Seriously?  It doesn't work with AHCI on Win7 x64?  I have whole disk encryption and when I flip the SATA mode to "Compatibility," it crashes my laptop and bluescreens.  If I had any idea, I would've purchased an enterprise class ISO burner.  Better yet, I *will* purchase an enterprise class ISO burner.

I want my money back!

Hi all! Regarding this so called "bug" (error setting Error Setting Write Mode Page in Vista x64) :

First, we can't really call this a software bug - since a bug, should (but not necessarily) produce the same errors across all platforms. If it works in 32-bit OS but not in 64-bit OS, the problem mainly rests on the OS and software incompatibility.

Second, this problem appears to occur in systems using AHCI driver, instead of IDE driver and IDE mode (in BIOS).

Most programs run well in IDE mode, since that is the defacto standard. AHCI is a newer standard taking over, and not all softwares have moved completely into supporting AHCI mode from Day 1.

Even if a system is already running the HDDs in AHCI mode, Windows still require the latest AHCI Storage Drivers (either from Intel or AMD) to work without problems with all softwares.

After installing the said drivers, the problem goes away, and if it's a bug within UltraISO, the problem is supposed to remain.

UltraISO has one of the best tech. support out there, believe it or not! Xoben will get back to you regarding any problems. But that problem must be unsolved as yet.

Finally, I'm sure these problems will be taken care of in the next major release. ( Ultra ISO 10+)

Now to the solution, that I'm aware of :

If the OS is running under AHCI mode (selected in Bios, and Device Manager shows AHCI under IDE/ATA Controller in Device Manager,

a.) for Intel based chipsets, make sure to download the latest Intel Matrix AHCI Storage Driver : Note that the downloaded files won't install if the chipsets are not compatible. (Series 5 driver won't work with Series 6 chipset, for eg.)

b.) for AMD chipsets, download AMD Catalyst AHCI driver from AMD website.

After installing the CORRECT driver, reboot, and UltraISO should work under AHCI mode.

For phiplip.pflaesterer @ post#10 above, the correct chipset series to download for P35 based chipsets is "Series 3" Chipset Drivers.

TIP: To Download the correct driver, begin the driver selection process from scratch, instead of downloading directly from the above link.

Hope this helps. :)

(Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner. Just stumbled upon this while surfing. Been using the latest UltraISO 9 Premium without a hitch for more than a year now.)

(Using both WinXP Pro x86 and Win 7 Ultimate x64.)

I like UltraISO, but I don't want to install additional drivers etc (which might be risky sometimes, if you don't know what you are doing) for being able to work with that AHCI mode.

As someone earlier was suggesting, ImgBurn is a good no-nonsense replacement..  for burning CDs/DVDs.

Seems like this issue has not been fixed yet..

the dreaded " Error setting write mode page "  message is still very much a negative experience for me

I have just installed an SSD drive as my operating system drive which is Windows 7x64bit. UltraISO was fine until I changed my IDE settings in BIOS to AHCI which is necessary for the SSD and improves file transfer performance with all SATA drives(I have four). Now I have that message"ultraiso dvd-r/rw media requires setting mode page to use DAO writing" when it's already set to that setting. I have the latest drivers installed and the latest version UltraISO. Looks like I'll now have to use something else. :(

I have the same problem since I re-installed my Windows7-x64 machine with AHCI activated.

Me too. Just un-installed UltraISO, re-installed my Intel® Matrix Storage Manager Driver V8.9.0.1023, rebooted - you have to after installing these drivers, reinstalled UltraISO v9.6.0.3000 and problem fixed. No more "page mode setting" errors. :)
