It says in the What's New: for UltraISO 7.2.3.901 ME

+) Can create Apple HFS volume (Apple/Windows Hybrid CDs, Pre-mastering only)

How do you do this?
What does "Pre-mastering only" mean?

Since UltraISO now can open ISO / HFS hybrid images,
and look at the files
- it would be very nice if it could also save the HFS partitions (not only the ISO ones) after editing.

I'm only aware of two programs for PC that can create & save  ISO (+Joliet ext.) / HFS hybrid images,
one is an extremely versatile Open Source program (does Rock Ridge ext. too!), but has ONLY a command line interface,
the other one has a very "strange" GUI..
I like UltraISO's familiar GUI - therefore I would prefer to use that one..! :)

BTW: In hybrid ISO / HFS images, one can make items (files & folders)
appear in either ISO, HFS, or both partitions.
Maybe you could change the F9 toggle to a 3-way toggle:

* Hybrid / ISO only partition
* Hybrid / Shared partition
* Hybrid / HFS only partition

BTW: While both
Action -> View
and
Action -> Extract
does work for files in the HFS partition
(but only the file's data fork gets viewed / extracted)...
..."drag 'n 'drop extraction" does not work!
It drops a file that's as big as the file's MacBinary file size
(= size of both the file's data fork + the files' resource fork)
- but the content is not correct!
It seems to be just taking the first x bytes of the image file,
where x is, as I mentioned, the should-be-extracted file's MacBinary file size..

Premastering stands for creating a new image from files and folders, editing is not allowed.

Currently, UltraISO extracts data fork only (RAW mode). The resource fork will be ignored.

Thanks for your quick reply!

I have found out now, you can create ISO / HFS hybrid images
by setting the "Apple HFS" switch under File -> Properties...

I saw the switch earlier, but I believed it not to work since there was no change in the "ISO cd icon" when I turned it on...
..I have now found out you must save the image to see the "HFS cd icon"! :)

Also, before the image is saved, it is not possible to
Actions -> Switch to x Volume   F9

This means that all files and folders you add, will appear on both the ISO volume and the HFS volume.

That's sad.
If you had changed the behaviour so you could
Actions -> Switch to x Volume   F9
immediately after setting the "Apple HFS" switch under File -> Properties...
- we could add some files to the ISO volume,
switch to HFS volume, add some files to that volume
- and finally saved the disc image file.

Are you planning to add this feature in a later version of UltraISO..?
That would have been sooo cool! :cool:
