I'm getting this with UISO (version 9.2):

1# Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 (Service Pack 3)
1# Recorder: (P:)PLEXTOR DVDR   PX-716A  1.11
2# On the fly burning
3# Media type: DVD-R
4# Number of blocks in ISO image is 2297616
5# Preparing media ...
6# Requesting burn at Maximum speed
7# Setting optimum power calibration ...
8# DVD-R/RW media failed to set OPC
9# Caching of files started
10# Caching of files completed
11# Burn process started, speed is 16.0X (22160 KB/s)

It happening only with UISO.

Thanks,

This is a warning message, and it was reported by your hardware.

I believe you, the problem is that it's happening every time and only with UISO.

Plextools XL, Nero, Alcohol works just fine as far as I can tell.
Maybe UISO doesn't work with PoweRec too well. I don't know, that's why I'm putting here to be investigated.

Thank you.

Did you get a similar message as 'Setting optimum power calibration'?

I have a few more drives - NEC, AOpen. LG.

Only the Plextor is giving that warning.
It means that with UISO/Plextor i'm not getting an optimal recording.

I would like to know why is that so. I think you would like to know that too since Plextors are known to be the best drives .

If possible this should corrected.

Here is something I believe you already know but is always good to remember. I took this from a document from Plextor:

"Some drives, such as those from Plextor, go beyond OPC. In Plextor drives, a scheme called PoweRec (for “Plextor Optimized Writing Error Reduction Control”), automatically identifies the manufacturer, model, and special features
of the media. Then PoweRec adjusts the laser power and writing speed so they’re at the optimum settings for that disc. The drive even adjusts to individual differences between discs, ensuring that you get top-quality results from any disc specified as “compatible media.” "

Nero and Plextools have a PowerRec option. Alcohol calls it "Auto selecect best Write Speed", so I believe in case of an error in the PowerRec feature some message would pop out.

If you think not, just skip it.
