I have 2 questions and example.

1. Is it possible to change root directory
2. Can you load from a subdirectory?

Here is how it looks
EasyBoot-->disk1-->ezboot
                               Windows Vista
                               Windows Xp

I don`t want it to be messie thats why...
soo is it possible to boot the setup files from the Windows Vista directory if not.

Can it be made possible please

Thank you, for you time

@bugme

Quote: ” is it possible to change root directory?”

Yes it is possible :)
I sent you a message but I now realize that you want to change the root-folder “disk1”
And yes this is possible too – it’s the same procedure as when you change name to the “boot-folder (folder ezboot)
Note: You can only use one “root-folder” at a time :O

Test this:
1. Change folder name “ezboot” to “bugme”
2. When you start EasyBoot next time you get a black screen as EasyBoot cannot find any menu (***.ezb) in folder ezboot (folder ezboot doesn’t exist anymore, as new root folder is bugme)
3. Push button “Open” in main window when you have started EasyBoot and scroll to folder bugme and open your earlier created ***.ezb-file.
4. You must save each ***.ezb-file (sub-menu’s etcetera) so changed folder root-name will take affect :O

You can do the same to folder disk1 (but not recommended)

No it is not possible.
We need a 4-letters folder name to create a boot-folder for Windows_XP :O

Quote: “2. Can you load from a subdirectory?”
Yes you can do the same as from the root folder and as from the “boot-folder” – but you are recommended to put subdirectory inside the boot-folder (in normal case named Ezboot)

@bugme

Sorry for misunderstanding your request :D

Unfortunately you cannot launch setup of Vista\Win-7 from a subdirectory of any kind – it must reside on the “root” of CD/DVD – which for EasyBoot is folder “disk1”.

However you can (as far as I know) launch Ubuntu directly from ISO (no need to extract folders and files to folder “disk1”).

Excellent – at least a little bit less messy on the root of your DVD – than copy everything from Ubuntu ISO to the root (folder disk1).

Quote: ”but can`t you make it possible do to what is say with a script or anything els? ”

No :O
As I pointed out - you cannot launch setup of Vista\Win-7 from a subdirectory of any kind.
This limit corresponds to Vista/Win-7 - or shell we say – to Microsoft as being the provider of these OP-systems :O
It does not correspond to limits related to EasyBoot, so we can actually not do that much about your request - though it’s an interesting request ???

However there is some theory that corresponds to launch Vista\Win-7 ISO-file directly (as the Ubuntu example).
In theory this is possible, but we are running in to problem with support of drivers.
If this solution in the future can be a reliable path – I can construct a script to automate the whole process – but as said – no solution at present time.

We have the same problem to WinXP. We need the WinXP-“boot-folder” on the root (4-letters name) to make it work. We cannot put WinXP-“boot-folder” in folder ezboot as example – it needs to be put on the root.

If it was possible I already have constructed a script to offer you as help :;):  – but the limit is inside these OP-systems themselves :(

Regards balder
