Is that possible?
Some oem computers come with a GHost image, instead of a windows cd.
If you want to do a new install, you can't do it in windows,so you loose everything on your harddisk,if you use the factory recovery disk.
Ectracting and creating a windows cd from that oem image, would be nice,so you can install windows over the old 1,instead of loosing everything by loading the factory cd.

Thanks bernaar for the suggestion.

At this time, Ghost explorer may help you to extract files from a .GHO image.

THX for the reply,Xoben:)
I know that Ghost Explorer can do that, but since I'm the proud owner of UltraIso,I thought to suggest it.
I don't want to buy the full version of Ghost just to extract my operating ssystem.....
The recovery XP cd doesn't contain a visible Ghost explorer or a Ghost.exe .....only a few prepared batch files to restore the image.
Maybe the Ghost.exe is hidden??

bernaar, what would you want to do such a thing?

extracting certain files from your oem CD would probably lead you to the replacement of previously updated operating files, messing things up.

My apologies but I do not see the logic.

Another thing is to wish to crack the ghost image without actually having Ghost. That's something else.

There are plenty of good reasons, for example,to create a real windows cd from the ghost image, extracting files or dll's with the -Xpand command, creating a windows cd and slipstreaming a servicepack in it......everything is better than loosing every file on your harddisk when you have to use that recovery cd....
