I just watched UltraISO eat up (destroy) two of my dual layer discs. If it were the normal 4.7 GB discs, I wouldn't really care, but when the 8.5 GB discs cost 6 times the price of a 4.7 GB disc, I tend to get a little bit cranky.
There's obviously a major bug in UltraISO when it comes to writing large files to a disc. It appears that anything larger than 4 GB for a single file results in a corrupted burn session.
I tried writing the contents of one folder to a dual layer disc. There were 26 files in total. Most of the files were small (less than 1 MB), but one file was 6.7 GB. The disc was successfully completed, but when I tried copying the file back to my hard drive, I got a CRC error half-way through the copy process during the large file. So I figured something went wrong during the burning process, and I tried again. Same thing happened the second time. Two different discs, both of them corrupted.
I then installed an old copy of Easy CD Creator (7.5), and went to try the same thing with the exact same files. It worked perfectly. I was able to copy the large file back to my drive without errors, and an MD5 checksum test proves that the file on the DVD is identical to the original from my hard drive.
In each instance, I selected the UDF option in both UltraISO and also in Easy CD Creator. Obviously the UDF option doesn't work properly in UltraISO when it comes to files larger than 4 GB.
I was using the latest version of UltraISO (9.2.2536). I don't understand how something like this can be allowed to remain a bug for so long and not be tested before implementing dual layer burning capabilities in the software.

Hello tuyen, could you please provide step by step instructions for how to reproduce this problem?
PS: As 4GB files cannot be hold in standard ISO 9660 volume, it is recommanded to use 'File'->'New'->'UDF DVD image' to create an ISO or burn a DVD.

1) Start UltraISO 2) File menu --> New ---> UDF DVD Image 3) Drag my files that I want to burn to disc 4) Click the burn icon

Yes I know that. If you read my original reply, you'll see that I was using the UDF option in all 3 cases. UDF with UltraISO killed two of my discs. UDF with Easy CD Creator 7.5 worked perfectly.
The one difference I noticed with Easy CD Creator is that with the UDF option, they have a second option for a "bridge". In order to burn files larger than 4 GB, you MUST select "No bridge", otherwise it won't let you start the burning process, which is a good thing, because it prevents you from killing a disc.

Just burned one Dual-layer DVD+R disc with one large file (6.31 GB, 6,777,460,736 bytes), UltraISO worked properly. Detailed information is as the following:

Thanks for the reply and for looking into it. I don't know how to explain it. If it's working for you but not for me, then the only thing I can think of is there is some kind of incompatibility between my drive and UltraISO...because as I said before, I had no problems with an older version of Easy CD Creator with the same drive and the same blank media.
I'm using XP with SP3 LG H62N SATA drive Ridata DVD+R Dual Layer blank discs
Oh and by the way, I just finished burning another disc about 20 minutes ago, and I got another CRC error when I was trying to verify the files. This time it was a regular file under 4 GB (718 MB). Every file burned successfully, even some larger files like 1.03 GB and 1.6 GB, but for some reason, this one file gave a CRC error during reading.
I checked for any updated firmware from LG, but there was nothing for this specific model, which leads me to believe that they're not aware of anything major that needs to be fixed.
I'm not sure what else I can try except maybe lowering the burning speed to 2x, or to buy some different brand of blank discs.

Which LG do you have? Which brand of DVD9-R are you using?

Thanks for your feedback, which confirms that your problem has no relation to file-size (below or above 4GB large).
