Forum: UltraISO Topic: Thanks for the open ISZ format. started by: idunder Posted by idunder on Jun. 06 2007,13:09
I just wanted to say thanks for creatiing and making open the ISZ format. Now daemon tools supports it, and Daemon script. (The tool that allows you to create scripts for individual apps to autolauch certain mounting of images then executing the app after it mounts) -- Great for kids computer, while storing all your ISO's on a backend server. This is not a message to Spam Daemon tools or daemon script. Unfortualty the ONLY virtual drive apps that daemon script supports is Daemon tools and Alchohol. Now that I see that Daemon tools has taken up and added full support for the ISZ image format I am thinking I will soon be purchasing ultraiso. (After I take it for another spin and see how well my kids isos compress and how it works with the above tools) I know there are some that see NO advantage to having compressed ISO's but there are many of us that use Linux back end servers with NO filesystem level compression that keep ALL of our CD's in ISO form on the network, having the ability to compress those ISO's and get another possible 30+ % more ISO's on the drive really helps. Thanks for all of your work, and making it an open standard. While other products make their closed standards, if any are going to become the defacto standard, my guess is it will be ISZ first. (From what I understand there is no accounting for CRC's etc but for normal ISO compression it could be the main one supported.. and at this point it looks like it is.)
