This may same a stupid question but i just would like to make sure. If i have an existing image file on my harddrive .iso etc if i open it with ultra iso and a few files e.g .txt. then save it, wheni  burn it to disk, will the new files effect the already existing files, i.e installing the game/playing it.

You can emulate the modified ISO by SoftDisc (http://www.ezbsystems.com/softdisc) and see if your game works or not.
