Complete Noob here.

I don't understand what an ISO is so when I read the sticky about how to burn a CD it makes no sense to me.

I have a 275Mb avi file. I just want to put that file onto a 700Mb CD-R

I don't know how to do this
I don't know what the ramifications are regarding
Disk at once
Track at once
I don't know if the TAO applies to CD-R

I.e. can I burn my avi and then at a later date burn another file into the remaining space on the CD-R.

I am using CD-R not CD-RW

I have just installed UltraISO and it all looks rather confusing.

Using Win 98 SE.

Tips:
1) Start UltraISO
2) Press F3 or Choose 'Actions'->'Add files' to add the avi file
3) Press F7 or choose 'Tools'->Burn CD/DVD image' to burn a CD-R

PS:
1)The default settings works with most CD recorders, no need to change them
2) At present, UltraISO will finalize disc by default, so it is not possible to burn another file into the remaining space on the CD-R

Ok

I done 1,2, & 3

and that was easy enough

but before I proceed to burn...
Speed I have the option of 4x 8x or maximum, default to maximum. Is there any advantage to choosing a slower speed, i.e. will the possibility of errors be minimised or should I not worry and just go for the max.

Disc at once or track at once what do they mean? Why am I being given the option? I'd have thought TAO means you can write on the disc again ata later date. Does TAO finalise the disc as you say?
Does TAO leave the disc open?
In order to play the avi file or transfer it to another computer does the disc HAVE to be finalised?

There's one final box under this (in the burn pop up screen) called "Image file" with a browse button on the right hand side, what do I do with this box...leave it blank?

Thanks

1) 'Maximum' should work properly. No need to change this setting unless you have compatible problems with other computers.
2) The disc will always be finilized,  both for DAO and TAO.
3) Leave the "Image File' blank (or save the image to an ISO first)
