Version: UltraISO 7.5.1.956 System: Windows XP Pro SP1 (unpatched)
The beginning of this year I extracted Roxio Easy CD Creator Basic 6.1.1.48 Audio Disc Image CIF to WAV files. I confirmed the readability of these files.
This past week, I opted to burn discs of the material I extracted. Upon playing I noticed a "click" at the start of each track. Using Sound Forge I discovered a "click" precisely at 0.002 seconds of each track. I attempted to burn other ways. The same problem occurred. I compared to the extracted WAV files and failed to find a "click". I then uninstalled and flushed the registry of Easy CD Creator and reinstalled. The same issue occurred.
I transferred the extracted WAV files to another computer with Easy CD Creator, and the same problem occurred, a "click" at precisely 0.002 seconds of each track.
I then used Exact Audio Copy 0.95 Prebeta 5 and Nero 6.6, oddly the same problem. The extracted WAV files showed no "click" while the burned discs from all the disc creation programs did.
I then tested some recently downloaded WAV files, to my surprise there was no "click". I then ripped WAV files from one of the original source discs and compared to the extracted WAV files, neither showed a "click". I then burned a disc with the ripped WAV files, upon examination there was no "click".
I repeated this process using newly downloaded WAV files, ripping WAV files from source discs, then burning, and comparing to new burns of the extracted WAV files. I repeated this process with Easy CD Creator, Exact Audio Copy, and Nero to eliminate any of those programs as a possibility.
I've concluded that UltraISO inaccurately extracts WAV from CIF, despite the extracted WAV, for whatever reason, failing to show a "click".
thanks,
tom
