I use MS OS_EN_XP_2003_2428.5 DVD ROM, extracted boot sector and try to dupliacted the DVD with reduced size to DVD-R. I saved ISO then tried on Vmware. If I reduce ISO size to CD it is ok, but for DVD Vmware broken like this:
VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (vcpu-0)
NOT_IMPLEMENTED C:/ob/bora-19175/bora/devices/misc/sio.c:732
A log file is available in "D:\vmachine\vmware.log".  A core file is available in "C:\Documents and Settings\jdai\Application Data\VMware\vmware-vmx-1496.dmp".  Please request support and include the contents of the log file and core file.
To collect files to submit to VMware support, run cscript vm-support.vbs.

When I use MagicISO there is not such problem, but my version cannot write file more than 3GB.

This may be a problem of VMWare. Please burn the ISO to a DVD+RW and try it out.

It is not VMware, tried with burnt DVD. It is possibly due to Windows boot system that is too old to support more than 4GB. A post on web said rearrage ISO file so i386 folder within 1st 4GB solve the problem, but I tried a few ways don't work. MagicISO has similr result so I believe it is CD/DVD boot problem itself.
I use UltraISO optimization to partially solve my problem with original data 4.5GB and 5.28GB I can get <4GB ISO and can boot, this feature is UltraISO is increible.
But, I hope you may still do some arrangement, not only i386, but other middle folders also, becasue I use MS released DVD, where multi-boot is via files and folders like 2ENP, SEEN, so I guess all of them shall be within in 4GB to allow boot.
I don't know how MS bypass the problem, may be each layer of DVD it uses <4GB data only.
Such feature would be sth allow user to re-ordering folders in an ISO..
Another suggestion is document for your s/w, espcially easyboot .
