I have a large quantity of video files (mpg, avi, etc.) and I have been burning them into dvd video discs using Nero 7 Ultra.  The problem is, when I put a file into the que for the disc menu, it becomes MUCH larger than it really is on the hard drive.  This gets irritating, because I can't put many files on my dvds.

So, here is the question.  Using UltraIso (because I love this program), is there a way that I can create an .iso file that will play as a video dvd?  Example of what I mean:
Lets say that you take a dvd that you own and wish to make a back-up copy.  You put that dvd into your dvd drive and open DVD Decrypter.  Using DVD Decrypter, you make an exact copy of the dvd file in .iso format, which usually ends up being around 8gb.  Then, you take that .iso file, open it using DVD Shrink and press "Back-up", which shrinks the file into a 4.36gb .iso and burns the exact .iso copy onto the recordable dvd.  This disc then plays in the dvd player as if it were the original, purchased dvd.

I would like to create a dvd like the one that comes from performing the above process, but with a dvd that I author myself, keeping the files that I put into the .iso to maintain their same size as if they were on the hard drive.  Then, I would like this dvd to play in my dvd player as if it were any normal dvd.

Can I do this?  If so, is there a specific format that the video files have to be in, like .avi or .mpeg?  Also, just to clarify, the format does not necessarily have to be an .iso, that is just the dvd image file type that I know.  Also, I hope that UltraIso can do this, but if it can't, is there another program that will?

I am sorry for the length of this message, but I would truely appreciate some help.  Thank you for reading, and I look forward to your response.  If you are unclear of anything that I have written, please ask me to clarify.

Thank you,

My suggestion is using DVD-video authoring programs such as products from Pinnacle, Sonic and Ulead.
