hello balder ,

I bought a new 64GB USB stick recently. But I found it's really different from 32GB USB stick

32GB USB stick ... default Fat32
64GB USB stick ... default exFAT

Do you still remember you teach me to make an Easyboot menu with USB harddisk (Fat32) , and divide them into Disk1, Disk2, Disk3, and Disk4.

1. I copy then Easyboot entire from this USB harddisk to USB 32GB stick. It boot exactly like the USB harddisk. No error found.

2a. When copy to 64GB USB stick with exFAT, it boot error and said retry.

2b. With Fat32 format, it's bootable with normal Menu show up. When choose like Acronis TrueImage, it start with :

    Starting Acronis Loader ...

Then hang up. This happen the same of NTFS.

3a. I tried to build a brand new Easyboot menu with only one iso file Acronis TrueImage.

3b. Format the 64GB USB stick with Fat32

3c. Use EasyBoot-USB_v2 to write mydisk.iso to 64GB USB stick, also hang up.

3d. Format the 64GB USB stick with exFAT

3e. Use EasyBoot-USB_v2 to write mydisk.iso to 64GB USB stick, it boot up with only a blinking cursor

4. I use UltraISO 9.6.2.3059 with USB-zip and USB-zip+ to write mydisk.iso to this 64GB USB stick. It boots with a blinking cursor only.

I really what to do with this 64GB USB stick, my original thought is this 64GB USB stick is large enough for me to put a 4GB Easyboot menu in it. And manage to rest full space of it.

Please help.

Hmmm… interesting notes from you (as always :;): )

This is ‘untouched soil’ for me :O

I cannot test such large USB thumb-drive for the moment (not in position to own one)
However the issue is interesting to sort out – if possible ???

There might be some workarounds to this problem

You can use NTFS and launch ISO-file created by Easyboot and in this Easyboot ISO you can still launch ISO-files such as ISO;s created from NT6-systems (MsDart60 etcetera as example)
Further more… You can (most likely) still use ‘frugal solutions’ (separately copy needed folders and files manually to the ‘root’ of you USB drive and only have reduced ISO-file in that Easyboot ISO-file)
Attention! Unfortunately there are some limits if using NTFS
You cannot in normal case have Linux/knoppix in such build as it mostly requires FAT32 – NTFS is a bad idea if having Linux-systems onboard your build!

Above also means you must use my EasyBoot-USB_v2.script to write mydisk.iso to 64GB USB stick using NTFS as file-system (you must tick ‘Force format to NTFS’ in script)

You cannot use file ‘ezldr’ when using NTFS, so you are stuck to use my script and simply launch the whole ISO (‘mydisk.iso’) created by Easyboot
-------------------------

About ExFAT:

EasyBoot cannot run from such file-system at present time
My script ‘EasyBoot-USB_v2.script’ cannot work on ExFAT-file system (grub doesn’t like the ExFAT)

ExFAT seems more useful to save photos and large movies and other large files as there are (close to) no limit to file-size on such file-system and also possibilities to use (close to) unlimited size to your hard-disk
-------------------------

I’m curios… Could you please test using NTFS and launch ISO using my script (force format to NTFS in script)

What happens… ???

hello balder ,

I've tried to use "Force format to NTFS" , with same result : [Starting Acronis Loader ...
] and hang up.

Actually I've tried every way to solve this exFAT , but they all failed.

At the meantime I've successfully use another program Win-Builder WinPE_SE to create the same function boot-menu. But it's troublesome and take times and unstable. Not so free as Easyboot. Anyway it works.

Thanks a lot.

If I remember correctly , you moved to your new flat for a certain time. Why do everything yourself ? Take care , you're about my age.
