Ok. Â I have used UltraISO many times to integrate service packs for different win2k versions and some basic XP versions. Â I just ran into a problem with xpsp3 and an oem HP xp pro disk for work. Â I have made iso images of the original disk and made copies of them with out issue.
The catch is the iso file size is about 623 MB Â the contained files are 900 MB according to the total file size indicator.
When I extracted the files and integrated them everything went fine.  When I went to burn the new image it wouldn’t burn to a cd.  I then looked at the iso file size and it is 968 MB and the content size is 965 MB.  (as I expected)
So my question is this, How can I get it back to a size that will fit on a regular cd like before? Â
I made the original image directly from the HP disk using UltraISO 8.6.1.xxxx.  I used that image to make copies with out issue.  What did HP do to make this disk like this and how can I do it so I don’t have to stick it on a dvd or try and strip out stuff.
And no this isn’t a restore disk.  It is part of a restore disk set, but using this disk alone is pretty much a clean XP install.  I typically prefer this method at work since they will not sprint for the volume license for XP like they do for office.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Edit: Oh, this whole time i did not even notice the file contents were that large.

Suggestion:
1) Open the original ISO image
2) Choose 'File'->'Samulated Save' , turn on 'Optimize' and get size of an optimized image
PS: You may turn on 'Optimize' option for save with 'File'->'Properties'.

Orginal iso
size(sectors): 318,837
Size(bytes): 637,674kb
updated iso
size(sectors): 427,197
Size(bytes): 854,394
I went ahead and did an optimise save of a copy of the newly created sp3 image. Â broght the iso file size down to 834 MB Â I noticed on the simulate option it gives different size for saving a different image vs. saving to current. Â Going to try that and see what happens.
Let me know of anything else i can try.
Edit: Just saved to new image. same 834 MB as saved to same image.
Also dug out the orginal disk. looking at the properties under windows explorer the size reads as 622 MB. Prety much the size of the iso file UltraISO created. When i go into the drive and select all files and check the file size i get 899 MB same as UltraISO reports as total file size. (well, 900MB i think)

Any other ideas or suggestions?
Should i go ahead and upgrade to the newer version?
I was hoping to figure this out before i changed the program.

Edit: I can host the orginal and new iso if you want/need to download it to look at it for yourself. You will only beable to download it at about 16 KB/s. It doesn't hae a key so i don't think it would be illegle.

You should have got the answer by yourself:
1) The original ISO is optimized, you can re-produce the result by open the original ISO, turn on 'Optimize' option and 'Save as' a new ISO
2) When SP3 is patched, size of optimized ISO is 834MB, it cannot be holded by a CD disc as the orignal one.
3) As we provide liftime free updates to all registered customers, you may upgrade to latest version at any time. But this will not help to reduce the size of an image file.

Almost same issue here... I opened a regular *.iso file (718,539 KB, on local, and as it is) which reporting ....
Total size: 221GB
34745% of 650 MB
220GB Overload
On "Simulated Save"/Optimize On, it pop-uping:
size: 1,407,673
size (bytes) 2,815,346 KB
media rec: 3,95GB
And all without any changes on files content ...
So what's wrong? It is possible to be compressed with some kid of Ultra ISO Tool, because this image (*.iso) was successfully burned on regular 700mb-CD.
And if you asking about iso's content, well is a XP-SP3 with add-ons, and my target was just to add more languages on "i386/LANG" folder, as the packer erased all but english/arabic, due to lack of space for his extra apps.
