the easiest way to create a bootable usb stick whit xp on it ...is to use a tool calt bij name  " WinSetupFromUSB"
i created a  file in dutch/ engles ... but its working great ....

Note : this tool works only  for XP

INSTALLEER  XP VANAF  EEN USB STICK
instal XP from  a USB stick

wat heb je hier voor nodig ...
what do you need ...
een leegge  geformateerde usb stick van 4Gb (NFTS )
one empty NFTS  formated  4Gb usb stick
een windows XP cd  (legaalle versie )..met key..
a  legally XP CD
of een eerder aangemaakte  iso file van de XP cd..
or a previously created iso file from the XP CD
een pc met DVDspeler  en een vrije usb poort...
DVD player and a PC with an available USB port ...
en dit behulpzaam stukje software..
and this helpful piece of software

andere vereisten zijn ...

dat je usb stick opstartbaar is..
that your USB stick bootable
jouw bios moet het opstarten vanaf de usb stick ondersteunen ...
Your BIOS must support booting from USB stick.
de usb stick mag niet beschadigd zijn en vlekkeloos werken
The USB stick is not damaged and works flawlessly

voorbereiding
preparation

opstartbaarre usb maken met behulp van de XP cd
create a bootable  USB by using the XP CD

1...Plaats uw Windows XP-cd in de cd-rom drive en klik op Bladeren..
1 ... Insert your Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive and click Browse
2..Geef de bestemmings pad in op de PC..
2 .. Enter the destination path on the PC
3..Selecteer uw CD-ROM station waarin de cd is Windows XP en klik op OK..
3 .. Select your CD-ROM drive that contains the Windows XP CD and click OK
4..Klik op Vernieuwen en ga dan op het kleine pijltje net links en selecteer de USB-sleutel die u  gebruikt voor het opstarten XP..
4 .. Click Refresh and then on the small arrow just to the left and select the USB key you  used to boot XP
5..selecteer ok..
5...Select ok
6..Nu dat alles gereed is kun je gewoon klikken op de GO
6 .. Now that everything is ready you can just click on the GO
.wacht nu tot het kopieeren gereed is ...sluit de software na het kopieeren ..
wait now until the copying is finished ... close the software after the copy ..

.installeer nu windows XP vanaf de usb
now install Windows XP from USB

*..ga nu naar jouw bios settings en selecteer opstarten vanaf de usb..
*.. now go to your BIOS settings and select boot from the usb ..
*..is dit gedaan bewaar je deze instellingen en herstart je de pc ..
*when this is done you save the settings and restart your PC ..
*..je ziet nu 2 keuzes in het GRUB menu..
*.. You'll see two options in the GRUB menu ..
*..De eerste is het selecteren van het opstarten van de installatie procedure..
*.. The first is to select starting the installation procedure
*..De tweede regel is voor het gewoon opstarten van af de windows XP..
*.. The second rule is to simply boot off the Windows XP
*..Daarom boot je vanaf de USB-sleutel tot Windows XP volledig is geïnstalleerd...
*.. So you boot from the USB key for Windows XP
*..Volg de installatie-instructies als voor een normale installatie...
*.. Follow the installation instructions for a normal installation
*..Nu is je Windows XP is geïnstalleerd vanaf uw USB-stick!
*.. Now your Windows XP is instalted from your USB stick!

opstartbaarre usb stick maken met behulp van een iso file
create a bootable  usb stick by using an iso file

1..start het tool WinSetupFromUSB
1 .. start the tool WinSetupFromUSB
2..selecteer via de tap brouse de opgeslagen opstartbaarre iso file van xp..
2 .. Select from the tap bush saved the iso file from bootable xp
3..selecteer nu de usb stick die je ga gebruiken en formateer deze naar NFTS..
3 .. then select the usb stick that you will use and format it to NTFS ..
4..klik vervolgens op start en je usb stick word automatisch aangemaakt..
4 .. click start and your USB stick is created automatically ..

NOTE ...

voor gebruik van deze stick is het vereist dat je eerst de bios settings van de betreffende pc
zodannig instel dat je vanaf de usb stick opstart..
heb je deze optie niet in de bios staan , dan werkt ook deze stick niet !!..
to use this stick, it's  requires that you get to the bios settings on the PC..set that ,you boot from the usb stick ..
iff  this option is not  available in the bios , this stick can  and will not boot

Hi,

I have the winnt32 file on my slipstreamed Windows XP SP3 CD but when I build the BartPE folder it doesn't copy over.

Any ideas please?

I have a problem with step 6. When i start run Bart Pe, my keyboard stops working. Mouse still works. Where could be a problem?

Thanks a lot for the solution ... I spend almost 6 hours tryin to figure out a way to burn the iso image onto a usb.. nothin was workin out for me.. until i found this one .. it worked perfectly and now ve installed XP in my netbook.. a BSOD error popped in my way right after i plugged in the USB and was abt to start the installation  .. but solved it bt changing the SATA drive type to Native IDE .. :) ... i went thru a 100 other other forums, downloadin and installing countless number of tools, before tryin this one and t worked out perfectly .. thanks a lot ... :)
