*I posted this also in the EasyBoot forum but realized this may be more of an UltraISO problem, so sorry for the duplication.
I recently recieved the Ghost Solutions Suite 1.1 upgrade from Symantec. The new Ghost Boot Wizard in Ghost 8.3 features new options to create a Ghost Boot ISO file with a universal packet driver, and I am happyt to report it works great! (as long as the machine suppots network PXE boot).
Now I want to move this CD to my Easy Boot disk, but am running into problems. The CD contains two files, a BOOTCAT.BIN, and an OSBOOT.IMG. Using UltraISO, I extracted these files to the EasyBoot folder, then proceeded to save the Boot Information File.
It took almost 4 minutes, and what I was left with was a 1.96BG ghostcd.bif file. Obviously something has gone wrong since the whole ISO file was only 25MB.
Any helpful hints would be appreciated!
-Matt

Thank EvilBetty for your sample images.
The bug with UltraISO has been fixed now, please re-download UltraISO from http://www.ezbsystems.com/dl.php?file=uiso7_me.exe .
PS: The boot image file of both GhostCD.ISO and delldiag1265.iso are HardDisk Image, EasyBoot does not support them directly.

Thanks for you fast attention!
You state that UltraIso will not support this type of BIF directly. Is there some other method I can use to add these ISO files to an EasyBoot disk?
Thanks!

Thanks again, that is definately a step closer for me in the right direction. Â Following your instructions I used the BIF files instead of the ISO files.
This method works great in my VMWare / Virtual PC session. Â Both Dell 32 Bit Diagnostics and the Ghost Boot CD, boot correctly.
Unfortunately the CD's did not work on any PC I have in house (12 Dell models from GX-110's through GX-620's desktops, and laptops from C600 - D610). Â None of them will boot the ISOLINUX sessions, but freeze at a different points. Â Some freeze at a black screen. Â Others freeze imediately after the ISOLINUX version is shown with some "DL" code.
Code Sample | ISOLINUX 2.11 08/18/2004 Copyright (C) 1994-2004 H. Peter Anvin isolinux: Starting up, DL = 82 |
Google resulted in the following thread that made me susspect the ISOLINUX version. http://www.911cd.net/forums....c=10612
But after updating your process using the new ISOLINUX.CSM and the new MEMDISK module, it still freeses with either a blank screen or a new message of:
Code Sample | ISOLINUX 3.07 03/01/2005 |
Google resulted in the following thread(s) when looking for other persons have this problem. http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=15481
I am at a loss... Not really sure how to proceed at this point.
Any further advise you, or any other helpful party may have would be greatly apprecated!
Thanks!

Hello EvilBetty, ISOLINUX works on our Dell Latitude D610 and Dell GX280 computers.
Please check your PM for a bootable ISO we tested with.

Thanks again for your ultra-fast responses!
First off I have to apologize. I took a short cut and assumed since my testing had failed on all of the systems I had tried that it was not going to work on any of them. In addition to that it seems I may have used an older version of my ISO for some of my testing that was using the old problematic BIF files.
After retesting every system with both of our ISO files using the BIF method, here is what I found out. Your ISO and my ISO both work with the following systems:
C600 C610 D610 D600 GX-280 GX-270 GX-260
Your ISO and my ISO both fail with the following systems.
GX-150 - Blank Screen SX-270 - EL = 82 SX-280 - EL = 82 GX-620 - EL = 82
BUT, your IMG version seems to be working on all of the systems. So instead of trying to figure out why that is not working...
I understand you created this IMG using the tools in Easy Boot. I had tried this once before but ran into problems making IMG files not in standard sizes with these and WinImage.
Can you provide me with a quick "how to" to create this. I would like to try this method with the Dell 32 bit diagnostics as well. I am assuming then I would just run the IMG file from EasyBoot with a "run ghost83.img" menu command?

Thank you EvilBetty for your nice feedback.
Here is step by step instructions for making an IMG file: Step 1: Extract BIF file and it's content 1) Open the ISO image by UltraISO, choose 'Bootable'->'Save boot file' to get a BIF file, named as ghost83.BIF 2) Open ghost83.bif by UltraISO, extract all files and folders to a folder, for example c:\ghost83 Step 2: Create a large IMG file 3) Re-download EasyBoot from http://www.ezbsystems.com/dl.php?file=ezb5_en.exe , which works with BIF files now 4) Setup and start EasyBoot, click 'Tools' button and choose 'Create New Floppy Image...' item. 5) On the dialogue, specify ghost83.bif as 'seed image', choose '23040' as 'image size(kb)' and output filename as ghost83.img, then click 'Create' Step 3: Add files to IMG file 6) Open ghost83.img by UltraISO, add all files and folders in c:\ghost83 to the image area and save Step 4: Load IMG by EasyBoot menu 7) Use 'run ghost83.img' to load
PS: Difference for Dell 32 Bit Diagnostics: 5) On the dialogue, specify ghost83.bif(not the BIF extracted from delldiag1265.ISO) as 'seed image', choose '5760' as 'image size(kb)' and output filename as delldiag.img, then click 'Create' 6) Open delldiag.img by UltraISO, add three files in c:\ghost83 folder first, they are io.sys, msdos.sys, command.com, then add all files and folders in c:\delldiag to the image area, Choose 'No' when asking to overwrite files existed and save

Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!
This worked great for both ISO's!
I appreciate all of your work on this, my only problem now is getting all of these great ISO's to fit on one CD!
