I just bought UltraISO creator

I’m trying to convert Symantec ghost 2 boot floopies into a  bootable cd. They work great booting from floopy.

I downloaded easy cd creator. Did the tools=>make floopy image of  bootfloopy. (if this correct it is a missing step in the attached link)
Then used that image to “create new image”=>set the image size to 2880 and created the 2880 sized image.

Referenced this link

Then started UltraISO, in the “local file list section” browsed to the 2880 bootimage location. Then clicked on the image file and then clicked on the Set Boot Icon“local file list section”. That changed the image type to Boobable CD. I then copied in my files from my two boot floopies into the image portion of the program.

Then did Bootable=>Save Boot File

And  Bootable=>Clear Boot information

Then File=>save as and saved as ISO

Then burned my cd

When I insert the CD into a pc and boot it ignores the CD. It never attempts to boot from floopy and continues on.

I have successfully made another bootCD with UltraISO and booted the pc with it but not able to do the Ghost floopies.

Thanks,

Greg.

I guess you could call this progress.

I’ve followed the same steps above except that I’m not clicking the icon on in the local section. I’m hitting the load bootfile under menu Bootable=> Load boot file. As from this link.

Now when I try to boot from cd I get boot disk failure.

The floppies are using PC-Dos.

It is recommanded to do it this way:
1) Start UltraISO
2) Choose 'File'->'New'->'Bootable CD/DVD Image' from main menu, select the floppy image and click 'Open'
3) Save to an ISO image
4) Burn to a recordable CD

Thanks for replying xoben,

I did the “file=>new=>bootable cd/DVD image” and opened the 2880 sized floppy image.

Saved to an ISO image and burned.

I still get the Boot disk failure.

I also tried “file=>new=>bootable cd/DVD image” and opened the 2880 floppy image.

Then added the files that should be on the two floopies  saved as ISO image, burned cd.

Still got the boot disk failure.

If you have two floppies, please read a related topic at < http://forum.ezbsystems.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=2;t=1240 > .

Utterly confused at this point after following the links which are links to links that sometimes link back to the original link. :D

Here is the gist of what I attempted.

Using easy boot created a seed using "Make floopy image". Is this right?

Then used easy boot and “create new image” used the image I made in the step above to created an 8640 sized  image.

Downloaded ezboot, extracted to c:\

Copied my 8640 IMG file to c:\ezboot, renamed it as bootdisk.img

Started UltraISO, choose 'New'->'Bootable CD/DVD image and  specified c:\ezboot\loader.bin as the boot  file.

Added the folder c:\ezboot to the image area

Saved to an ISO and burned

When I booted from Disk I got the "boot disk failure."

So I went back to “original image" from the “Make floopy image” sorted by LBA. Extracted the first 3 files  “config.sys autoexec.bat mouse.com” and inserted them into the “large empty image” hope that was supposed to be the bootdisk.img I created in ezboot, because that is what I used, then saved that image.

Then repeated the steps to create the ISO image.

And booted from cd

Got “ Boot Disk failure” :(

Hello GNHelton, could you provide step by step inetructions about how did you create the 2.88MB floppy image?

I don't use ultraiso, i use winimage. But it might be very similar. I create the two ghost floppys, then create a image file using the first disk. I then tell winimage to change the format to be 2.88mb. I then inject the ghost.exe to the ghost folder on the image. I use nero to create the boot disk using the image. I enable the expert setting and change the "kind of emulation".

I will check online for a trial of ultraiso, it might be useful on other projects.

I hope this helps.
