Topic: Copy protection not transferred when saving image?

I have a faulty disc (scratched) that I needed to fix

It's a game CD with safedisc 1 for protection

I dumped a CCD disc image with Alcohol 120% and then opened the image in UltraISO.

I replaced the 6 corrupted (scratched) files with intact versions from the installed game directory in program files.

They were all exactly the same size (no difference between corrupt and working copies)

I saved the image as another copy.

However the original image is slightly bigger than the new one.

I opened both images in UltraISO and noticed the LBA of every file was different between the two images.

I mounted and scanned both CD images with A-Ray. it reported that the original image (with corrupted data) had Safedisc. It says that the new (with fixed data) has no protection.

I assume that for some reason the copy protection was not transferred between images.

Is this true? the new image is not much use to me if the game does not recognise it as a working copy, so the protection needs to be intact...

You are right. Copy-protection information is non-standard, it will be lost if edited by UltraISO.

Speaking about protections, I have a protected DVD whixh is in perfect state (not the same case as agent24).
If I create an ISO of it from UltraISO, will it works on my netbook that have no physical dvd drive?
