hi!
i created dual boot cd... windows 2000 and xp one... i did everything as told in 3 in 1 cd post ....
i even tried the methord of renaming i386 folder to WN2K and then changing all the i386 in txtsetup.inf to wn2k. took care of capital ... changed in all the fills told....
the cd boots ok.. i am able to install the windows till the non gui part... once the files need are copied and comuter boots in gui mode of setup .. it cant find nt5.cat etc and asks for the correct path if i give the correct path it continues normally but i have to give the path too many times.. is ther somethingi am doing wrong? plz help.... tell me if there is something i can atleast try....
All administrators plz help.....

My advice:
1) Make a single boot windows 2000 first, and test with VMWare or burn to CD-RW.
2) Move I386 to \WN2K, and modify files as needed, test again
3) Do step 1-2 for Windows XP
4) Make a 2in1 disc

hi!
i copied i386 for win2k and made the iso and tried itwith vmware.... it work perfectly ok...
i renamed the i386 as WN2K and made the changes and tried it
in setupldr.bin - 3 i386 were found
in txtsetup.sif - 13 i386 were found
but it didnt work.. its asking for the nt5inf.cat file again....
did i do something wrong? is the number of times i found i386 correct?
plz help..

ya these files are in my root folder...
its working with i386 name but not when i change it to something else... there must be some other location where windows writes the location of nt5*.cat which is always i386.. if anyone could just tell me which file it is

1) You should make a WN2K folder, and put I386 directory under it. (disk1\WN2K\I386)
2) Copy boot files from I386 to WN2k, accroding to a previous topic http://www.ezbsys.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=1
3) The SetupSourcePath should be changed in txtsetup.sif, not i386

hi xoben!
i tried that way also ... but it was asking for c_12.... files so then i copied all the files with c_* to disk1\wn2k\ also.. then it completed setup in text mode but in gui mode the same problem of nt5inf.cat is coming.......
then i tried the way someone in between ur post of 3 in 1 suggest and of renaming i386 to wn2k and changing i386 to wn2k in txtsetup.sif .....
i have tried all those ways but nothing is wokring ... same is the case with winxp also.....
plz help

Your mistake, most likely, was renaming "i386" in txtsetup.inf to "wn2k".
A complete guide follows:
To make a multi-NT (2k, XP, 2k3, whatever) CD/DVD:
1. copy the entire contents of all CDs to any folders you like within the disk1 tree - just don't mix them; these will be hereafter called kit folders.
* considered example:
Windows 2000 Professional -> disk1\kit\win2000
Windows XP Professional -> disk1\kit\winxp
2. for every intended OS, make a folder in disk1, whose name must be 4 letters long; these will be hereafter called boot folders; in every one of these, also create a system32 folder
* considered example:
disk1\wn2k; disk1\wn2k\system32
disk1\wnxp; disk1\wnxp\system32
3. for every OS, copy the required boot files from disk1\kit folder\i386 (and disk1\kit folder\i386\system32) to disk1\boot folder (and disk1\boot folder\system32); There are some batch files to do just that (w2k.zip, wxp.zip, w2003.zip) - note that, additionally to those .BATs, you also need to copy c_1252.* and c_437.* (I don't remember the file extension right now) from disk1\kit folder\i386 to disk1\boot folder.
Note: the .BATs I was writing about should by copied to the respective boot folders, modified by changing "i386\" to "..\kit folder\i386\", and only then run.
* considered example:
- disk1\wn2k\w2k.bat: i386\ -> ..\kit\win2000\i386\
- disk1\wnxp\wxp.bat: i386\ -> ..\kit\winxp\i386\
4. in every boot folder, change in txtsetup.inf only the line
SetupSourcePath="\"
to
SetupSourcePath="\kit folder"
* considered example:
disk1\wn2k\txtsetup.sif: SetupSourcePath="\" -> SetupSourcePath="\KIT\WIN2000"
disk1\wnxp\txtsetup.sif: SetupSourcePath="\" -> SetupSourcePath="\KIT\WINXP"
5. in every boot folder, change setupldr.bin with a hex editor (I personally prefer Sen's HIEW) all occurences of "i386" (case insensitive) to "boot folder" - and make sure you type the boot folder name in uppercase, just to be sure (ISO9660 file names are always uppercase).
* considered example:
disk1\wn2k\setupldr.bin: "i386" -> "WN2K": 3 changes
disk1\wnxp\setupldr.bin: "i386" -> "WNXP": 4 changes
6. for every OS, copy disk1\ezboot\w2kboot.bin to disk1\ezboot\os_name.bin, then patch (into the new files) "i386" to "boot folder"; use uppercase characters!
* considered example:
disk1\ezboot\w2kboot.bin -> disk1\ezboot\win2000.bin; disk1\ezboot\win2000.bin: "I386" -> "WN2K"
disk1\ezboot\w2kboot.bin -> disk1\ezboot\winxp.bin: disk1\ezboot\winxp.bin: "I386" -> "WNXP"
7. for every OS, copy all files in disk1\kit folder to disk1\ - except autorun.inf, setup.exe, *.txt, *.htm
*considered example:
disk1\kit\win2000\cdrom_nt.5 -> disk1\cdrom_nt.5; disk1\kit\win2000\cdrom_ip.5 -> disk1\cdrom_ip.5
disk1\kit\winxp\win51 -> disk1\win51; disk1\kit\winxp\win51ip -> disk1\win51ip
8.use "run os_name.bin" in the menu to start up a certain windows setup;
*considered example:
run win2000.bin for windows 2000
run winxp.bin for windows xp

Big note!
There should be no changes pertaining to the files in the kit folders! All the files you mess with are in the boot folders!!!

Tips&tricks:
1. In order to disable the "Press any key to boot from the CD" prompt, simply delete bootfix.bin from the respective boot folders.
2.a. In order to disable the Windows 2000 product key request, edit disk1\kit folder\i386\setupp.inf, by changing the last 3 digits of PID to "270"
2.b. In order to disable the Windows XP / Server 2003 product key request, use the setupmgr.exe tool from deploy.cab (it should be somewhere on the CD) as follows: create a new script for unattended setup, for a CD installation; enter a valid product key (note that you may be violating the license agreement by doing this!) on the corresponding page, then save the resulting file, not as unattend.txt but as winnt.sif to both disk1\kit folder\i386 and disk1\boot folder.

Final note. All information in this post was already available in the forum. I wrote this because most posts I've seen lack examples.
