In fact, space for error correction of mode2 and mode1 are exactly the same. So this is not a reason for using mode2.

Mode2 or Mode1 is used for burning an ISO image to a CD-R/RW disc (not DVDs). ISO images have no mode1/mode2 attribute, but BIN images have one of them.
Maybe I was confused about Mode 2-XA or something. Because VCDs use some form of Mode 2 with reduced error correction.
If the Mode attribute is not part of an ISO image, then there is no problem.
