Hi!

I have a problem with EasyBoot when booting from a prepared CD (version 5.08, the most recent one). The menu appears, but keyboard and mouse are frozen too.. I cannot do anything but reboot the machine... I have this problem on 1 machine with the following hardware:

ATI Radeon 7200 DDR, ASUS K8N E-Deluxe motherboard.
The keyboard and the mouse are both PS/2.
The background is in 256 colors at 640x480 pixels.

With other machines (different hardware) no problems at all.

Thanks for your help.

This is a problem related to the ATi 7000 Series and your Bitmap Background.

Try Using ACDSEE or Paint Shop Pro to save your .BMP and it should work

Thanks for the reply... Can I save the bitmap with Paint (shipped with Windows)? I saved previously with Photoshop 7.0.1 (indexed mode).

How can a bitmap affect a specific graphics board and others not? (Tried with an NVIDIA GF6600GT and no problems at all!)

Again, thanks for your help :)

No, you cannot use Paint.

I was doing the same just like you. I used Photoshop, Saved for web in a .GIF format and then I opened the .GIF in MS Paint to save as .BMP... this doesn't work

So I changed my method and I saved my photoshop work as a .TIFF file and then I opened the file with Paint Shop Pro or ACDSEE, lowered to 256-colors and then saved as .BMP... this should work for you as well

I've saved the bitmap again with ACDSee Pro 8, and the bitmap was slightly different (but with same size, compared with FC command). When I open EasyBoot to save the changes, this program ALTERS the original bitmap saved by ACDSee!!, because if I compare the old bitmap and the bitmap AFTER saving the menu with EB, both bitmaps (the supposedly corrupt) and the new are IDENTICAL. The .BM1 files (old and new) are identical too...

Why EB alters the bitmap? (I don't mean the creation of the .BM1 file, I'm talking about the original .BMP after saving the menu with this app).

TIA.

PD: The bitmap is shown (8-bit version) with the ATI 7200 DDR, but the menu is completely frozen (no keyboard, no mouse).

Suggestion: Uncheck 'Enable PS/2 mouse' option on 'Options'->'Configuration' and try it out.

Thanks for your valuable help, xoben ! :)

I will try without mouse support soon. Anyway, I tried to boot with a 16-color menu (ATI 7200 DDR board) and the menu worked (both keyboard and mouse!). I think it's a graphics-related bug. Do you think with 5.09 version may be solved?

Regards.
