I have an iso image of some graphics programs and I want to add a folder with software updates to it. I opened the iso and dragged the folder with the updates into it. After saving to a new iso it seems to work ok in daemontools. But when the iso is burned with nero and the cd is loaded, all the files in the update folder are corrupt. If I try to run the update exe's an error pops up that "the file has been truncated" or something. Everything else seems fine, only the added files have problems.

I tried doing the same thing but this time saved it as an alcohol image, and it seemed to work properly. Is there something I have to set for iso images or could this be a bug?

Well this is strange. Both Nero and Blindwrite created a cd with the added files coming out corrupt. But Imgburn seemed to create a proper image.

Anyone know more about this? Is there a bug drag-and-dropping files into ultraiso, that causes problems with other burning apps? I've never had a problem burning iso's with any of the above programs. The original iso burns fine. It's only the one's I add files to in Ultraiso that cause problems.

And the checksum log:

CODE
# MD5 checksums generated by UltraISO (http://www.ezbsystems.com)

# Generated 2006-12-21 18:44:10

Filter: Failed ('>' - Passed, 'X' - Failed, '!' - Not found)

X 85378c5423df5b8175ba0d778550a401 *Updates\ps902.exe

That error is from a Blindwrite burned image. So is there something "non-standard" about ultraiso's images?

Please do it this way:
1) Open the old ISO, add files and folders to this image
2) Choose 'File'->'Create checksums' to get a MD5 file
3) "Save As" a new ISO
4) Mount the ISO to Deamon-Tools, and choose 'Tools'->'Verify CD/DVD checksums' to verify the contents on virtual disc
5) If step 4 works, then burn it by one of your burning program, and verify again

Yes I tried that. The image works fine in daemon-tools and the checksums are all good. It's only when the image is burned to a disc with most programs that something goes wrong.

I think Nero used to have problems with iso images but thought that was all worked out many versions ago.

I will try a disc copy from the iso mounted in Daemon tools, burn that and see what happens. If it works then there is something strange about the iso images created by Ultraiso, as far as the mentioned burning apps are concerned.

Well it didn't work. I did a disc copy from the virtual drive, using Blindwrite, and when the resulting image was burned the problems are there again. And yet it worked fine in Daemon tools. I don't get how this can happen, then again I have no knowledge of iso images.

Just did another burn of the image saved by Ultraiso, using Imgburn, and the resulting cd md5's are fine.

So from all this I have no idea. Both Nero and Blindwrite can't burn Ultraiso's output properly. Imgburn does without problems, and Daemon-tools seems to have no problem mounting them either. And yet creating an image of the iso mounted in Daemontools give a corrupt image again.

Isobuster gives the following error after scanning the burned cd:

Wish I could edit my posts  :(

Just letting u know that saving to either Nero or Alcohol images works fine. It's only when saving as iso that the problem occurs.

Is anyone interested in confirming this?

Hi Janger,

Just registered to let you know im having the same issue. I've recently been adding updates and patches to existing ISO files using UltraISO (which i've used for several years now, and is an excellent piece of kit). Mounting the images in Dameon tools works perfoectly, however upon burning via both Nero and Blindwrite, the newly added files give a series of errors when trying to execute or copy them (from "Not a Valid Win32 Application", "Incorrect Parameter" etc). Strangely, it seems only the new content is that having the issue (all the files that existed on the original ISO before editing still function perfectly well).

I hope you've found a solution ot this issue, and if you had, coudl you be so kind as to pass it on to me.

Cheers
