Hello,

My question may be as simple as a few lines to answer and yet I have managed to give myself a headache over this. I spent at least 2 weeks trying to find my own answer without acking and here I am now.

So..... here we go.

I would like to make my bootable cd to allow for viewable files and directories when it viewing the CD in Windows after it has booted. Seems all I can get is the invisible image that was burned. The reason I would like to do this is simple.

The CD would be a diagnostic type of CD. It boots windows and allows for a workshop of applications that could be used after windows boots up.

So..... How can I make the CD share it's bootable(iso image) and readable/useable files on the same CD.

Thanks and hoping I explained this well enough to understand what I needed to know.

You are not going to be able to read the contents of the ISO. You need to extract the ISO to individual files.

Do you burn the .iso image as an ordinary single file ? It's an image of an entire CD-ROM disc!

You can do as following:
1) If you has Nero, just click 'Burn CD' in EasyBoot control panel, select CD-R device and specify the .iso image, then click 'Burn'.
2) If you are using Roixo, right click on the .iso image, and select 'Burn' at popup menu.

Hello again,

I do use Nero 5.5.4.0.
Microsoft was able to make readable files in WinME and XP on their bootable CD. Along with allowing the cd to be bootable you can view files on the cd in dos and windows explorer. I understand that a bootable image is not readable.

I started this diagnostics CD and thought an addition for it to be bootable along with using the standalone diagnostic software I have on it would be perfect. If I cannot see or use the diagnostics software because it is trapped in the bootable image made then I don't see an advantage to adding a bootable part to it.

as far as Nero....I set it to write a bootable cd image.

I'm not sure I follow about exracting files from the iso if I just created the iso for a cd. as far as I'm understanding the cd has to be one entire image file and not extracted files sitting on the cd from an iso I just made.

please help me understand the things I don't understand
Sincerely,
Slider

Another reason maybe 'Hidden' directories, DOS or Windows explorer do not 'see' them.

EasyBoot set it's boot folder ('ezboot') as hidden directory by default, make sure your tools are in 'c:\easyboot\disk1' folder, not in 'c:\easyboot\disk1\ezboot' folder.
