Hello,

I think the U3 platform (< www.u3.com >) is the future of portable computing.

What about the idea of releasing an U3 version of UltraISO ?

Thanks for your response.
Regards,
DarkNe0

I don't believe there is any need to repackage as a U3 app... it's already portable.  Just copy a few files to your USB drive as per the manual/faq.

In fact, to have UltraISO appear in the PortableApps menu (http://portableapps.com/), all one must do is create a new folder under your PortableApps main folder, and copy the exe, help, and ini files over.   You might want to check out PortableApps, as it is non-intrusive, unlike U3.

Hi RDPetruska,

Thanks for your feedback.

To be more precise, I don't think about an U3 version of UltraISO as a replacement for the portable version. It is different.
The U3 framework is, when you are used to use it, a very secure and handy platform.
There is no need to make a lot of changes in the way the program is compiled, but just make some changes in the way it stores its settings by using flat files and using framework-provided %U3_xxx% environment variables to make it work properly. After that, it is just a matter of packaging.

In addition, it is not a very clean way of proceeding by installing some apps with the portable way on a U3 drive.

The main reason why I asked this to EZB forums is that, even if U3 provides a toolkit to package almost any application in U3, I don't want to make a separate version of UltraISO on my side and have to repackage it on each new release. And I think most of U3 users will find this application useful, it could also avoid some other U3 users think like me and make their separate version. Using an official one will be much more trustworthy.
