Forum: UltraISO Topic: How to clone the original VISTA 64 DVD started by: cwest Posted by cwest on Sep. 14 2008,21:40
I want to make a copy of a Vista 64 DVD that came with my laptop. I also licensed UltraISO. I made an iso (saving it to my HDD). I then burned it to a DVD. When I reboot the laptop with the HDD choice disabled (from the BIOS), the DVD starts and spins forever, but the VISTA installation doesn’t start. What did I miss in the process. (fwiw, I've lost OS DVDs in the past and MS wasn't helpful—had to buy a new license). Appreciate some help. Thank you.

The procedure is OK. My suggestion is: 1) Emulate the ISO image by VMWare, and see if it is bootable -or- 2) Try another computer for the burned DVD Posted by cwest on Sep. 15 2008,19:13
I didn't like your response ![]() I installed ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com), followed the same procedure outlined in my post, and the DVD I wrote automatically loads and runs the VISTA installation. I suspect there's something UltraISO has overlooked with original Vista 64 DVDs. I tried it a few times, but no luck. Please credit my purchase, which was made Sept 13, and we shall remain friends. |
