I have a Win 2K CD that boots fine. I want to make a bootable CD, but put other files on it.

I followed directions, extract boot file, make floppy image, found the boot image file in "local dir" and set the boot image, added files I wanted to the CD, save it as an ISO file, burned the ISO file to CD.

Windows Explorer shows all the files on the CD, but when I use the CD to boot I get an error:
Boot from ATAPI CDROM:
1. FD 1.44 MB System Type-(19)
NTLDR is Missing
Press any key to restart

I'm not sure if this error is because the CD isn't bootable or if it's from the files on the CD.

Anyone got a clue? I've already made 3 coasters...:)

Thanks!

Sounds like you added the bootstrap, but missed some other files...  when you copied the CD, did you also copy the hidden files too?

;o))))

If you want to add some files to the Win2k Setup Disk, why not make an ISO image of the whole disk, then use UltraISO to add in the files you want...

this is how I do it - works every time...

Hope this helps.

cheers, Nic.

Thanks Niccload,

I was wondering why I wasn't doing it that way also. This is a first for me and I am following instructions. I read I could edit the ISO file so I am going to try that next.

Thanks!

That made it as easy as 1-2-3. Copied my Win2000 stuff to an iso file, then deleted everything and replaced it with my other stuff and it worked like a champ.

However I am concerned that the process of extracting CD boot info and creating the floppy image, then setting the boot image and adding the exact same files didn't work.

Was I doing something wrong to begin with?

Thanks!
