After numerous testing and various UltraISO settings, I have to conclude that UltraISO v7.0 and earlier versions have a major bug which corrupts files. For the record, both EasyBoot and Microsoft's CDIMAGE do not.

The problem is replicable. I imported both the Enterprise & Standard Editions of Windows 2003 \i386 source files as well as some customized programs so that it can be built unattendedly. Among these files are the drivers of some Win2003 non-support RAID and Fibre Channel adapters and a customized TXTSETUP.OEM. The total size worked out to about 1.177 GB before optimization.

ISO Properties was set to 703MB, Optimize, DOS(8.3) for ISO9660 FileName Format. The rest of the settings are default (greyed out)

Once the ISO is created, the filesize worked out to 677.792 MB.

However, if using UltraISO to view some of the text files such as the TXTSETUP.OEM within this ISO, it showed garbage rather than "words"

If I burn the ISO to a CD and attempt to build a Windows Server 2003, after the first reboot, the following error message is shown:

...Setupdd.sys cannot be loaded.
Error code 4

Under other circumstances, this error message normally occur in Windows NT and XP where there may be some hardware failure.

If I were to use Easyboot to do exactly the same with exactly the same files, it worked fine.

If I were to use CDIMAGE to manually create and optimize this with exactly the same files, it worked fine. The filesize is this case is 683.568 MB

Using UltraISO will never be the same for me anymore...

Thanks for your detailed information.

Can you compare the ISO images this way:
1) Use virual CD software, such as SoftDisc from http://www.ezbsystems.com/softdisc/download.htm
2) Mount ISO images created by CDImage and UltraISO
3) Then compare entire disc  by WinDiff and tell us the differece between them.

PS: We have created many NT based bootable CDs, such as Windows 2000 3in1, Windows 2003 6in1, etc. They all works properly.

I now get a possible answer: SOME *CRACKED* VERSION MAY NOT WORK WHEN 'OPTIMIZE' IS CHECKED. Please use only official trial or registered version software.

Actually I am and was using a legally purchased UltraISO v7.0. The problem persisted despite this. I still have no idea what application(s) may be conflicting with UltraISO. Another possibility could be the heavily hardened security policies that is currently on my system.

Rather than tracing the 2 dozen or so applications and the thousands of security settings in my system, I installed it onto a *fairly* clean machine and it seems to be working fine now.

Anyways, apologies for any misunderstanding and inconveniences...

The same corruption happened to me with a promotional copy of version 6.1.  Not a very good advertisement.  It will hardly encourage me to buy the latest version.
