Thanks to Urie's post for the original method he provided which I have modified to use VMware and eliminate the need for a Ramdisk product.

I have found another way to create an image of TrueImage to be used with EasyBoot. I have tested this procedure using TrueImage 7 and the newTrueImage 8 and found it to work with both versions.

This procedure is based upon the steps that were posted here by Urie. I developed this procedure after pulling down the latest version of Cenatek Ramdisk for Windows XP only to discover that it no longer emulates a floppy.

In reading the steps of the procedure that Urie posted I realized that I could simply use VMware rather than the RamDisk product. I figure that a lot of people using EasyBoot probably have VMware anyway because they are likely testing their creations using VMware.

What you will need:

• VMWARE
• An installed OS on VMWare onto which you can install TrueImage (I used Windows XP)
• WinImage
• A memory stick, USB memory card, etc. – anything that TrueImage will let you create a Bootable Rescue Media to other than a CD.

1) Start up Vmware and run your virtual copy of Windows.

2) Create a floppy image with VMWare and format it by doing the following:

In VMware select “VM” and then “Settings”.
Select “Floppy1”.
Choose “Use floppy image” and specify a filename such as “floppy1.img”.
Click the “Create” button.
Check the box for “Connected” under “Device status” and then click on “Ok”.
Format the floppy by right-clicking it in Windows Explorer and choosing “Format”.

3) Install TrueImage in this virtual machine if it is not already installed.

4) After installation, run the Rescue Disk wizard to create a set of rescue media. Choose to create floppies for your rescue media and allow it to create the first floppy. Note that if you are just installing TrueImage it will automatically run the Rescue Disk builder after installation, otherwise simply run “Tools” and then “Create Bootable Rescue Media”.

5) Disconnect the floppy image from the virtual machine (VM, Settings, select the floppy, uncheck “connected” and click “ok”).

6) Cancel the creation of the remaining floppies.

7) Rename the image so it has “img” as the extension if you have not already named it so.

8) Shutdown your virtual machine and close VMware.

9) Run EasyBoot and choose “Tools”, “Create new floppy image”, choose 8640 for the Image Size, select the floppy image you just created in VMware as the seed image, and name the output image filename something like “TrueImage8.img”.

10) Now, run the TrueImage Rescue disk wizard again but from your physical machine this time rather than from within VMware. Run “Tools”, “Create Bootable Rescue Media”. This time, point it to your CF Card, memory stick, etc. when you make the rescue media and make sure to choose the full version.

11) Use Winimage to open the large disk image you created using EasyBoot in step #9 above. Use WinImage to inject the files from your memory card or other media to the image. To do this, choose “Image”, “Inject a directory”, and point to the root of your USB Drive, Memory Stick or other media. Perform a “File”, “Save”, and then close Winimage.

12) Copy the image to your disk1 directory in EasyBoot. To run TrueImage your menu should issue the command “run xxx.img” where xxx.img is the actual name of your image. In this example that would be “run TrueImage.img”.

Hope that this helps!
