+ is recommanded for bootable PE USB)

PS: You may also search and download a pre-made BartPE ISO from internet, and write it to a USB flash drive with UltraISO.

Good Day Dear Xoben,

How can I use UltraISO to make a bootable usb drive from a bootable floppy?
It's actually a Ghost bootable floppy which uses PC DOS.

Thank You Very Much,
Best wishes,

Roberta

1) Choose 'Bootable'->'Make Floppy image' to get an .IMA file
2) Open the .IMA file
3) Choose 'Bootable'->'Write Disk Image' to create a bootable USB disk

Note: PC DOS may not work properly on some computers, it is highly recommanded to use DOS 98 (MS-DOS 7.1).

Yes. It works this way:
1) Create a bootable USB WinPE, copy ISO image of Windows XP setup CD to the USB disk
2) Boot from USB WinPE, mount  XP ISO to a virtual drive (such as ISODrive of UltraISO) and setup Windows XP from there

I don't full understand, why I need PE Builder? and how it works?

It's just like the Linux example: you need the bootable system ISO before you can write it to usb. Since Linux is free, you can readily download such an ISO image. Since xp is not free, you need to create the ISO image yourself.

You may also try WinBuilder: < http://www.winbuilder.net >

Good Day Xoben,

Thanks to your Greatly Appreciated help in this thread, I have successfully used UltraISO to convert my bootable Ghost floppies to bootable USB memory sticks.

Now I would like to convert a bootable BartPE based CD ISO image (miniPE) to a bootable USB key....

So I followed the following steps:

(1). Opened the bootable ISO image with UltraISO 9.2
(2). Bootable > Write Disk Image (to the USB key)

Unfortunately when I then try to boot from the generated USB key Nothing happens (doesnt boot).....

I noticed that UltraISO changes a Directory name from
I386
to
MININT

The USB key size is a Kingston DataTraveller 1GB.

When I generated the usb key, I told UltraISO to write it as USB-HDD+
I have also done it as USB-ZIP+ with the same result.

Could You Please Help me?

Thank You very Much,
Best wishes,

Roberta

PS:
What are the differences between write USB-HDD, USB-ZIP, USB-HDD+ and USB-ZIP+ ?
When & what choice should be made?
.

Good Day Xoben,

All that happens is that the BIOS keeps asking for a boot device.....

Thank You Very Much,

Roberta

PS:
Why does UltraISO change the Directory's name from i386 to MININT?

Hi Xoben,

It says "Boot from USB device", but nothing happens....
..& it then says to insert a boot device & then to press any key....
...& it just keeps repeating this if I press any key....

So it fails to recognise the boot sector?

Thank You,
Best wishes,

Roberta

OK. Please try another way:
1) Make sure that you are using V9.2.0.2536 update#1
   http://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/download.htm
2) Use USB-HDD+ as 'write mode' and try again

Good Day Xoben,

I am using UltraISO 9.2.0.2536 which I downloaded & installed on 26May08.

I have already tried writing in USB-HDD+ mode, and I got exactly the same problem/failure as I got with USB-ZIP+ mode....
Btw, USB-HDD+ was the first write mode I tried.

Thank You,
Best wishes,

Roberta

Good Day Dear Xoben,

Thank You Very Much for your prompt response....  :)

How come it has the same ver & build numbers?
And the dowloads page still says ver 9.2.0.2536 (which is the same)....,
..and does Not mention any Update #1......

So as far as the user is concerned, the version available for download is still the same one as before.....,
..& he thinks that there has been no new version or build released.....
Very confusing....   :(

I suggest that the build number be changed in the downloads page so as to stop any confusion.....

I have now dowloaded the new release....,
..& will install it later today......
And will report back on the results....

Thank You Very Much,
Best wishes,

Roberta

Greetings Dear Xoben,

Installed UltraISO 9.2.0.2536 Update#1.
And then did the following:

(1). Write as USB-HDD+,
& when I tried to boot from it got the following messages:

--------------Start quote----------------
Start booting from USB device

Remove disks or other media
Press any key to restart
--------------End quote----------------

Then when I pressed any key the above messages repeated*1, & then the PC locked up....

(2). Write as USB-ZIP+,
& when I tried to boot from it got the following messages:

--------------Start quote----------------
Start booting from USB device

Remove disks or other media
Press any key to restart
--------------End quote----------------

Then when I pressed any key the above messages repeated "forever"....

So I didnt get a PC lockup if did the write in USB-ZIP+ mode.....

Btw, One of the directories generated on the USB key (in both ZIP+ & HDD+ modes) can not be accessed.....
If I try to go into that directory (or to delete it), the system (Win XP) says

"K:\Programs\Emule+
refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer or on a Network......."

That directory has an executable file in it (in the ISO).....
So it seems that there is consistent corruption of the generated file & directory structure of the USB key.....

Thank You Very Much,
Best wishes,

Roberta

Greetings & Salutations Dear Xoben,

I installed the special private build, & the directory named eMule+ can now be accessed OK.....

Then I did the following:

(1). UltraISO 9.2.0.2536 Special Private build
I then generated the USB key from the ISO in USB-HDD+ mode....,
..then copied NTDETECT.com & NTLDR to the root directory as they were Not there.....
Got both from the MININT directory (called i386 in the ISO).
NTLDR is the renamed SETUPLDR.BIN

Then I tried to boot from it, & got the following messages:

--------------------Start Quote--------------------
Start Booting from USB device

MiniPE is now taking control!  Stand by for launch sequence....

INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing, status 18
Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.
--------------------End Quote--------------------

Note: The file txtsetup.sif is present in MININT

(2). UltraISO 9.2.0.2536 Original build released 26May08
I then generated the USB key from the ISO in USB-ZIP+ mode....,
..then copied NTDETECT.com & NTLDR to the root directory as they were Not there.....
Got both from the MININT directory (called i386 in the ISO).
NTLDR is the renamed SETUPLDR.BIN

Then I tried to boot from it, & got the following messages:

--------------------Start Quote--------------------
Start Booting from USB device

MiniPE is now taking control!  Stand by for launch sequence....

Launch sequence started

MS Windows miniPE Edition logo screen
--------------------End Quote--------------------

And this MS Windows logo screen stayed on the screen
permanently....

Summary
Get better result in (2) with the original 9.2.0.2536 released 25May08.....
What's going on?
Why?

Thank You Very Much,
Super Best wishes,

Roberta

Addendum
When UltraISO 9.2.0.2536 Special Private build is used
to generate the USB key in USB-ZIP+ mode Only get the
"Start booting from USB device" message,
& Nothing else.....

Don't mind, roberta. Please check your PM for a new suggestion about bootable UFD creation.

Jesshhh..

What is the solution here!  I just bought this program yesterday, and wish I had read this forum first!  I have the EXACT same problem USB boot does NOT work no matter what I do.  I have wasted hours....

I am using bootable images from BartsPE, UBSCwin, MOA, etc....  The all boot via CD fine.  When I use UltraISO it does not work.

I haven't even gotten as far as a spash screen...

My results are the same as the initial results posted here!  I've tried  usb-hd,usb-hd+,usb-zip,usb-zip+....

So, what is the proper/correct process that works reliably?

BTW, why is the directory renamed?

I am running :

version 9.2.2536  download yesterday!

My thumb drive is Kingston DataTravler 1 GB

Thank you;

Hello,

I know how to make my system boot from various devices...
My notebook was trying to boot from the USB stick, but..

My results were the same as

--------------Start quote----------------
Start booting from USB device

Remove disks or other media
Press any key to restart
--------------End quote----------------

I will say I was able to make a bootable USB flash using the UBCD4win v3.13 method, after failing with UltraISO...

So I do know the USB stick is capable, and my system(Dell D820, Core Duo 2Ghz, 2 gig ram, XP Pro) can do it.

So, need any other information?

Thx
