Forum: EasyBoot Topic: Problems with Hiren 14 started by: wrzlgrmpft Posted by wrzlgrmpft on Jun. 10 2011,02:50
Hi,just tried to integrate Hiren 14.0 but none of the possible methods work. I copy all of the cd in Disk 1 Solution 1: I try to use run isolinux from the HBCD-Dir results in a checksum error. Solution 2: I extract the bootsector of the cd and put it in EZBoot dir. When running the .bif with bootinfotable, the resulting cd starts reading, but never stops, the drivelight stays on forever. Solution 3: When running the bootsector from Solution 2 without bootinfotable comes the funniest part: When mounting the resulting iso in vmware and booting a virtual machine from it, Hirens CD boots properly. When burning it to a DVD and booting a real PC, trying to call Hirens CD results in a "read error" . It cannot be a drive or medium-related problem, cause I treid different media and did it on several PC. Something must have changed on Hirens CD. Has anyone already figured out, how to implement it? The last version worked without any prob for me. Thanks in advance Posted by balder on Jun. 10 2011,05:21
@wrzlgrmpftAs far as I can notice, this is your first post on forum @wrzlgrmpft - So I say welcome ![]() Quote: ”just tried to integrate Hiren 14.0 but none of the possible methods work” I have downloaded Hiren 14.0 (Hiren is getting pretty big this days ![]() Anyway… I used my script “easyboot-iso.script” and pushed on separate button “Intergrate Hirens-BOOT-CD” and followed instructions given by script. Tested in “Virtual PC” and it worked fine. Also tested from USB stick (used easyboot-grub-iso.script to transfer build to USB stick) and tested “Mini XP” “Linux parted magic” and some of the DOS-tools, and everything worked alright for me. Note: problem with Hiren can be related to “hardware-problems” and may not be related to Easyboot or my scripts. If I’m able to launch and run Hiren from EasyBoot launched from USB device, there shouldn’t be any problem run from CD/DVD-unit as well ![]() balder Posted by wrzlgrmpft on Jun. 10 2011,14:08
Thanks for your answer. But I do not want to use any script, cause my Easy-Boot AIO-CD is already several years old and for several reasons I do not want to change a thing at it. I only want to replace the last Hiren with the latest. So want to copy the Files from the CD somewhere (Disk 1) and eventually the boot-sector somewhere and if necessary change the commandline for the menu entry. That always worked with hiren. But it doesn't now.The fact is, that the iso worked on a vm-machine, but the burned DVD didn't (at the same virtual machine and on some PC). And there wasn't a prob with any of the apps on Hiren, it didn't even show the menu. Posted by balder on Jun. 10 2011,15:04
@wrzlgrmpftQuote: “But I do not want to use any script, cause my Easy-Boot AIO-CD is already several years old and for several reasons I do not want to change a thing at it” Hmmm.. I think you misunderstanding the way my scripts work ![]() 1. Script doesn’t change anything on what you have in folder disk1. 2. script doesn’t change your AIO-build in any way 3. You must however check “Joliet” as linux is embedded in Hiren build 4. And you must check “Allow lower case” as grub is used in Hiren So basically…. If you are so afraid of my using my scripts ![]() Do it this way: 1. Extract folder HBCD to folder disk1 as usual (make sure name to folder HBCD is uppercased (BIG LETTERS) 2. Create menu in Easyboot as usual and use menu command: bcdw /hbcd/grldr 3. Check “Joliet” and check “Allow lower case” when creating ISO in EasyBoot. That’s it ![]() Note: this responds to Hiren v 14.0 and later ![]() balder Posted by wrzlgrmpft on Jun. 10 2011,15:22
Thanks very much. Will try tomorrow morning. The "allow lowercase" and "joliet" is new and also the menu-command is different. HBCD is already there.Pls don't be offended, but I like to do things "manual" cause then I better understand what's going on. Again thanks for your effort. Posted by balder on Jun. 10 2011,16:20
@wrzlgrmpftQuote: ”The allow lowercase and joliet is new” Well yes and no Anyway, as we must use “Allow lower case” your AIO-build might not work properly. If your AIO-build has NT5-system involved (typically WinXP, server-2003 etcetera) then you must run “uppercase” to files and folder names in those folders (including both “BOOT”-folders as “Setup”-folders) ![]() Otherwise when checking “Allow lower case” you get ntldr not found or similar when launching setup of NT5-systems ![]() You can use my script “easyboot-uppercase” to run uppercase to all files and folder names. Then your AIO-build works regardless you check “Allow lower case” or not ![]() You can point to folder disk1 and run uppercase to everything as this doesn’t affect EasyBoot in any way ![]() Attention! If run uppercase, make sure you do not have folder HBCD in folder disk1 as folder HBCD should not be uppercased (temporary remove folder HBCD while run uppercase and put folder back before creating ISO). I know it looks a little bit complicated but solution above do work. Checking “Joliet” does not affect anything in your AIO-build, but “Allow lower case” is a problem maker, but can be solved with mentioned solution (run uppercase). However, you can just as well use my script “easyboot-iso” with its built-in button to integrating Hiren. Check “Run uppercase to files and folders” while pushing "Integrate Hiren BOOT-CD" Because when script is run its process and discover folder HBCD, it moves folder HBCD while run “Uppercase” and then move it back to folder disk1. If I may say for my self - without boasting – all my scripts have its cleverness. My scripts is not designed in a haphazard way – checkboxes in scripts has a meaning Quote: “I like to do things "manual" cause then I better understand what's going on” Excellent decision – I always admire people that use their brain to 100% ![]() Regards balder Posted by wrzlgrmpft on Jun. 11 2011,04:08
Thank you very much. It really didn't work without your "Uppercase"-Script. As much as I hate to copy an exe from unknown origin into my root directory and execute it with minimal UAC-Settings, it worked! Now it all runs as expected. Remains still the question, why one of my methods worked from the mounted ISO, but not from the resulting CD. Thanks again, your help is appreciated. Posted by balder on Jun. 11 2011,12:36
@wrzlgrmpftQuote: ”It really didn't work without your "Uppercase"-Script” Yes I know - and as you stated - UAC must be set to lowest level while script is doing "its things" ![]() Quote: ”Remains still the question, why one of my methods worked from the mounted ISO, but not from the resulting CD” He, he seems to be an issue for the “academic world” ![]() I guess we never find that out ![]() Anyway – my argument to solve your request worked in the end – including how to launch Hiren 14.0 ![]() Keep it up @wrzlgrmpft balder Posted by ahmerkhan on Jun. 12 2011,18:38
I have integrate Hiren Boot Disk 14 in my Multiboot DVD.Follow these steps. * Go to HBCD folder and Copy "isolinux.bin" & "isolinux.cfg" files to EZBOOT folder * Go to HBCD\Dos and Copy Dos.gz to same folder HBCD\Dos boot.gz * Copy both Dos.gz & boot.gz to EZBOOT folder. * Extract Dos.gz to EZBOOT\Dos.img * Extract boot.gz to EZBOOT\boot (rename file "Dos.img" to "boot" with no extention) Open Easyboot and use this as Menu command. bootinfotable;run isolinux.bin Posted by rainey on Jun. 18 2011,03:19
Well, you can still use the old method that i used back on Hiren's 10 with the new Hiren's 14It was just the simple launch bootinfotable;run /hbcd/isolinux.bin Posted by balder on Jun. 18 2011,03:53
@raineyAs I haven’t earlier been discussion with you I say welcome ![]() Quote: ”Well, you can still use the old method that i used back on Hiren's 10 with the new Hiren's 14” Yes you have partly right – but could you really launch “DOS-Programs” ![]() ![]() I solved this by making a copy of “dos.gz” in folder HBCD/dos and renamed copy to “boot.gz” and copied this file back to HBCD\dos Now I was able to reach “DOS-Programs” in Hiren. I’m pretty sure this is a kind of “bug” in Hiren - left from older versions of Hiren ![]() However, I always use my script “easyboot-iso.script” to integrate Hiren as that method also give me option to launch Hiren from USB device – which non of the other method doesn’t offer ![]() balder Posted by rainey on Jun. 19 2011,01:51
Well i will have to do more testing , but from the Hiren menu i did open mini Xp mode and the Dos Programs mode.I went through the dos menu but did not run enough to say it working 100%. I did run some and press M and got the menu back like normal. I had already done, your steps about coping the files, but then removed them and checked it still worked. Edit: I guess i forgot to remove the boot.gz file in the HBCD\Dos directory as it is still there, maybe that is why it works. I did delete them out of the easyboot directory. I ran Hexedit and a partition tools they ran fine. Then some others but some of what i ran did not work. I though it was because of my PC hardware is to new for these old dos programs. When i ran Quickview i got a no audio card , and when i ran PCI and AGP info tool it hung but i don't have a PCI or AGP slot in this PC (Virtual Machine). Oh Ya, I have not set the DVD to Joliet or Lower case and it works fine. I have a main menu with Hiren, UBCD4WIN, Ghost Sub menu, True Image Sub menu, Partition Magic, and it is a Part PE disk also. @raineyQuote: ”I have a main menu with Hiren, UBCD4WIN, Ghost Sub menu, True Image Sub menu, Partition Magic, and it is a Part PE disk also” Nice collection of tools – can always come in handy ![]() The “Hiren-syndrom” is definitely working if users follow post nr; 11 If it works without boot.gz, then it can be related to motherboard etcetera ![]() The “hardware-syndrom” = works on some computers but not on others – we have to accept this - and make our solutions as compatible as possible ![]() Taking in consideration all different hardware and soft-ware solutions out there - I think we all doing a great job ![]() balder Posted by Leodemon on Aug. 28 2011,09:38
@Raineyi have been wrangling with hiren/ezboot since 2 days but never been able to boot it without the msg of sorry image has cheksum error ... bla bla ... but ur above mention code bootinfotable;run /hbcd/isolinux.bin worked like a magic .[CODE] now i have mini xp with ezboot. great job rainey and thanks alot Posted by balder on Aug. 28 2011,11:17
@LeodemonQuote: "i have been wrangling with hiren/ezboot since 2 days" It depends on what version of Hiren you use ![]() Sure @rainey method works but you cannot launch it from USB stick as example ![]() Or use the "easy way"; use my script "easyboot-iso.script" to integrate Hiren balder Posted by Leodemon on Aug. 28 2011,19:15
@baldersure i launched the mini xp from usb using grub to load ezboot then used rainey command line bootinfotable;run /hbcd/isolinux.bin to launch mini xp packed into iso created by ezboot for reference i m using following menu.lst entry to launch ezboot iso in grub with timeout seting of 2 sec so nobody see the glimps of grub but only ezboot menu.. title Launch EasyBoot find --set-root --ignore-floppies /easyboot/iso.iso map /easyboot/iso.iso (hd32) map --hook chainloader (hd32) boot Posted by balder on Aug. 29 2011,02:35
@LeodemonQuote: "sure i launched the mini xp from usb using grub to load ezboot" Hmmm.... Could you please enlighten me what method you used (the whole process). I tested this method: 1. Used my script "easyboot-iso.script" and pushed button "Integrate Hirens BOOT-CD" (I did not use recommended menu command from my script, instead I used @rainey recommended menu command in EasyBoot: bootinfotable;run /hbcd/isolinux.bin and saved (Save) changes in EasyBoot. 3. Used my script "easyboot-grub-iso.script" to first create ISO-file and then pushed "Make USB bootable and transfer ISO-build to USB". 4. I could launch MiniXP without problem but this is not any "hot news" it was expected as MiniXP in Hiren is loaded to RAM. However Parted magic did not work and as far as I could notice, DOS-tools didn't work ![]() Basically, the only thing I was able to use was MiniXP which on the other hand, was expected ![]() I tested method above from point 1 to 3 but instead used by script recommended menu command in EasyBoot: bcdw hiren.img Note: as I'm using the extracted folder HBCD on the root of USB there is no point in checking "Allow Lower Case" this is only needed in case you run from CD\DVD-unit. Grub (grldr) is not case sensitive when run from USB or harddisk. And anyway, ISO-file created by EasyBoot is only used to launch "grub-kicker-image" that then launch menu system inside HBCD-folder. The folder HBCD is NOT present in EasyBoot ISO-file - folder is copied to the root of USB by "easyboot-grub-iso.script". Another different method is described < HERE > Read especially post nr;2 and post nr; 4 (Alternative solution) And finally.... If your goal is to only reach MiniXP in Hiren why don't you simply copy Hiren ISO-file to folder ezboot and use menu command in EasyBoot: run hiren.iso But again, not all of the tools in MiniXP can be reached using this simple method as some of the tools in MiniXP must be collected from folder HBCD which MiniXP cannot reach as you do not have folder HBCD on the root of EasyBoot (the root of EasyBoot is folder disk1 if you wonder). Note: you can use DOS-tools as well but parted magic cannot be used as the "root" (folder HBCD) is missing once again. Attention! This method can only be used from the latest release of EasyBoot (version-6). However, if using older version of EasyBoot you can simply use my script "easyboot-iso.script" to integrate Hiren-ISO-file. The benefit with "easyboot-iso.script" is: it doesn't matter what version of EasyBoot you are using when integrating ISO-file (Hiren ISO-file included) and another major benefit is that script can launch WinPE built from WinXP-source (or any NT5-system). Script use "firadisk" to launch WinPE based on NT5-system. Please also read post nr; 9 < HERE > ------------------------------------------- To sum up: Reason to this discussion is; why use menu command in Easyboot that only are able to launch MiniXP (if run from USB) when you with another recommended menu command can use the whole Hiren's software Why change a to 100% working method and use an "old" method that doesn't fully out work for the rest of Hiren's software - I don't get the point - or have I missed something ![]() Don't misunderstand me @Leodemon as every step (or method) that can make things easier is highly welcome ![]() I still don't understand what method you used to make USB device bootable ![]() Did you simply copy folder HBCD to USB device or how and what method did you use as you clearly did not use my scripts in any way - or have I totally misunderstood what you did (you for sure is a little bit cryptic here)? Please enlighten me balder Posted by Leodemon on Aug. 29 2011,17:50
@balderDear as i told you earlier that i have done all this using grub so long ago but the only thing made me disapoint was the black n white looks of grub , in ezboot we can have colour full back ground and colour full menu too so i decide to extract only mini xp from hiren not whole folder of HBCD i again clerify i dont like whole hirens disk but only Mini xp so i extracted it this way which madar described in his post (totaly credit to madar ![]() 1.Open hiren9,9 ISO by ultraiso, then delete all files insid HBCD except files below: isolinux.bin isolinux.cfg keyboard.bat menu.c32 uharc.exe uharcd.exe (if this file is not exist in ur version dont worry) XP XP.BIN XP.DAT XP.CA_ XPLOADER.BIN 2.Extract XP.CA_ from ISO some where then extract cab file you will have XP.img. put it in HBCD folder of ISO and delete XP.CA_ (for this you can also use 7zip to extract xp.img) 3.Open file "XP" insid folder HBCD by notepad and change that as below: [SetupData] BootDevice="ramdisk(0)" BootPath="\i386\System32\" OsLoadOptions="/fastdetect /minint /rdexportashd /rdpath=\HBCD\XP.img" 4.Open isolinux.cfg by notepad and change that as below: default /HBCD/menu.c32 prompt 0 timeout 010 menu title MCS Mini XP menu color border 0 #ffffffff #00000000 menu color sel 7 #ffffffff #ff000000 menu color title 0 #ffffffff #00000000 menu color unsel 0 #ffffffff #00000000 menu color disabled 0 #ffffffff #00000000 menu color timeout_msg 0 #ffffffff #00000000 menu color timeout 0 #ffffffff #00000000 menu tabmsg menu timeoutrow 10 menu margin 0 menu indent 5 menu rows 5 label xp menu label Start Mini Windows Xp kernel /HBCD/XP.BIN Save your ISO.Now you have hirenbootCD but just with mini XP on it. ===================================================================== C.If you want to run the iso made above by EasyBoot do as below: 1. copy contents of iso to ...\EasyBoot\disk1 2. Use command below in EasyBoot: bcdw /hbcd/isolinux.bin (did not worked for me ![]() or bootinfotable;run /hbcd/isolinux.bin (This worked for me like magic ) ====================================================================== thats all ok now next soloution for utilities hiren put for his mini xp i did all required utilities i extracted in seprate windows from \hbcd\wintools\files\ folder and put them in a folder called wintools in root of my usb so now after loading the mini xp i have option to run my fav utilities from there the process how did i made my usb bootable was i formated it using fat32 (0c) thorough Partition Wizard Home Edition ( which i also included in ezboot because of its my all time fav partitioning tool) and made it active then re-insert the disk and copied the MBR using bootice utility very usefull hand utility to install all boot sect incl dos/NT5/Nt6/Grub/Plop/Ultraiso you name it then only thing was required to copy grldr in the root and creat a menu.lst here is my menu.lst entry timeout 3 title Launch EasyBoot find --set-root --ignore-floppies /easyboot/iso.iso map /easyboot/iso.iso (hd32) map --hook chainloader (hd32) boot so now first grub boot and due to 3 sec time out it automaticaly load ezboot menu so no black n white interface all colourfull and mini xp also work fine indeed even though we have 256 Mb ram (the best part) its all because i did not used whole hbcd folder but only required files of mini xp now i can run any util like ghost with high speed data transfer and use patition wizard for any partitioning without system reboot (best part) xp based utils can be copied in any normal folder in usb and can be run from there like i used to run opera mini, ghost32, hwinfo , hdtune, gdb , etc etc networking support also works fine and best part is all with colourfull interface. running dost based floppy images are piece of cake in ezboot so i made as many entries as i can however linux based partition wizard home edition 37 MB on iso , was a bit tricky to put in ezboot but i got success in it too reading this forum (all credit goes to Ezboot forum) now i m curious how to edit xp.img as 7zip says function not supported when i try to ammend files in xp.img nor ultraiso helped in this regard. let me tell you the reason why i want to edit xp.img because i want to put some of my files on desktop of mini xp so atleast in case of virus my files will be save under the hood of xp.img ;) you know except grldr i have everthing in packed form iso or img so no virus tension when i will be able to put my required utils on desktop and pack xp.img again (hope it wont give me cheksum error again .. hahaha thanks for your support balder i realy apreciate your work you did for ur script but i dont with to use scripts instead i did it my own way which works for me on almost every pc as long minixp have updated mass storage driver in it which support most of the sata and scsi and almost every IDE too Posted by balder on Aug. 30 2011,00:57
@LeodemonQuote: "but just with mini XP on it" Okay that is a huge difference comparing to use Hiren BOOT-CD ![]() It would be nice if you already in post nr; 14 have cleared this out - quote: "i dont like whole hirens disk but only Mini xp so i extracted it this way which madar described" And I do agree that my friend @madar is an excellent tutorial writer. Your only goal was to collect MiniXP from Hiren ![]() Quote: "Open hiren9,9 ISO by ultraiso" Okay you use an "old" Hiren (hiren9,9 ) Take attention to that Hiren_v14.1 is fundamentally changed in several ways. I have my doubt you can use this tutorial to Hiren_v14.1 Problem as I saw it, was that if other users read post nr; 14 and connect this with "is it that easy to launch Hiren BOOT-CD" from USB - only to find them disappointed, as only some parts of Hiren BOOT-CD is working correctly! And on the top of this disappointment also find out that MiniXP doesn't works fully out as well ![]() However @madar tutorial in post nr; 18 is excellent for those that are NOT skilled (or interested) to create there own MiniXP Quote: "mini xp also work fine indeed even though we have 256 Mb ram (the best part)" Sure, and the same if you use the brief tutorial in post nr; 2 (run from USB) Folder HBCD is NOT loaded to RAM - folder is copied to the root of USB - and Hiren ISO-file is NOT used at all, and that's it! Quote: "minixp have updated mass storage driver in it which support most of the sata and scsi and almost every IDE too" Sure I do agree that "Hiren" have created an excellent MiniXP, and I guess that's the reason to this big interest in Hiren MiniXP However I have already 100% driver support in my own MiniXP created in winbuilder - but the choice is always the user; create own MiniXP or collect an MiniXP from somewhere else (Hiren or whatever) Note1: I have to admit that I have some "lazy" fragments in my personality ![]() Note2: Unfortunately I'm so lazy that I do not want to use several different programs to make USB bootable - I'm so lazy that I push one button and even doesn't need to choose which USB letter to be the target as script support USB devices with several partitions (its done fully automatically by script in a couple of seconds to find USB device and locate the first partition as target). Gladly @madar has been an great help during beta-test of scripts (test boot-function to a lot of different motherboards etcetera) However, it is for sure nothing wrong doing things partly manually as you do - I guess it's a question about convenience (or being lazy or similar - like me ![]() Finally: Quote: "Open hiren9,9 ISO by ultraiso" Okay you use an "old" Hiren (hiren9,9 ) Take attention to that Hiren_v14.1 is fundamentally changed in several ways. I have my doubt you can use this tutorial to Hiren_v14.1 If you have Easyboot-version6 installed you can simply use (or at least test) menu command in Easyboot: run iso.iso (your reduced MiniXP-ISO) - or use my script "easyboot-iso.script" to integrate your minixp.iso! If you have done that from beginning, you wouldn't been quote: "wrangling with hiren/ezboot since 2 days" as it would worked at once. regards balder Posted by Leodemon on Aug. 30 2011,15:51
@balderi extracted mini xp from hiren 10.3 though i have also used hiren 14 too from usb but the thing i dont like about hiren 14 its size is noticably increased and except wireless networking rest of the windows almost same any way can you help me which software to use for editing xp.img file as i told you that 7zip and utra iso booth was failed to open it up however 7zip only allow to extract but do not support to ammend. thanks Posted by balder on Aug. 30 2011,16:05

@balder hmmm so no soloution to ammend large img file yet so how they make it ? so why dont we make another our very own img files including all of our required files or lets say hirens customized disk ![]() Posted by balder on Sep. 02 2011,10:16
@Leodemonquote: "so why dont we make another our very own img files including all of our required files or lets say hirens customized disk any idea ?" Good idea ![]() Basically Hiren Minixp can be built using WinBuilder (same WinBuilder I use as "script-engine" to control scripts). You can include (and exclude) applications in a very personalized way. And of course, integrate\update drives continually as new motherboards are developed. If not already acquainted with WinBuilder read (and be a member) < HERE > Note: I'm in a deep progress to solve the "Hiren-case" ![]() I didn't fully out understood the big interest for Hiren BOOT-CD until now ![]() As a result of this interest to Hiren, I'm designing a new script that do following: The goal is ... 1. Integrate the whole Hiren and automatically give user the right EasyBoot menu command to launch the whole Hiren optionally run from both CD\DVD as from USB 2. Checkbox - if checked - only integrate Hiren MiniXP and skip everything else and give user the right EasyBoot menu command to launch the whole Hiren optionally run from both CD\DVD as from USB. 3. Option to create ISO-file of MiniXP to launch in EasyBoot or skip ISO-file and instead run MiniXP from reduced HBCD-folder (takes a few MB less in space) and still give user the right EasyBoot menu command to launch MiniXP optionally run from CD\DVD as from USB to both options. The MiniXP-ISO-file is approximately 80 MB or less in size and seems to work okay. Note1: script is in beta-stage and need testers - please help me test script. Note2: The network might be an problem to solve fully out - but I'm having problem with the original Hiren_v14-ISO-file regarding Internet as well. Note3: I haven't finished this work, as it is a h**'l lot of work - typically "test-and-trial-efforts" it takes a lot of time and efforts to full-fill The goal is that users shouldn't need to extract files and folders to the "root" (folder disk1) manually, to make the whole MiniXP work correctly ![]() Second important goal is to avoid the need to check the annoying ![]() In a few days - perhaps to morrow late afternoon or whatever - you might find new download of script-collection (notice date of update in my posts)! regards balder Posted by josefo on Sep. 06 2011,19:03
You are a certifiable GENIUS balder.Your script to integrate Hirens 14 (I'm using v14.1) worked like a charm. Had no problem whatsoever creating and finishing my multiboot DVD, with Windows 7 Ultimate Lite (esp), Windows XP Pro SP3 Lite (esp), Puppy Linux (Live CD and Install from the same, newest version), and finally Hirens Boot CD v14.1. Maybe we should crown you EASYBOOT MAD GENIUS? ![]() Keep up the great work. I am still learning how to use EASYBOOT and with your help and the help from "The Missing Manual." Hi, I'm new here ;). I already made my own multiboot iso - win xp, win7, acronis, ubuntu, backtrack, slax, kaspersky and.... Hirens 14.1. I try almost all advices from this thread but nothing work ;/. If I don't check "allow lowercase" in easyboot then Hirens didn't work and if I check "allow lowercase" in easyboot Hirens ran ok but when I was choosing Win 7 installer then Win xp Installer appeard. I must do something to run Hirens without "allow lowercase" but i don't know what... I also tried Balder's scripts (easyboot-iso and script to integrate Hirens 14.*) LOG here: < log > Please help me... I spent a lot of time on it and i really need Hirens on my multiboot iso to fully happiness ;)

@arasso12As a new member to EasyBoot forum I'll say welcome @arasso12 ![]() Quote: "I also tried Balder's scripts (easyboot-iso and script to integrate Hirens 14.*)" You missed that script cannot operate with spaces to file-names (including spaces to folder-names) ![]() You clearly have spaces in: " D:\aaaa firefox download\Hirens.BootCD.14.1\Hiren's.BootCD.14.1.iso" As you can notice spaces in folder name "D:\aaaa firefox download" In fact two spaces making it even worse ![]() Simply move Hiren's.BootCD.14.1.iso to a folder that DO NOT have spaces in name - typically "MyIsoFiles" or "My_Iso_Files" (or whatever) Run script again You can now launch Hiren in EasyBoot without checking "Allow Lower Case" which we "deadly" try to avoid having checked ![]() However I recommend you to download updated script-collection (some minor bugs stopping script in some rare occasions) ![]() Anyway thank you for the log-file - its always helpful regards balder Posted by arasso12 on Oct. 24 2011,13:16

@arasso12I think you have a point there ![]() I'm currently running scripts on my 64-bit computer ![]() Are you using 32-bit-processor on your motherboard ![]() regards balder Posted by arasso12 on Oct. 24 2011,14:00
I have 32-bit system but my processor is 32/64bit Athlon II x2 245...

@arasso12Reason that script halts is that this 7z-command didn't work ![]() x C:\Hiren's.BootCD.14.1.iso -oE:\EasyBoot\disk1\minixp As no folder "hbcd" can be found in folder "EasyBoot\disk1\minixp" script failed to move directory "hbcd" to "EasyBoot\disk1" Are you running Windows-7 ![]() If this is the case, you must set UAC (User-Account-Control) to lowest level as Windows-7 prohibit script to use 7z-program (command tool version of 7zip) ![]() Same problem to Vista - set UAC to lowest level ![]() EDIT: Note: 7z-zip is already in folder "Tools" when you download "balder.zip" regards balder Posted by arasso12 on Oct. 24 2011,14:50
Ok now all is ok(with Your script), but if I type this command to easyboot menu run /HBCD/isolinux.cfg, create iso and run VMware it is not working. I simply pushed enter and nothing happend... Just like it was blank menu item - sorry for my english(I'm from Poland ;p).

@arasso12Did you set UAC to lowest level to solve problem with script? There might still be a problem with 7zip.exe This exe-file is a 64-bit.exe and may not run properly inside 32-bit system. I have to take a look into this ![]() Anyway test this: Open folder Easyboot\resources and copy file syslinux and file isolinux to folder ezboot (overwriting existing files) Create ISO and use same menu command ![]() regards balder Posted by arasso12 on Oct. 24 2011,15:25
Hmm in my ezboot folder wasn't syslinux and isolinux... I pasted those files there - Hirens is booting but when i try to run dos program it stop (find --set-root %pm% bla bla). I think there is problem with 7zip, i'll try to fix it ;]

@arasso12What version of EasyBoot are you running ![]() Attention! This script "easyboot-hiren_v14*" mainly support EasyBoot_v6.5 and not earlier versions. Further more - there must be files syslinux and isolinux in folder ezboot. This is the fact since at least 6 years back ![]() Please reinstall your Easyboot (overwriting existing files in folder ezboot or install new Easyboot on the "root" (C:\) an test that version. But how did you pass 7zip did you only set UAC to lowest level or what did you do to pass that problem? regards balder Posted by arasso12 on Oct. 24 2011,15:44
I set UAC to lowest level & replace 7zip in folder Tools. Ok I reinstall easyboot and try again:)Please see this screenshot < ss > This is ezboot folder after clear reinstall of eazyboot downloaded from official website < download > I'm confused... Posted by balder on Oct. 24 2011,16:03
@arasso12No it's okay with your install - I have some "old" files left in my folder ![]() Anyway... I have fixed the problem with 7zip I simply integrated 32-bit version of 7zip command line tool. Scripts that uses 7zip can from now run on both 32-bit as 64-bit systems ![]() Thanks for finding this little "bug" in the "tool-box" @arasso12 ![]() Again I must point to that scripts mainly support EasyBoot_v6.5 and coming updates of EasyBoot and not older versions of EasyBoot. But you are already using version 6.5 of Easyboot so it is okay ![]() Note: you don't need to copy files syslinux and isolinux to folder ezboot, if using script "easyboot-hiren_v14*" - script automatically injects updated files syslinux and isolinux into folder ezboot. I have uploaded updated scripts for a couple of minutes ago - please do a new download (replace folder "balder" with updated script-collection). And hey... Nothing wrong with your English - works great ![]() regards balder Posted by arasso12 on Oct. 24 2011,16:27
Ok, now bug with 7zip fixed but Hirens isn't working... all boot up fine but when i choose np dos programs->backup->clonezilla i have error "Booting Parted magic find --set-root %pm% bla bla" I give You a lot of trouble here, sorry but thanks for Your help ;) Posted by balder on Oct. 24 2011,16:48
@arasso12You get this problem when launching clonezilla - instead Parted Magiq tries to launch ![]() If you choose >> Dos Programs>>Backup Tools>>Ghost 4 Linux (G4L) - Parted Magiq is trying to start but cannot work correctly. As told... This is a bug in Hiren and not in EasyBoot Test Hiren.iso in your "virtual environment" and you shall se that it is Parted Magiq that launches. This is a bug in Hiren ![]() Difference is that Easyboot is a little bit slower which means Parted Magiq even can't find its boot-folder. But again - this is not any problem with Easyboot - it is a bug in Hiren ![]() Basically your build is working correctly - problem seems solved ![]() And I thank you again for pointing me to the "64-bit-case-problem" with 7zip that now is fixed - thank you ![]() regards balder Posted by arasso12 on Oct. 25 2011,01:37
Ok, thanks for Your help ;)edit "Test Hiren.iso in your "virtual environment" and you shall se that it is Parted Magiq that launches." - You're right, parted magiq lunched well... Can someone give me link to Hirens 14.0? I hope 14.0 will work correctly with easyboot ;) EDIT My bad... i have 2 copy of easyboot on C:\ and E:\... I ran hirens integrate script to C:\easyboot.... but when I lunched easyboot from C:\ there was path to E:\EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot. So now all is working! Thanks ;) I'm so tired... I changed iso in WMware to hirens iso to try and didn't change it back to iso what i created in easyboot - still the same problem with hirens 13.2 & 14.1 ;/. Is there any other way to fix this? I must have hirens and win7 installer but now i must choose between ;/ |
