Forum: UltraISO Topic: CD Extra NRG to Mac conversion started by: BrunoPGomes Posted by BrunoPGomes on Oct. 02 2006,18:34
Any suggestions for what appears to be an interesting challenge: I have the task of compiling a set of lectures every week into a set of CDs, and then posting the images on the net for ftp downloads by students (who forgot to turn up). These lectures can include additional lecture notes (word docs) and illustrations (jpegs). So I used Nero7 to create CD Extra NRG files. Now these burn from images and play very nicely, so that those with just audio cd players hear the lectures, those with computers get the additional content. Its all very fine until I hit the Mac community. I've bought UltraISO to convert the CD Extra NRG file into a BIN/CUE combo and to get Mac users to burn a CD from that. Just get loads of errors. Suggestions? Dont ask me to recompose the packs into audio cds with accompanying cd roms- I'm trying to get past 1996 here! ![]() Posted by xoben on Oct. 02 2006,22:39
As CD Extra's have multi-sessions, most CD burning programs do not support this kind of BIN/CUE images.Suggestions: 1) Use a burning program supporting NRG, MDS or CCD format 2) Making Mixed-mode CDs instead of CD-Extra's Posted by BrunoPGomes on Oct. 06 2006,06:56
Too right Xoben. I've deliberately used CD Extra because of the problem with the first track on mixed mode cds. Elsewhere its suggested that Firestarter is the program to use on Macs, but it really is ropey. If I write MDS or CCD format, is there a freeware program out there which will work on OS-X and write a CD-Extra disc safely?
