UltraISO 8.6.5 build 2140 including "update 1" version:

Enabling the "Verify" option during burning on-the-fly with UltraBurn completely kills performance - the write rate falls to approx 200 kilobytes per second (measured with Process Explorer) which means that it would take hours to burn a DVD!

With Verify disabled, this problem goes away.

I was using an external DVD writer (Optiarc AD-5170S) connected by USB and selecting a 16x burn-speed when I discovered this. I confirmed the problem by doing it three times all resulting in the same problem.

Using the Verify option when burning an ISO image to CD-R or DVD-R doesn't seem to have any impact, but I don't think any actual verification is taking place.

When 'Verify' is enabled, your DVD recorder will write the data transferred from your computer to the medium and then verify that the data is correctly written.

The performance is determined by the recorder itself, the only thing that UltraISO did is turning this feature on or off.

Sorry for this problem, it is confirmed that Update#1 does not turn on 'Verify' for ISO images . Please re-download UltraISO from http://www.ezbsystems.com/dl.php?file=uiso8_pe.exe and try it again.

I can confirm this.  Using "Verify" it seems as if "on-the-fly" isn't even working at all.  The light on the burner stops flashing.  When I tried to shut down, I received an error message that the DVD burner was in a very long burn.  This problem occurred on a new Samsung 20x internal PATA burner.  Burning ISO images created with UltraISO with Imgburn work fine with "verify" turned on.  In my opinion, "Verify" should not actually happen until after the burn is completed.  I wonder if UltraISO is verifying as it burns.  This would explain why the extremely slow burn rate.  Since I was unsure of what the problem might be, I uninstalled and went back to the previous version.  Hopefully this problem will be fixed shortly.  This problem on occurs with "on-the-fly" burning only.

Test result of 'Verify' option for on-the-fly burning on different DVD writers:

LG GSA-H20L 1.01, no notable performance lose
Pioneer DVR-111XL 1.02, no notable performance lose as well
NEC ND-4570A 1.02, very slow

So, the performance is depended on the device you are using.
