hi buddies...My computer configuration is AMD Athlon 2600+, Windows XP SP2 installed. All partitions are NTFS partition..i have one image file (.iso extension) on my computer. The size of this image file is 697MB. When i open this image file in Nero Image drive the file system is CDFS and it shows total size as 697 MB.. however when I select all the folders and files in Nero image drive and check the properties the total size is 4.98GB.. I know that the image file that i have contains the data as equivalent to 5GB.. My issue is how can it be possible to compress this enormous amount of data into 700 MB ISO image file..

When i open the same image file in Ultra ISO (ver 7.6.1.1125) the same thing happens it shows the image file as bootable CD/DVD and total size as 5107 MB.. When i click on Properties the iso 9660 filename format is Windows/Unix(31) and Omit iso 9660 version number is checked..

Friends please tell me how can it be possible to compress 5GB of enormous data into 700 MB iso image file.. is it the issue related to the file system or any compression algorithm technique... My email id hi13182@gmail.com... suggestions via email are also welcome..Thank you..

this must be the "optimize" option which enable to have multiple instance of a file on a ISO without increasing the size. The file is only writen once to the disc.
