The new ISZ format sounds interesting - is there any information on whether or not any of the Virtual CD/DVD utilities (Daemon Tools, Alcohol, etc.) will support it?

Hello mwb1100, the new ISZ format is not supported by Daemon-Tools or Alcohol 120% yet.

Ok, but is it supposed to be supported later and work and decompress in real time? It seems quite slow (as zip) when opening files in UltraISO. Or, it will need to decompress before mounting?
Why it shows the password in open text?
What is the purpose of splitting images? Are you supposed to be able to mount split image without combining? Like one part on DVD, another on HD?

THanks.

Yes.

No, no need to decompress the image, only the sectors needed are uncompressed.

What is the purpose of splitting images?

For examples:
- Store DVD images on FAT volumes (Windows 98)
- Split a DVD image to several parts and burn to CD discs, as well as burn large file (200GB, for example) to several DVD discs.

At present, UltraISO can burn multi-part ISZ images directly to one DVD/CD.
The future version will ask for segmented file location if is not found from default folder, so you can store them on different media.

Thanks,
I was asking about mounting tho.
If I can only mount split image if all segmented files are in one folder (like it is with PowerIso), it is useless - I would better use Winrar to split image.

If I could have two DVD's with segments, insert them in two drives, and then mount whole image in virtual drive(without copying anything to HD) that would be what I have been looking for!

Yes, RAR is very good for files and folders, but ISZ is more convenient for ISO CDs and DVDs:
1) Use
You can open, burn and mount ISZ directly with no need to uncompress it first
2) Backup
You can burn a whole disk with 200GB+ data to multiple DVDs, using ISZ format, no temporary space is used

It will be great  :) , the PowerISO .daa virtual drive emulator will have noteworthy competition! If Alcohol and/or Daemon Tools add support for these .isz & .daa it will be really cool   .
